Overview

The Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons (AS91935) represent a precision tuning solution designed for RC enthusiasts and competitive racers in the UK who demand consistent, repeatable performance from their suspension systems. These Factory Team shock pistons are engineered to provide fine-tuned damping characteristics, allowing you to dial in your RC car's handling to suit specific track conditions, racing surfaces and your personal driving preferences. Whether you're preparing your RC buggy for competitive racing or simply looking to optimise your weekend basher's suspension feel, these pistons offer the versatility and quality expected from Team Associated's Factory Team range.

As part of the acclaimed Factory Team series, these shock pistons are manufactured to exacting standards for reliability and precision. The 2.0mm main piston diameter combined with the 2 x 1.5 hole configuration creates a specific damping profile that works seamlessly with appropriate shock oils and spring combinations. This makes them an ideal choice for racers and hobbyists alike who understand that suspension tuning is fundamental to achieving optimal handling, traction and overall vehicle performance on any RC track in the UK or abroad.

Compatible with a wide range of Team Associated RC10 series vehicles, these shock pistons represent an affordable yet effective way to upgrade your suspension setup and unlock hidden performance potential. When paired with quality shock fluid and properly selected springs, the FT 13mm shock pistons help deliver the responsive, predictable suspension behaviour that separates competitive machines from casual basher builds.

Key Features

  • Factory Team Precision Manufacturing — These pistons are crafted using Team Associated's Factory Team quality standards, ensuring tight tolerances and consistent performance across multiple units, which is critical when you need repeatable results during race testing and setup changes.
  • 2.0mm Piston Diameter — The primary piston diameter of 2.0mm is specifically engineered to work with 13mm shock bodies, providing the correct flow rate and damping response characteristics for optimal suspension tuning.
  • 2 x 1.5 Hole Configuration — The dual hole layout with 1.5mm specifications creates a balanced damping profile that responds well to various shock oil weights and allows fine-tuning of suspension feel across different track surfaces and conditions.
  • Tuning Flexibility — By selecting different shock piston specifications alongside appropriate shock oils, you can tailor your suspension damping response to suit aggressive track conditions, loose surfaces, grippy tarmac or anywhere in between, giving you complete control over handling characteristics.
  • Simple Installation and Maintenance — These pistons are straightforward to install during routine shock maintenance or when experimenting with different suspension setups during race preparation, making them accessible for both experienced competitors and dedicated hobbyists.
  • Compatible with Multiple RC10 Platforms — Designed to fit a comprehensive range of Team Associated RC10 series vehicles, these pistons provide a universal upgrade option across various buggy, truck and short-course models in the RC10 family.
  • Affordable Suspension Tuning — Shock pistons represent one of the most cost-effective ways to modify your RC car's suspension behaviour without investing in completely new shock units, making performance tuning accessible to all budget levels.

Technical Performance

These Team Associated FT 13mm shock pistons deliver precision engineering in a compact, high-performance package designed specifically for competitive RC racing and serious hobbyist applications. The 2.0mm piston diameter works in harmony with 13mm shock bodies commonly found across the RC10 range, including the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, RC10B7 and RC10B7D models. The 2 x 1.5 hole specification creates a carefully calculated damping profile that determines how shock fluid flows through the piston during compression and rebound cycles. This flow rate directly influences suspension response, affecting everything from initial traction off the line to corner exit acceleration and overall stability through high-speed sections. The quality of materials and precision machining ensures that each piston performs consistently, eliminating variables from your tuning equation so you can confidently make setup adjustments and measure their effect on track performance. When properly matched with complementary shock oil viscosities—typically available in various weights from thin to thick—these pistons allow you to create the exact suspension character your particular RC car setup requires, whether you're fine-tuning a championship-contending machine or simply exploring how suspension affects your RC buggy or truck's handling characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these FT shock pistons suitable for beginners in RC racing? — Yes, these pistons are suitable for anyone committed to understanding their RC car's suspension. While beginners may start with factory-standard pistons, upgrading to these Factory Team pistons as you progress into more serious racing will immediately demonstrate the benefits of suspension tuning. They're straightforward to install during shock maintenance and provide excellent value for developing your mechanical knowledge and tuning skills.
  • What vehicles are these shock pistons compatible with? — These 13mm shock pistons fit a comprehensive range of Team Associated RC10 series vehicles, specifically the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, RC10B7 and RC10B7D. If you own any of these models, these pistons will work with your existing shock bodies without requiring additional modifications.
  • How do I choose between different shock piston specifications? — Shock piston selection works alongside your choice of shock oil weight. The 2.0mm, 2 x 1.5 specification in this product creates a specific flow characteristic. By pairing it with different shock oil viscosities—thinner oils for softer damping or thicker oils for stiffer damping—you can fine-tune how your suspension responds. Experimenting with different combinations during track testing helps you discover the optimal setup for your driving style and local track conditions.
  • Do I need special tools to install these shock pistons? — No special tools are required beyond standard RC maintenance equipment. You'll need basic shock disassembly capability and perhaps a small wrench or hex key to access your shock bodies. The installation process is straightforward enough for hobbyists with basic mechanical experience, making these an accessible upgrade during routine shock maintenance.
  • What makes Factory Team shock pistons different from standard options? — Factory Team components like these pistons are manufactured to tighter tolerances and higher quality standards than basic options. This precision ensures that each piston performs consistently, eliminating manufacturing variables and allowing you to confidently make suspension adjustments and accurately measure their on-track effect. For competitive racers chasing lap time improvements, this reliability is invaluable.
  • Can I use these pistons if I'm new to RC car tuning? — Absolutely. While experienced racers will appreciate the fine-tuning possibilities, these pistons are straightforward enough for anyone learning about suspension setup. They represent an affordable way to explore how piston selection and shock oil choice influence your RC car's handling, making them excellent educational components alongside any suspension-focused learning you're undertaking.
