Technical Performance
The Team Associated AS91492 represents precision engineering focused on maintaining suspension integrity in competitive and recreational RC vehicles. The M2 x 4mm BHCS bleeder screws are manufactured to tight tolerances, ensuring consistent performance across multiple assembly and disassembly cycles. The button head cap screw design provides a secure fastening point whilst the integrated washer distributes clamping force evenly across the gasket surface. The gaskets themselves are engineered with Team Associated's proven elastomer compounds that resist degradation from common shock fluids including silicone oils commonly used in RC suspensions. These components are essential for maintaining the sealed shock environment necessary for proper damping response. In the competitive RC buggy and truck racing scene across the UK, shock maintenance is recognised as critical for consistent lap times and reliable performance. The separation between a winning setup and a mediocre one often comes down to well-maintained suspension components. By regularly replacing worn bleeder screws and gaskets, racers maintain the precise sealing that keeps shock fluid where it belongs—inside the shock body. This directly translates to predictable handling characteristics and eliminates variables caused by fluid leakage. The AS91492 set allows you to maintain this level of performance consistency without significant cost or downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Team Associated RC cars are compatible with the AS91492 bleeder gasket set? — The AS91492 is primarily designed for the RC10B5 and RC10B5M platforms, but Team Associated's modular shock design means these components are compatible across a broad range of Team Associated vehicles including the B5, B5M, B6, B6D, B64D, B64, B6.1, B6.1D, B6.2, B6.2D, SC5M, SC10, T5M, T6.1, T6.2, DR10, DR10M and numerous other models. If you are uncertain about compatibility with your specific model, we recommend contacting our team at RC Model Shop for confirmation before ordering.
- How often should I replace bleeder screws and gaskets on my RC shocks? — The frequency depends on your usage patterns. Competitive racers who run multiple meetings per week may want to refresh these components every few months, whilst casual weekend bashers might find replacement necessary annually or when they notice fluid leakage from the shock caps. Always inspect gaskets for visible wear, cracks, or hardening before each major event or race meeting.
- Can I use aftermarket bleeder gaskets instead of genuine Team Associated components? — Whilst some aftermarket gaskets may physically fit, genuine Team Associated components like the AS91492 offer superior reliability and performance. OEM gaskets are engineered using the same elastomer compounds and specifications that Team Associated engineers developed for their shock systems. Using genuine components ensures predictable sealing characteristics and eliminates potential compatibility issues that can arise with non-OEM parts.
- What tools do I need to replace the bleeder screws and gaskets? — Replacement is straightforward and requires only basic tools: an appropriately-sized hex wrench or Allen key to fit the M2 x 4mm button head cap screw. You may also want to have some small needle-nose pliers available to carefully remove the old gasket. Most RC enthusiasts can complete the replacement in under five minutes per shock cap.
- Will this set work with my Team Associated 1/10 buggy or 1/8 truggy? — This set is compatible with Team Associated 12mm V2 shock caps regardless of whether your vehicle is a 1/10 scale buggy, 1/8 scale truck, or other platform using the same shock specification. Team Associated uses this standard shock design across multiple scales and vehicle types within their product range.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The AS91492 bleeder gasket set is suitable for RC enthusiasts of all experience levels. Replacement is a simple maintenance task that does not require advanced mechanical knowledge or specialist equipment. Beginners should view shock maintenance as an important part of responsible RC car ownership, and this component makes that maintenance straightforward and affordable.
- How does shock maintenance affect my RC car's performance? — Worn or damaged bleeder gaskets allow shock fluid to slowly leak from the shock body. This reduces the effective damping force, causing the suspension to become unpredictable and less responsive. Maintaining proper seals ensures consistent suspension performance, better traction during acceleration and braking, and more predictable handling through corners. For competitive RC racing in the UK, this translates directly to faster lap times and more competitive performance.
