Overview
The Team Associated B6.1 Rear Shock Tower Tall Graphite (AS91770) is an essential replacement or upgrade component for the renowned Team Associated B6.1 platform, one of the most successful 1/10 scale 2WD off-road buggies ever designed. This heavy-duty rear shock tower represents decades of championship-winning engineering from the manufacturer that has claimed 12 of the 17 I.F.M.A.R. World Championships since the class began. The B6.1 platform was specifically engineered for tracks with very high traction, where a forward centre of gravity is beneficial and chassis roll needs to be controlled through low centre of gravity design and anti-roll bar technology. Whether you're maintaining your existing RC buggy or building a fresh B6.1 setup, this tall graphite rear tower provides the durability and precision engineering that competitive RC racing demands.
This rear shock tower is specifically designed for the B6.1 configuration and is manufactured from heavy-duty graphite material that balances weight savings with structural rigidity. The tall variant is particularly suited to setups requiring additional ride height clearance and improved shock geometry for specific track conditions. As a direct replacement part or upgrade component, it maintains full compatibility with the entire B6.1 ecosystem of parts and accessories, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car UK setup with genuine Team Associated components. The graphite construction ensures excellent durability whilst keeping unsprung weight to a minimum, which is critical for maintaining responsiveness and control on competitive circuits.
RC enthusiasts across the UK have long trusted Team Associated for their commitment to quality and innovation in RC car design. The B6.1 continues this tradition with engineering that prioritises performance, adjustability, and reliability. Whether you're a seasoned racer preparing for a championship event, a weekend basher looking to refresh your setup, or an RC hobbyist building your first competitive buggy, the AS91770 rear shock tower delivers the precision and durability you need to perform at your best.
Key Features
- Heavy-Duty Graphite Construction — The rear shock tower is manufactured from heavy-duty graphite material that provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring your shock assembly remains secure and responsive whilst minimising unsprung mass that could affect handling and traction.
- Tall Variant Design — The tall specification provides additional clearance and optimised shock geometry for the B6.1 platform, allowing you to achieve the exact setup characteristics your specific track conditions demand.
- V2 Routed Configuration — The V2 routing design optimises the path of components and improves overall chassis geometry, contributing to the superior handling characteristics the B6.1 is famous for amongst competitive RC racing circles.
- Full B6.1 Compatibility — This component is engineered as a direct fit for the Team Associated B6.1 buggy platform and maintains compatibility with all other B6.1 parts, allowing seamless integration into your existing setup or new build.
- Precision-Engineered Component — Every detail is designed with racing in mind, from the mounting points to the shock clearance, reflecting Team Associated's championship-winning design philosophy.
- Suitable for High-Traction Tracks — The B6.1 platform and all its components, including this rear tower, are optimised for tracks with very high traction where low centre of gravity and anti-roll bar tuning provide competitive advantage.
- Direct Replacement Option — If your current rear shock tower has been damaged during racing or requires refreshing, this genuine Team Associated part provides an authentic replacement maintaining your buggy's original engineering standards.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated B6.1 rear shock tower tall graphite represents the engineering excellence that has made Team Associated the most successful 2WD buggy manufacturer in I.F.M.A.R. history. The B6.1 platform specifically targets tracks with very high traction, utilising a low centre of gravity achieved through the 3-gear laydown Stealth transmission and anti-roll bar system integrated into the chassis design. The graphite construction of this rear tower provides optimal stiffness whilst keeping unsprung weight minimal, critical for maintaining responsive handling when cornering at speed. The tall variant geometry works in conjunction with V2 shock bodies (available in 12x23mm and 12x27.5mm specifications) and the innovative rear arm featuring molded inserts for ultra-fine lower shock mount adjustment. The integrated design allows for adjustable anti-squat and toe-in through aluminium C and D arm mounts, giving racers the fine control necessary for competitive racing. This component forms part of the comprehensive B6.1 design that includes easy-access differential with height adjustment (0, 1, 2, and 3mm inserts), new slipper assembly for improved weight balance and shock clearance, and heavy-duty V2 rear axle with 67mm bones. The precision machining and manufacturing tolerances ensure that the shock tower maintains alignment under the stresses of competitive racing, where vibration and impacts on indoor carpet, dirt, and outdoor astroturf circuits can stress components repeatedly throughout long racing events.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Team Associated B6.1 Rear Shock Tower suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement component designed for the B6.1 platform, which requires assembly and tuning expertise. It is best suited to RC enthusiasts with experience in buggy setup and maintenance rather than absolute beginners, though it integrates seamlessly into any B6.1 build.
- What is the difference between the tall and standard rear shock tower variants? — The tall variant provides additional ride height clearance and optimised shock geometry for specific track conditions where extra suspension travel or different shock angle is beneficial. The standard height variant offers a lower centre of gravity preferred on some high-traction tracks. Choice between them depends on your specific track characteristics and desired setup characteristics.
- Can I use this rear shock tower with other Team Associated buggies? — This component is engineered specifically for the B6.1 platform and is not compatible with other platforms. The B6.1 features unique geometry and component integration that makes compatibility with earlier B6 variants or other model lines limited or impossible.
- What shock bodies work with this tall rear tower? — The B6.1 platform uses V2 shock bodies available in 12x23mm and 12x27.5mm specifications. Both sizes are compatible with this rear tower, with choice depending on your desired spring rates and shock geometry preferences for your specific track.
- Is this graphite construction durable for competitive racing? — Yes, Team Associated's heavy-duty graphite construction has been proven through multiple I.F.M.A.R. World Championship campaigns. The material provides excellent strength whilst keeping unsprung weight minimal, critical for responsive handling in competitive racing environments.
- What level of racing is the B6.1 suitable for? — The B6.1 is a competition-grade platform used by professional racers and serious hobbyists in indoor carpet championships, outdoor dirt racing, and astroturf circuits. Its winning history and adjustability make it suitable for drivers committed to competitive racing rather than casual bashing.
