Overview

The Team Associated Front Shock Springs Green 3.10 lb/in L44mm (AS91830) are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC car enthusiasts who demand consistent performance and reliable handling characteristics. Whether you're competing in organised RC racing events across the UK or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, these front shock springs are essential tuning components that directly influence your vehicle's steering response, support and overall balance. Identified by their distinctive green colour code, these springs deliver a moderate spring rate that suits a wide range of RC 10th scale vehicles in the Team Associated lineup, from the latest B6.3 platform through to classic models like the RB10 Retro and SR10 Dirt Oval.

If you're serious about optimising your RC buggy's handling characteristics, shock spring selection is one of the most fundamental suspension adjustments you can make. Unlike many other tuning modifications, springs are a permanent fixture on your vehicle and they work in conjunction with your dampers to control weight transfer, ride height and overall platform stability. The Team Associated brand is recognised globally for manufacturing suspension components with exceptional consistency, and these front shock springs are no exception. They are manufactured to exacting tolerances to ensure that every spring delivers the precise 3.10 lb/in rate specified, helping you achieve predictable, repeatable handling whether you're tuning for maximum grip on a clay circuit or setting up for high-speed bash sessions on rough terrain.

Team Associated has been the choice of RC car racers for decades, and their suspension components are trusted by club racers and competitive drivers right across the UK and internationally. These front shock springs represent a straightforward way to refine your RC car's performance without requiring any special tools or technical expertise beyond basic suspension knowledge. Available now from RC Model Shop with next-day shipping on most UK orders, the Team Associated Front Shock Springs Green 3.10 lb/in are an investment in consistent, predictable handling that will improve your driving experience immediately.

Key Features

  • Green Colour Code Rating — Team Associated uses a universal colour-coding system for their suspension springs, with green indicating the 3.10 lb/in spring rate. This colour code system makes it simple to identify and organise your spring collection, and helps you quickly match springs to your setup notes and tuning records.
  • 3.10 lb/in Spring Rate — This moderate spring rate is soft enough to provide compliance over bumps and maintain good traction on uneven surfaces, yet stiff enough to support your vehicle's weight during cornering and acceleration. This balanced spring rate suits a wide range of driving conditions and is popular for both competitive racing and general bashful driving across varied terrain types common in the UK.
  • 44mm Free Length — The 44mm length is the unloaded measurement of the spring and is critical for ensuring proper shock geometry and ride height on compatible Team Associated models. This specific length ensures that your suspension operates within the intended motion range, allowing full compression and extension travel without binding or bottoming out prematurely.
  • Front Shock Application — These springs are specifically designed for front shock absorber applications, where they work in tandem with your shock damper to control vertical weight transfer and maintain consistent platform height during cornering and braking events. Front springs are typically softer than rear springs on most RC buggies to provide better grip and more predictable handling characteristics.
  • Universal 12mm Bore Compatibility — The springs are designed to fit Team Associated shock absorbers with 12mm bore diameter, which is the standard size across most of their RC 10th scale vehicle platforms. This 12mm bore size is widespread across their product range, ensuring compatibility with numerous models in your collection.
  • Precision Manufacturing — Team Associated springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring that each spring delivers consistent rate and behaviour across its operating range. This manufacturing consistency means you can trust that your handling will remain predictable lap after lap, session after session.
  • Pairable with Damping Adjustments — For optimal results, these springs work best when paired with appropriate damping settings and ride height adjustments. Team Associated suspension kits often allow you to tune rebound and compression damping, giving you multiple layers of suspension tuning to refine your vehicle's handling.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Front Shock Springs Green 3.10 lb/in deliver predictable suspension performance across a wide range of driving conditions encountered on UK racing circuits and bashing terrain. The 3.10 lb/in spring rate represents a popular mid-range option that provides excellent all-around performance characteristics. Softer springs (typically 2.6 lb/in or lower) compress more readily and provide greater compliance over small bumps, making them ideal for high-grip carpet or high-speed racing on smooth tracks. Conversely, stiffer springs (3.5 lb/in and above) resist compression more aggressively, reducing squat during acceleration and dive during braking, which suits rough off-road terrain and high-speed bashing where maintaining platform stability is critical. The 3.10 lb/in rate sits right in the middle of this spectrum, making it an excellent starting point for drivers transitioning between different driving conditions or vehicle setups. The 44mm free length ensures proper geometry when installed in compatible Team Associated shock absorbers, allowing the spring to compress through its full operational range without binding or losing effectiveness. These springs are passive components — they have no moving parts and require no power or servicing beyond occasional cleaning. Over time, springs can lose their temper (become softer) due to repeated compression cycles, particularly if exposed to extreme temperatures, but Team Associated springs are manufactured from high-quality steel alloys that resist this degradation far better than budget aftermarket alternatives. The green colour code makes identification simple, and maintaining a collection of springs in different rates allows you to quickly experiment with handling characteristics and dial in your vehicle's suspension for any track condition or driving style you encounter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do the different spring colour codes mean in Team Associated suspension kits? — Team Associated uses a universal colour-coding system across their suspension springs to identify different spring rates at a glance. Green indicates a 3.10 lb/in rate, making it easy to identify and organise springs when you're building multiple setups or experimenting with different tuning combinations. Softer springs typically use colours like white or yellow, while stiffer springs use colours like silver or red. Always consult the Team Associated spring colour code chart (available for download from their website) to ensure you're selecting the correct rate for your application.
  • How do I choose between different spring rates for my RC buggy? — Spring rate selection depends on your driving style, track conditions and vehicle platform. Softer springs (2.6 lb/in and below) provide more compliance and grip on smooth, high-traction surfaces but can cause excessive squat and dive. Stiffer springs (3.5 lb/in and above) reduce squat and dive for better platform control on rough terrain but may sacrifice compliance on smooth surfaces. The 3.10 lb/in rate offers a balanced compromise suitable for most drivers and conditions. Start with the manufacturer's recommended rate, then adjust by one step at a time until you achieve the handling characteristics you prefer.
  • Do I need to replace both front springs at the same time? — Yes, for consistent handling it's essential to replace both front springs simultaneously using springs of identical rate. Mismatched spring rates will cause the vehicle to sit unevenly and will compromise handling balance and predictability. Always purchase springs in pairs and install them together to maintain suspension symmetry.
  • How often do suspension springs need to be replaced? — Suspension springs are durable components but they can lose their temper (become softer) over time due to repeated compression cycles and exposure to temperature extremes. Most RC racers replace springs annually or after extensive use to maintain handling consistency and performance predictability. If you notice handling becoming vague or the vehicle sitting lower than usual despite correct ride height adjustment, spring replacement is likely warranted.
  • What is the difference between front and rear shock springs? — Front and rear springs have different spring rates because they perform different functions in your suspension system. Front springs are typically softer to provide better grip and compliance, while rear springs are usually stiffer to prevent excessive squat during acceleration. Never interchange front and rear springs, as this will compromise handling balance and vehicle stability.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Spring replacement is one of the most straightforward suspension adjustments and requires no special tools or technical expertise. The 3.10 lb/in rate is a popular starting point that works well for most drivers across a variety of conditions. If you're new to RC tuning, these springs paired with stock damper settings provide an excellent baseline setup.
  • Will changing my spring rate affect my vehicle's top speed? — Spring rate has minimal direct impact on top speed, though it can affect traction and handling consistency at high speeds. Softer springs may improve grip on smooth surfaces, while stiffer springs may reduce squat and improve platform stability during hard acceleration. Experiment with different rates to find the setup that feels best for your driving style.
