Overview

The Team Associated Factory Team M4 Low Profile Wheel Nuts in black represent precision engineering designed specifically for competitive RC car racing in the UK and beyond. These are not generic wheel retention components — they are purpose-built solutions for drivers who need to maximise their vehicle's performance whilst staying within strict competition regulations. If you race RC cars at major events, particularly 1/10 scale on-road buggies and touring cars, these wheel nuts are an essential upgrade that directly impacts your vehicle's legality and handling on the track.

Whether you compete with an Associated B74, B64, or run a TLR 22, TLR 22-4, Tekno EB410, or Yokomo YZ-4 SF, you'll understand the critical importance of maintaining legal track width. Many racing venues enforce strict width limits to ensure fair competition, and running the wrong wheel nuts can disqualify your setup before you even get on the track. The Factory Team M4 Low Profile Wheel Nuts solve this problem by delivering a thinner profile than standard wheel retention options, allowing you to fit your wheels to the front of your RC buggy whilst keeping your overall width compliant with competition rules.

For serious RC racing enthusiasts in the UK, these wheel nuts are the difference between a legal setup and an illegal one. They combine Factory Team quality with intelligent engineering, ensuring that your investment in a competition-grade RC buggy is fully realised. Whether you're preparing for a national championship, a regional club event, or simply want your RC car collection to meet professional standards, Team Associated's commitment to precision and performance is evident in every detail of these components.

Key Features

  • M4 Low-Profile Design — The M4 thread size is the industry standard for 1/10 scale RC car wheel applications, whilst the specifically engineered low-profile geometry allows these nuts to maintain minimal thickness. This is crucial for front-wheel applications where every millimetre of width matters, ensuring your RC buggy or touring car stays within legal track width limits at sanctioned events and competitions across the UK and internationally.
  • Large-Diameter Locking Serrations — Rather than relying on simple friction or plastic locking inserts, these wheel nuts feature substantial serrations that literally bite into the face of your wheel hub or wheel adapter. This mechanical locking mechanism creates an exceptionally secure hold, preventing wheel loosening during aggressive acceleration, cornering, and braking — critical for maintaining your setup's integrity during competitive racing.
  • Factory Team Quality Assurance — Team Associated's Factory Team division represents the pinnacle of component engineering for competitive RC racing. Every wheel nut is manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring consistent thread fit, reliable locking performance, and longevity. You can trust that these are genuine, quality parts designed by engineers who understand exactly what competitive racers demand.
  • Professional Black Finish — The sleek black anodised finish is not merely aesthetic — it provides corrosion resistance and a professional appearance that reflects the quality of your entire RC racing setup. The finish is durable enough to withstand repeated assembly and disassembly during maintenance and race preparation.
  • Proven Compatibility Across Multiple Platforms — These wheel nuts are engineered to work with a wide range of leading 1/10 scale RC car platforms, including Associated RC10B64, RC10B64 Club Racer, RC10B64D, RC10B74, B74, B64, TLR 22, TLR 22-4, Tekno EB410, and Yokomo YZ-4 SF, making them a versatile choice for drivers running multiple vehicles or considering a platform change.

Technical Performance

The engineering behind the Team Associated Factory Team M4 Low Profile Wheel Nuts reflects decades of competitive racing experience. M4 thread specifications are precisely manufactured to ensure smooth engagement with your vehicle's wheel axles or hub components whilst maintaining zero play or wobble. The large-diameter serration pattern is carefully designed to maximise contact area with the wheel face, distributing clamping force evenly and preventing the stress concentrations that can lead to wheel damage or detachment during high-speed racing. The low-profile geometry is critical for drivers operating in competitive environments where track width regulations are enforced with precision measuring equipment — these nuts remove millimetres of width compared to standard wheel retention solutions, allowing you to optimise your track setup. The black anodised finish is applied through professional aerospace-grade processes, providing lasting protection against corrosion from moisture, salt spray, and the various chemicals encountered in RC racing environments. When paired with quality wheel adapters, hubs, and axle components, these nuts deliver reliable, repeatable wheel retention that has been proven in national and international RC racing competitions. They represent the hardware equivalent of choosing brushless motors and quality ESCs — components where precision and reliability directly translate to competitive advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I really need low-profile wheel nuts for my RC buggy? — If you compete in sanctioned RC racing events, the answer is almost certainly yes. Major racing venues enforce strict track width regulations to ensure fairness and prevent vehicles from gaining competitive advantage through width. Standard wheel nuts are significantly thicker and will push your vehicle over the legal width limit. Low-profile nuts like these allow you to run legal widths whilst maintaining maximum wheel diameter and grip. Even if you're not currently competing, investing in these ensures your setup will be compliant if you decide to enter local or national championships.
  • Will these wheel nuts work with my RC car platform? — The Team Associated Factory Team M4 Low Profile Wheel Nuts are specifically engineered for 1/10 scale cars using M4 wheel threads. They are confirmed compatible with Associated RC10B64, RC10B64 Club Racer, RC10B64D, RC10B74, B74, B64, as well as leading competing platforms including TLR 22, TLR 22-4, Tekno EB410, and Yokomo YZ-4 SF. If your vehicle uses M4 wheel threads, these nuts will fit, but always verify your specific platform's requirements before purchasing.
  • How much thinner are these compared to standard wheel nuts? — The low-profile design delivers a noticeably thinner overall height compared to standard wheel retention components, typically saving multiple millimetres of width per side. This may sound minimal, but in competitive racing where width limits are often only a few millimetres above the standard track, this difference can be the deciding factor between a legal and illegal setup.
  • What makes the serration pattern so important? — The large-diameter locking serrations physically grip into your wheel face or adapter, creating a mechanical lock rather than relying on friction or plastic inserts alone. This prevents wheel loosening caused by vibration, acceleration forces, and cornering G-forces encountered during competitive racing. The serrations distribute clamping force across a wider contact area, reducing pressure concentrations that could damage lightweight wheel rims.
  • Are these suitable for casual RC bashing or only for racing? — Whilst these nuts are engineered for competitive racing, they offer superior wheel retention compared to standard components and will benefit any RC enthusiast using compatible 1/10 scale vehicles. However, if you're a casual basher with no intention of competing, standard wheel nuts may be perfectly adequate for your needs. These nuts represent an investment specifically justified by competitive racing requirements.
  • How do I install these wheel nuts? — Installation is straightforward: simply unscrew your existing wheel nuts, slide your wheel and adapter onto the axle, and thread the new low-profile nuts into place hand-tight. Use a small wrench or socket to tighten firmly but not excessively — over-tightening can damage wheel threads or the wheel face. The serrations will bite into your wheel as you tighten, creating the mechanical lock.
