Overview
The Associated B6.1 Aluminium Differential Height Inserts (AS91793) are precision-engineered upgrade components designed for owners of Associated B6.1 RC buggies and related platform vehicles. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your 1/10 scale RC car UK setup or an enthusiast looking to upgrade from standard components, these aluminium differential height inserts offer a robust and durable alternative to the factory plastic adjusters. Manufactured by Associated, a legendary name in RC racing and engineering, these inserts represent a straightforward yet significant performance enhancement that serious RC car builders and setup specialists rely upon.
Differential height adjustment is a critical tuning parameter in competitive RC racing and high-performance driving. The ability to dial in precise differential geometry directly impacts how your RC buggy handles cornering, traction control, and overall stability during aggressive driving. By upgrading to these long-lasting aluminium versions, you gain the durability and consistency needed for repeated setup adjustments without wear or degradation. These inserts are compatible with several Associated models, making them a versatile addition to your RC spares collection for the B6.1, B6.1D, B6.1DL, B6.2, B6.2D, B6.3, B6.4, B6.4D, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, Reflex 14B, SC6.4, RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2, and other compatible platforms.
The AS91793 inserts combine practical engineering with user-friendly design. The clearly etched orientation numbers on each insert eliminate confusion during setup and maintenance, allowing you to quickly identify the correct height setting and orientation without squinting or referencing guides. For RC enthusiasts who regularly adjust their differential settings—whether preparing for a track day, tuning for different surfaces, or experimenting with geometry changes—this feature saves valuable time in the pits and ensures you can replicate proven setups with confidence.
Key Features
- Aluminium Construction — The inserts are manufactured from durable aluminium rather than plastic, providing superior longevity and resistance to wear from repeated adjustments, temperature cycling, and the vibration inherent in high-speed RC driving, ensuring your investment maintains its precision over thousands of running hours.
- Etched Orientation Numbers — Each insert features clearly etched numbering directly onto the surface, making the orientation and height setting immediately visible without requiring you to check packaging or reference materials, streamlining setup procedures and reducing the risk of accidental misalignment.
- Direct Replacement Design — These inserts are engineered as drop-in replacements for the standard plastic differential height adjusters on your Associated B6.1 or compatible model, requiring no modification to your chassis, drilling, or other complicated installation procedures, making the upgrade accessible to builders of all experience levels.
- Consistent Geometry Control — Aluminium's dimensional stability ensures that your differential height settings remain consistent across multiple uses and environmental conditions, providing repeatable handling characteristics essential for competitive RC racing and precision tuning on UK RC tracks and bash courses.
- Wide Model Compatibility — The AS91793 inserts are compatible with numerous Associated platforms including the B6.1, B6.1D, B6.1DL, B6.2, B6.2D, B6.3, B6.4, B6.4D, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, Reflex 14B, SC6.4, RC10SC6.1, and RC10SC6.2, making them a smart investment if you maintain multiple Associated vehicles or are planning to upgrade your fleet.
Technical Performance
The Associated B6.1 Aluminium Differential Height Inserts represent a thoughtful engineering solution for precision RC chassis tuning. Manufactured from high-grade aluminium, these components resist the micro-deformations and creep that can occur with plastic adjusters under repeated assembly and disassembly cycles. The material choice directly addresses a common pain point for serious RC racers: maintaining consistent differential geometry across multiple setup iterations. Aluminium's superior strength-to-weight ratio ensures that the inserts add negligible mass to your chassis while delivering substantially improved durability compared to the standard components. The etched orientation markings are applied with precision to remain legible through regular use, weathering, and cleaning without fading or becoming difficult to read. For builders working with Associated's platform designs—whether the classic B6.1 buggy, the T6.1 truck, or the newer B6.3 and B6.4 iterations—these inserts provide the kind of incremental performance advantage that competitive racers value: better repeatability, reduced setup time, and increased confidence in your geometry settings between races or practice sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a differential height insert and why would I need to upgrade mine? — The differential height insert controls the angle and geometry of your RC buggy's differential assembly, which directly affects how power is distributed to the wheels during cornering and acceleration. The standard plastic inserts on the B6.1 can wear or deform over time with repeated setup adjustments, potentially causing your carefully tuned geometry to drift. Upgrading to aluminium inserts ensures that your differential settings remain consistent and repeatable, which is especially important if you're preparing your RC car for competitive racing or want to maintain precise handling characteristics across multiple driving sessions.
- Will these inserts fit my Associated B6.1 RC buggy? — Yes, the AS91793 inserts are engineered as direct replacements for the standard differential height adjusters on the B6.1. They are also compatible with numerous other Associated platforms including the B6.1D, B6.1DL, B6.2, B6.2D, B6.3, B6.4, B6.4D, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, Reflex 14B, SC6.4, RC10SC6.1, and RC10SC6.2, making them a versatile upgrade if you own multiple Associated vehicles.
- How do the etched numbers help during setup? — The orientation numbers are clearly marked directly onto each aluminium insert, allowing you to instantly identify which insert is installed and at what height setting without needing to remove the differential or consult documentation. This feature is invaluable during setup procedures, especially in competitive environments where time is limited and setup accuracy is crucial. You can photograph your proven geometry setup and quickly replicate it next time by matching the numbered inserts, eliminating guesswork and ensuring consistency between races or practice sessions.
- Are these suitable for beginners? — These inserts are ideal for anyone looking to upgrade their Associated B6.1 or compatible model with more durable components. Beginners will appreciate the straightforward installation—they are direct replacements requiring no special tools or modifications—while experienced racers will value the precision and consistency they provide. If you are new to RC car setup and tuning, upgrading to aluminium inserts is a sensible first modification that will help you understand how geometry affects handling without introducing complexity.
- How do aluminium inserts compare to the standard plastic versions? — Aluminium is significantly more durable and resistant to wear than plastic, meaning the inserts will maintain their dimensional accuracy through hundreds of setup adjustments and environmental cycles. Plastic inserts can develop micro-cracks, deform under temperature changes, or wear at contact points, potentially causing your differential height to shift unexpectedly. With aluminium inserts, you gain the confidence that your settings will remain stable, making it easier to identify whether any handling changes are due to setup adjustments or track conditions rather than component wear.
