Overview

The Team Associated RC10B6.4 FT Top Plate and Ballstud Mount is a genuine Factory Team option part engineered to optimise the steering geometry and suspension performance of your RC buggy. Designed specifically for the RC10B6.4 platform, this angled carbon component integrates the top plate and ballstud mount into a clean, race-focused assembly that delivers measurable improvements to handling and steering feel. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy UK setup or an enthusiast seeking to refresh worn components, this Factory Team upgrade provides the precision engineering and premium build quality expected from Team Associated's race-proven parts range.

This part represents a significant advancement in steering system design, addressing the geometry challenges that arose with the recent changes to chassis kickup introduced with the B6.4 generation. The angled ballstud mount works in conjunction with the top plate to position the bellcranks and steering rack in a more optimal operating window, ensuring the steering linkage geometry remains efficient throughout the full range of steering throw and suspension travel. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK seeking competitive advantage, this upgrade is an essential consideration for any serious B6.4 build or maintenance programme.

Constructed from quality carbon material, the AS91972 combines lightweight properties with exceptional rigidity, consistent with Team Associated's Factory Team hardware standards. This is not merely a cosmetic upgrade—it's a functional performance enhancement that changes how your RC buggy responds to steering inputs and handles mid-corner adjustments. A racer preference item that demands testing to discover the performance gains your specific driving style will unlock, this component is perfect for those who understand that chassis tuning often determines race outcomes.

Key Features

  • Angled Ballstud Mount Design — The angled configuration positions the inner and outer steering link ballstuds in an optimal geometric relationship, allowing them to work through a better window across the full arc of steering movement and suspension travel, which directly translates to smoother, more predictable steering feel at all steering angles.
  • Optimised for B6.4 Kickup Changes — Engineered specifically to work with the chassis geometry changes introduced with the RC10B6.4, this component restores steering system efficiency and responsiveness that older steering designs cannot achieve with the newer chassis platform.
  • Factory Team Race Engineering — Developed by Team Associated's Factory Team technical division, this part carries the precision and proven track-record specifications of components used in professional RC buggy racing programmes.
  • Carbon Construction — Manufactured from quality carbon fibre material to deliver a lightweight yet rigid component that maintains its geometric accuracy under load and delivers the premium aesthetic consistent with high-performance RC hardware.
  • Integrated Top Plate and Ballstud Mount — The seamless integration of both components into a single assembly eliminates potential misalignment issues and reduces assembly complexity, ensuring repeatable geometry every time you build or rebuild your buggy.
  • Direct Steering Response Improvement — By positioning steering linkage components in their optimal operating window, this upgrade delivers noticeably smoother response through the steering throw and improved handling consistency, particularly noticeable during mid-corner adjustments and high-speed directional changes.
  • Maintenance and Wear Replacement — Ideal for refreshing worn or damaged steering geometry components, this Factory Team part ensures you're restoring your buggy to correct performance specifications when upgrading from standard to performance-level parts.

Technical Performance

The RC10B6.4 FT Top Plate and Ballstud Mount represents a sophisticated engineering solution to steering system geometry optimisation. The angled ballstud mount design fundamentally changes how the steering linkages interact with the bellcranks and steering rack throughout the full range of motion. Unlike standard steering components that may work well at neutral but compromise geometry at extreme steering angles, this Factory Team part maintains optimal angulation across the complete steering arc. The carbon fibre construction provides the rigidity required to maintain geometric consistency under the lateral loads generated during cornering, whilst remaining lightweight enough not to compromise your buggy's balance and weight distribution. This component is manufactured to exacting Factory Team tolerances, ensuring that when installed alongside genuine Team Associated suspension and steering components, your RC buggy will exhibit the predictable, progressive steering characteristics that championship-winning setups demand. The integration of the top plate and ballstud mount into a single assembly eliminates potential sources of misalignment that can occur when separate components are assembled independently. For builders serious about RC buggy UK performance optimisation, this upgrade bridges the gap between standard production geometry and the advanced steering systems found in professional competition vehicles. The part is compatible with RC10T6.4 and RC10SC6.4 platforms, providing flexibility across Team Associated's latest generation of short-course and stadium truck designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the benefit of the angled ballstud mount over standard steering geometry? — The angled design positions the inner and outer steering link ballstuds in a more optimal relationship throughout the full arc of steering movement and suspension travel. This results in smoother, more predictable steering feel through complete steering throws and improved handling consistency, particularly beneficial for competitive racing where steering response accuracy determines race outcomes.
  • Is this part essential or optional for my RC10B6.4 buggy? — This is a racer preference part—it's optional rather than essential. However, Team Associated specifically engineered it to address geometry challenges introduced with the B6.4's chassis kickup changes. If you're building a competitive RC buggy UK race setup or upgrading from a standard configuration, testing this component is highly recommended to determine if it suits your driving style and delivers the performance gains you seek.
  • Will this part work with my existing RC10B6.4 components? — The AS91972 is designed as a direct upgrade for RC10B6.4 platforms and is compatible with RC10T6.4 and RC10SC6.4 models. However, optimal results are achieved when used alongside other Factory Team components and genuine Team Associated steering and suspension parts that complement the improved geometry this component provides.
  • What makes this a Factory Team component rather than standard equipment? — Factory Team components are engineered and tested by Team Associated's professional racing division to deliver enhanced performance, tighter tolerances, and advanced designs refined through competitive racing experience. The angled ballstud mount is an evolution beyond standard steering geometry, incorporating performance improvements discovered through race programme development.
  • Is this suitable for beginners or only experienced racers? — Whilst the technical engineering is sophisticated, installation is straightforward for anyone familiar with basic RC buggy assembly. However, to truly appreciate the steering feel differences this component provides, you'll benefit from some driving experience with your RC buggy so you can assess how the improved geometry affects your handling feel and lap times.
  • How does carbon construction benefit this component? — Carbon fibre offers the ideal combination of lightweight construction and exceptional rigidity. This material maintains precise geometric alignment under the lateral loads generated during cornering, whilst minimising unsprung weight that could otherwise compromise your buggy's suspension response and overall balance.
