Overview

The Team Associated B6.1 Slipper Spring (AS91801) is an essential OEM replacement component for RC enthusiasts who demand consistent performance from their 1/10 scale buggy. This genuine Associated spare part is specifically engineered for the B6.1 platform, one of the most popular 2WD competition buggies in the UK RC racing community. Whether you're a serious racer maintaining your competition setup or a weekend basher looking to keep your RC car UK-ready for the next session, this slipper spring is a crucial component that should always be in your spares box.

The slipper clutch system on modern RC buggies like the B6.1 is vital for protecting your drivetrain from shock loads and preventing expensive damage during hard landings and aggressive acceleration. Over time, the slipper spring weakens with use, resulting in inconsistent tension, unpredictable power delivery, and ultimately poor handling characteristics. By replacing your worn slipper spring with this genuine OEM component, you'll restore the precise tension calibration that Team Associated engineers designed into your buggy, ensuring smooth, repeatable power delivery every single time you hit the track or field.

As an official authorised Associated retailer, RC Model Shop stocks only genuine OEM parts. This compact drivetrain component is quick to install and maintains the integrity of your B6.1's slipper clutch system, keeping your RC car running at peak performance. It's the perfect spare to keep on hand for quick maintenance between runs at the track.

Key Features

  • Genuine OEM Associated Component — This is an authentic factory-manufactured part sourced directly from Team Associated, ensuring perfect fitment and performance characteristics that match the original specification of your B6.1 buggy. Using OEM spares eliminates compatibility issues and maintains the engineering integrity of your RC car.
  • Slipper Clutch Spring Replacement — The slipper spring is responsible for maintaining consistent tension in your slipper clutch system, which protects the drivetrain during hard landings, wheelies, and aggressive acceleration. A fresh spring restores the precise engagement and slip characteristics your buggy was designed with.
  • Restores Consistent Slipper Tension — Worn springs lose their spring rate over time, leading to inconsistent power delivery and unpredictable handling. This replacement spring brings your slipper system back to factory specification, delivering smooth, repeatable performance lap after lap.
  • Compact Drivetrain Component — The slipper spring is a small but critical part of the B6.1's drivetrain. Its compact size makes it easy to carry multiple spares to the track, and quick to change during maintenance between runs.
  • Essential Maintenance Spare — Every serious B6.1 racer and basher should keep this part in their spares collection. Regular inspection and replacement of the slipper spring as part of your maintenance routine will keep your buggy performing consistently and prevent more expensive drivetrain damage.
  • B6.1 Platform Compatibility — This part is designed specifically for the Team Associated B6.1 2WD buggy platform. The B6.1 remains one of the most popular competition buggies for UK RC racing, with countless racers relying on this proven platform for both club racing and national-level competition.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated B6.1 Slipper Spring is engineered to the exact specifications required by the B6.1 slipper clutch system. The slipper clutch itself is a mechanical slip system that allows the rear axle to continue rotating independently of the motor during situations where the rear wheels would otherwise lock up—such as during hard landings from jumps, rapid deceleration, or when the front wheels hit an obstacle. The spring maintains the tension that keeps the slipper engaged under normal driving conditions whilst allowing controlled slip when loads exceed the set threshold. This prevents catastrophic damage to the gears, driveshafts, and differential components. The B6.1 is a precision 1/10 scale 2WD off-road buggy designed for both recreational and competitive use, and maintaining the slipper system in perfect working order is essential for reliable performance. The spring is manufactured from high-quality spring steel to resist fatigue and maintain its spring rate across thousands of engagement cycles. By replacing your slipper spring regularly—typically every 10-20 hours of running time depending on driving style and conditions—you'll ensure your B6.1 maintains the handling balance and drivetrain protection that makes it such a respected platform in the RC buggy UK racing community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a slipper clutch and why does the spring need replacing? — The slipper clutch is a mechanical slip system that protects your RC buggy's drivetrain from shock loads during hard landings and aggressive acceleration. The spring inside the slipper maintains the tension that keeps the system engaged during normal driving. Over time, with thousands of engagement cycles, the spring loses its spring rate and becomes weaker. This causes inconsistent slipper tension, unpredictable power delivery, and poor handling. Replacing the worn spring with a fresh OEM component restores the original performance characteristics your B6.1 was designed with.
  • How often should I replace the slipper spring on my B6.1? — This depends on your driving style and conditions, but most racers and serious bashers should inspect and potentially replace the slipper spring every 10-20 hours of running time. Aggressive drivers, those who bash hard jumps frequently, or those running in sandy or muddy conditions may need to replace it more often. It's always wise to keep a spare on hand so you can swap it out quickly if you notice inconsistent power delivery or slipper engagement.
  • Is this part suitable for both racing and bashing? — Yes, absolutely. Whether you're competing in B6.1 club races, national-level competitions, or simply bashing at the local field on weekends, this genuine OEM slipper spring will maintain your buggy's performance. The B6.1 is renowned for being equally at home in competitive racing and recreational use, and maintaining the slipper system is important for both applications.
  • Will this spring work on other Team Associated buggies? — This spring is specifically designed for the B6.1 platform. Whilst Team Associated makes many excellent buggies across different platforms and scales, each has its own unique slipper clutch system. Always refer to your vehicle's manual to confirm correct part fitment. Using the correct OEM part ensures perfect compatibility and performance.
  • How do I install the slipper spring? — Installation instructions are provided in your B6.1's vehicle manual. The slipper spring is part of the slipper clutch assembly, typically located in the rear drivetrain. If you're unfamiliar with slipper clutch service, our team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance or you may choose to have a professional RC technician perform the installation. Proper setup is important for achieving correct slipper tension.
  • Is this an authentic Team Associated part? — Yes, this is a genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part sourced directly from Team Associated. As an authorised Associated retailer, RC Model Shop stocks only authentic components. This ensures perfect fitment, correct specifications, and the quality you expect from a factory-manufactured spare.
