Overview

The Team Associated 3x29 Shock Shafts V2 represent precision engineering for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliable, durable components for their 1/10 scale buggies. These genuine Team Associated shock shafts feature a protective TiN (Titanium Nitride) finish that dramatically extends component lifespan and maintains consistent performance through countless runs on the track or across varied terrain. Whether you're maintaining a competition buggy, restoring a well-used platform, or upgrading worn components, these shock shafts deliver the quality and reliability that competitive RC drivers have trusted for years.

Specifically designed for the Team Associated B74 platform—a range that includes the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.2, and related models—these V2 specification shafts ensure perfect compatibility with your existing suspension setup. The 3x29mm sizing is a critical specification that matches the shock bodies and suspension architecture of these buggies, making these shafts an essential spare part for any RC car UK enthusiast who wants to maintain peak performance. The V2 designation indicates these are the latest iteration of this component, incorporating design refinements and improvements that reflect years of racing feedback from the global RC community.

RC Model Shop stocks genuine Team Associated components for UK customers, and this particular part is essential maintenance. Whether you're a weekend basher enjoying your brushless RC buggy or a serious competitor preparing for races, having quality replacement shock shafts ensures your suspension operates smoothly and responsibly throughout the life of your vehicle.

Key Features

  • TiN Finish Protection — The Titanium Nitride coating provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance, protecting the shaft from corrosion and extending the lifespan of your shock assembly far beyond standard steel alternatives, which is especially important in the UK's variable weather conditions.
  • V2 Specification — This is the second generation of this component, incorporating refinements and improvements that have been tested and validated by Team Associated's racing engineers, ensuring superior performance and reliability compared to earlier versions.
  • Precise 3x29mm Sizing — The exact dimensions are critical for proper fit and function within Team Associated shock bodies, with the 3mm diameter shaft and 29mm length engineered to work seamlessly with your buggy's suspension geometry and ride height adjustments.
  • Team Associated B74 Compatibility — These shafts are specifically engineered for the entire RC10B74 family of buggies, including B74, B74.1, and B74.2 variants, making them an essential spare for anyone running these popular competition platforms.
  • Durable Material Construction — The underlying steel core combined with TiN surface treatment creates a component that resists bending, cracking and wear far better than standard steel shafts, which translates to more consistent shock performance during competitive racing or weekend bashing.
  • Essential Maintenance Part — These shafts are wear items that gradually degrade through normal use, collisions and environmental exposure, making replacement shafts an important inventory item for serious RC enthusiasts who want to maintain their buggies in peak condition.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated 3x29 Shock Shafts V2 represent the pinnacle of Team Associated's engineering expertise in suspension components. The TiN coating adds a hard, protective layer that resists the scratching, corrosion and wear that occurs during normal RC buggy operation, whether you're running on outdoor dirt tracks, indoor carpet racing surfaces, or backyard bash terrain across the UK. The 3mm diameter provides the exact stiffness and strength needed to transfer suspension forces cleanly through the shock assembly without unnecessary deflection, whilst the 29mm length ensures perfect geometry alignment with your RC10B74 buggy's suspension towers and arms. These shafts work in conjunction with shock bodies, piston assemblies and springs to create a suspension system that absorbs impacts, maintains consistent ride height, and keeps your wheels planted for optimal traction and handling. The V2 specification indicates that Team Associated has incorporated feedback from years of racing at the highest levels, refining the design for improved reliability and performance. Whether you're running 2S or 3S LiPo battery power through your brushless RC car, maintaining properly functioning shocks with quality shafts is essential for controlled acceleration, predictable braking, and responsive steering inputs through corners and jumps.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the TiN finish and why does it matter for RC shock shafts? — TiN stands for Titanium Nitride, a hard ceramic coating that's bonded to the steel shaft surface. This finish is significantly harder than bare steel, providing superior resistance to scratching, corrosion and wear. For RC buggy owners in the UK, this means your shock shafts will maintain smooth operation for longer, resisting the corrosive effects of moisture and mud whilst surviving normal impacts and collisions that occur during racing or bashing.
  • Are these shafts suitable for my RC buggy? — These shafts are specifically designed for Team Associated B74 platform buggies, including the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, and RC10B74.2 models. If you own one of these buggies or compatible variants, these are the correct replacement shafts. Check your buggy's documentation or the part compatibility guide to confirm your model before ordering.
  • When should I replace my shock shafts? — Shock shafts are wear items that gradually degrade through normal use. You should consider replacement if you notice oil leaking from your shocks, if the suspension feels inconsistent or bouncy, if the shafts appear bent or damaged, or as part of regular maintenance during off-season rebuilds. Many competitive RC racers replace shocks seasonally to ensure peak performance.
  • What is the difference between V2 and earlier versions? — The V2 designation indicates this is the second generation of this component, incorporating design refinements and improvements based on feedback from Team Associated's racing programme and customer experience. These improvements ensure better reliability, more consistent performance and enhanced durability compared to the original specification.
  • Do I need any special tools to install these shafts? — Installing shock shafts typically requires basic RC tools and knowledge of shock assembly. You'll need to disassemble your shock bodies, remove the old shafts, and install the new ones along with pistons, springs and seals. If you're not experienced with shock building, consider consulting your buggy's instruction manual or seeking advice from experienced RC enthusiasts.
  • What other components might I need when replacing shock shafts? — Shock shafts work as part of a complete assembly that includes shock bodies, pistons, springs, collars, and bushings. If you're doing a complete shock rebuild, you might also want to refresh the shock fluid and consider replacement o-rings and rebuild kits to ensure optimal performance.
