Overview

The Team Associated Front Shock Springs in grey (AS91832) deliver a precisely calibrated 3.60 lb/in spring rate designed for competitive RC tuning and performance optimisation. These front shock springs are essential replacement and upgrade components for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand consistency, reliability and fine-tuned suspension response. Whether you're competing at track level or enjoying weekend bashing with your RC car, selecting the correct spring rate is fundamental to achieving the handling characteristics you need. The grey colour coding makes identification quick and straightforward when organising multiple spring rates in your pit box, ensuring you grab the right springs every time you need to adjust your setup.

Team Associated has engineered these shock springs to deliver predictable, repeatable performance across a range of RC models and driving conditions. The 3.60 lb/in rate sits within the softer range of the modern Associated spring lineup, making it ideal for lower-grip surfaces and ungroomed track conditions where traction and bump absorption are at a premium. By selecting springs in different rates, you can fine-tune your vehicle's steering feel, overall support, ride height and responsiveness to perfectly match your specific track surface and driving style. This is why serious RC car UK competitors always carry multiple spring rates in their setup kits.

Available now from RC Model Shop, these genuine Team Associated springs represent the engineering excellence you'd expect from one of the most respected names in RC racing. Whether you're setting up a new RC buggy, replacing worn suspension components, or experimenting with different spring rates to optimise your vehicle's performance on ungroomed surfaces, these front shock springs deliver the quality and consistency that matters when precision is everything.

Key Features

  • Precision Spring Rate of 3.60 lb/in — This softer spring rate is specifically engineered to compress and conform more easily to bumpy, lower-grip track surfaces, providing superior traction and consistent contact with ungroomed terrain where standard stiffer springs might skip or lose grip.
  • 44mm Length Design — The 44mm free length is optimised to fit and function correctly within 16mm shock absorbers used across a range of Team Associated RC vehicles, ensuring proper suspension geometry and performance characteristics.
  • Grey Colour Identification — Distinctive grey colour coding on the springs makes quick identification and organisation simple when managing multiple spring rates in your pit box, reducing setup errors and saving time between races.
  • 1.5mm Wire Diameter Construction — Built with 1.5mm wire diameter technology that gives the spring a different natural frequency and stress profile compared to older 1.6mm wire springs, allowing easier compression and better conformity to track surfaces in lower-grip conditions.
  • Tightly Grouped Coil Variation — Team Associated maintains strict manufacturing tolerances with approximately 0.25 coil variation between springs, ensuring fine-tuned rate consistency across the entire package for reliable, repeatable suspension tuning.
  • Both Ends Colour Marked — Dual colour marking on both ends of the spring distinguishes the new 1.5mm wire springs from older 1.6mm wire versions, preventing accidental mixing of different spring technologies in your suspension setup.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated AS91832 front shock springs represent the latest generation of suspension engineering developed specifically for ungroomed and bumpy track surfaces. Team Associated's engineers discovered that the previous generation of 1.6mm wire springs, whilst performing excellently on high-grip fast layouts, struggled to maintain consistent grip on ungroomed tracks where surface irregularities demand more compliance from the suspension. By reducing the wire diameter to 1.5mm, these new springs achieve a different natural frequency and create different stress characteristics on the wire itself, enabling the spring to compress and conform more readily to track imperfections and maintain better traction in lower-grip conditions. The 3.60 lb/in rate places these springs in the softer end of the modern range, sitting below the standard 3.7 lb/in pink spring included in many RC kit builds. This makes them ideal for drivers seeking improved bump handling and more predictable front-end behaviour on challenging, ungroomed surfaces where traction is absolutely critical. The 44mm length has been optimised to work with Team Associated's current shock tower designs whilst maintaining proper suspension geometry. With approximately 0.25 coil variation across the package, these springs offer extraordinarily tight tolerances for precision tuning, allowing you to match your spring setup precisely to current grip levels and track conditions. The dual colour marking on both ends ensures you never accidentally mix these advanced 1.5mm wire springs with older 1.6mm wire technology, protecting your carefully calibrated suspension setup. Material construction uses premium spring steel engineered to withstand the demanding cycles of competitive RC racing without permanent deformation or loss of spring rate over extended use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 3.60 lb/in spring rate mean and how does it compare to other rates? — Spring rate, measured in lb/in (pounds per inch), indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 3.60 lb/in rate is considered softer than standard kit springs (typically 3.7 lb/in or higher), making it ideal for lower-grip surfaces and ungroomed tracks where better bump absorption and traction are priorities. Softer springs compress more easily under bumps and load transfer, whilst stiffer springs provide more support and stability on high-grip surfaces.
  • Which RC models are these springs compatible with? — These 44mm front springs are designed to fit 16mm shock absorbers used on a wide range of Team Associated RC vehicles. Check your vehicle's shock absorber size and suspension design before purchasing to ensure compatibility with your specific model.
  • How do the new 1.5mm wire springs differ from older 1.6mm wire springs? — The 1.5mm wire diameter creates a different natural frequency and stress profile, allowing the spring to compress and conform more easily to track surfaces in lower-grip conditions. The old 1.6mm wire springs perform better on high-grip fast layouts but struggle on ungroomed tracks. Team Associated colour marks both ends of the 1.5mm springs to prevent accidental mixing with 1.6mm versions.
  • When would I need to use different spring rates? — Spring rate selection depends entirely on your track surface conditions and driving style. Use the softer 3.60 lb/in rate (like these springs) on ungroomed, bumpy surfaces or lower-grip tracks to improve traction and bump handling. Use stiffer rates on high-grip smooth surfaces for better stability and support. Experiment with different rates to find the optimal setup for your specific conditions.
  • Are these suitable for beginners? — Whilst these springs are professional-grade components used in competitive RC racing, they're equally suitable for recreational drivers and beginners who want to optimise their vehicle's performance. Understanding how spring rates affect handling is part of learning RC tuning, and experimenting with different rates is an excellent way to develop your suspension knowledge.
  • How tight are the manufacturing tolerances on these springs? — Team Associated maintains approximately 0.25 coil variation across the entire spring package, which is exceptionally tight for precision RC tuning. This means the springs in a pair will have virtually identical rates, ensuring balanced, predictable suspension behaviour across both sides of your vehicle.
