Overview
The Team Associated RC10B6 FT Laydown Gearbox and Chassis Braces in carbon represents the pinnacle of Factory Team performance upgrades for serious RC car UK enthusiasts and competitive racers. Whether you're running an RC10B6.1, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.4 or one of the associated short course truck and truggy variants, this precision-engineered component delivers measurable performance gains that will transform how your RC buggy handles on the track. Carbon fibre has become the go-to material for Factory Team upgrades across the entire Team Associated line of race cars, and this laydown gearbox assembly is no exception.
If you're serious about competitive RC racing in the UK and want to extract every ounce of performance from your RC10B6 series buggy, this is the upgrade you've been waiting for. The carbon construction provides substantial rigidity improvements compared to standard parts, directly addressing one of the most common performance limitations in off-road RC buggies: unwanted chassis flex. By reducing movement in the rear of the chassis, you'll experience a dramatically more consistent and precise feel on track, translating to faster lap times and more predictable handling characteristics in both tight technical sections and high-speed straightaways.
This is not a cosmetic upgrade—it's a genuine performance enhancement that serious racers rely upon when every thousandth of a second counts. The carbon laydown gearbox and chassis braces work together to stiffen the entire rear chassis structure, limiting flex and vibration that would otherwise compromise steering response and traction. For weekend bashers looking to improve their RC car's performance, or competitive racers preparing for club events, this Factory Team component is an investment in consistency and speed.
Key Features
- Carbon Fibre Construction — Factory Team has engineered this gearbox assembly from high-quality carbon material, providing superior rigidity compared to plastic or standard composite alternatives, which means your chassis will flex less during aggressive cornering and acceleration.
- Reduced Chassis Flex — The primary benefit of this upgrade is dramatically reduced flex in the rear of the chassis, which directly improves weight transfer and traction control during acceleration and cornering, resulting in noticeably faster lap times.
- Enhanced Suspension Rigidity — By adding rigidity to the rear suspension components and chassis structure, these braces work with your suspension geometry to provide a more predictable and responsive ride, allowing you to push harder into corners with confidence.
- Laydown Gearbox Design — The purpose-engineered laydown configuration integrates the gearbox and chassis bracing into a single assembly that maximises structural strength whilst maintaining optimal weight distribution for balanced handling characteristics.
- Consistent On-Track Feel — The cumulative effect of reduced flex and improved rigidity is a more consistent, precise feel on track lap after lap, allowing you to develop a reliable baseline for tuning and setup adjustments.
- Direct Replacement Compatibility — This assembly is a direct plug-and-play replacement for parts AS91791 and AS91709, meaning installation is straightforward with no modifications required to your RC buggy.
- Factory Team Quality — As an official Factory Team part, this component meets Team Associated's exacting standards for precision manufacturing, material quality and performance consistency that competitive racers demand.
- Versatile Platform Support — Compatible with the entire RC10B6 series including the B6.1, B6.1D, B6.2, B6.2D, B6.3, B6.3D, B6.4 and B6.4D variants, as well as the RC10T6 truggy and RC10SC6 short course truck platforms.
Technical Performance
The carbon fibre laydown gearbox and chassis braces represent a sophisticated engineering solution to one of the most fundamental challenges in off-road RC racing: maintaining structural rigidity whilst keeping weight minimal. The carbon material used by Factory Team offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, providing measurably superior stiffness compared to plastic or nylon alternatives without adding significant mass to your RC10B6 buggy. The laydown gearbox design has been specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly with the rear chassis structure of the RC10B6 series, with precision-moulded mounting points ensuring perfect alignment and maximum contact surface for load distribution. The accompanying chassis braces are strategically positioned to counter torsional forces and vertical loads during cornering, braking and acceleration, minimising the microscopic movements that accumulate to rob you of speed and consistency. Quality control in the manufacturing process is stringent, with each component finished to tight tolerances to ensure perfect fitment and long-term durability even under the demanding conditions of competitive racing. The carbon construction also provides superior damping characteristics compared to plastic, helping to absorb vibration from track imperfections and suspension articulation, which translates into smoother power delivery and more predictable steering response through a corner.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which RC10B6 models does this carbon gearbox and braces assembly fit? — This Factory Team carbon assembly is compatible with the RC10B6.1, RC10B6.1D, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.2D, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, RC10B6.4 and RC10B6.4D buggy variants. It also fits the RC10T6.1, RC10T6.2 and RC10T6.4 truggy platforms, as well as the RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2 and RC10SC6.4 short course truck models. If you're unsure whether it's compatible with your specific variant, our team at RC Model Shop is happy to confirm compatibility before you purchase.
- What is the performance improvement compared to the standard plastic gearbox and braces? — The primary performance benefit is substantially reduced chassis flex in the rear of your RC buggy. This translates into more consistent weight transfer, improved traction during acceleration, and more predictable steering response through corners. Competitive racers typically report noticeable improvements in lap time consistency and the ability to push harder into technical sections without the chassis feeling sloppy or unstable.
- Is this a difficult installation for someone new to RC car maintenance? — The carbon gearbox and braces assembly is designed as a direct replacement for the standard components (AS91791 and AS91709), which means installation is straightforward and requires no modifications to your RC buggy. If you're familiar with basic RC car assembly and maintenance, you should be able to install this yourself using standard tools. However, if you're new to RC car work, our experienced team at RC Model Shop would be happy to help with installation advice or point you towards comprehensive build guides.
- Will this carbon upgrade fit my RC10B6 with other aftermarket parts installed? — This assembly has been engineered to integrate with the standard RC10B6 chassis design and most common aftermarket upgrades. However, if you've made substantial modifications to the rear chassis structure or suspension mounting points, we'd recommend checking compatibility before purchasing. Contact our team with details of your specific setup and we can advise whether any adjustments might be needed.
- How does carbon fibre compare to aluminium for chassis braces? — Carbon fibre offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to aluminium, meaning you get the stiffness benefits without adding as much weight to your RC buggy. Carbon also provides better vibration damping characteristics, which can translate into smoother, more predictable handling. For competitive racers, the combination of reduced weight and improved damping makes carbon the preferred choice for premium chassis upgrades.
- Is this suitable for casual weekend bashing as well as competitive racing? — Absolutely. Whilst the engineering in this Factory Team component appeals to serious racers, any RC10B6 owner will experience noticeable improvements in handling consistency and predictability. Even weekend bashers will appreciate how the reduced chassis flex makes the buggy feel more planted and responsive, which makes driving more enjoyable and intuitive.
