Overview
The Associated 12x36 V2 Shock Bodies (AS91483) are precision-engineered replacement damper bodies designed for RC enthusiasts who demand reliable, consistent suspension performance. Whether you're running a competitive 1/10 scale RC buggy, short course truck, or any compatible platform, these shock bodies represent the ideal solution for maintaining or refreshing your suspension setup. As a dedicated RC car UK retailer, we recognise that suspension is absolutely critical to on-track performance and durability, and these genuine Associated components are engineered to exacting standards to ensure your RC model performs at its best.
These replacement shock bodies are essential maintenance components for anyone serious about RC performance. Over time, shock bodies can wear, leak, or lose their ability to provide consistent damping characteristics. By replacing them with genuine Associated 12x36 V2 units, you restore smooth, predictable suspension behaviour that translates directly into better handling, improved traction, and enhanced durability on the track or at the bash spot. The 12x36 format has become a recognised standard in the RC hobby, trusted by competitors and weekend bashers alike across the UK and internationally.
If you're rebuilding your RC suspension after a season of racing, refreshing worn components for a new competition season, or simply want to ensure your shocks perform optimally, the Associated 12x36 V2 Shock Bodies deliver genuine quality and reliability. These are the same shock bodies used in factory-built Associated vehicles, so you can be confident you're installing components that meet the manufacturer's exacting standards.
Key Features
- 12x36 V2 Format Compatibility — This shock body size is the industry standard for many 1/10 scale RC models including the RC10T5M and various other competitive platforms, ensuring broad compatibility across multiple vehicle types and making replacement simple and straightforward.
- Genuine Associated Manufacturing — These shock bodies are manufactured by Team Associated, the legendary RC brand with over 40 years of heritage, guaranteeing authentic quality and precise engineering specifications that match your vehicle's original suspension design.
- Replacement and Maintenance Function — Designed specifically for rebuilding or refreshing your suspension components, these shock bodies restore smooth and consistent damping performance when your existing shocks have become worn, compromised, or require servicing as part of routine maintenance.
- Precision-Engineered Construction — Each shock body is manufactured to tight tolerances to ensure consistent performance, smooth piston movement, and reliable damping characteristics that are essential for competitive racing or high-performance bashing.
- Wear and Tear Solution — Over extended use, shock bodies can accumulate internal wear, develop micro-leaks, or lose their original damping profile; these replacement units restore your suspension to like-new condition without requiring a complete shock replacement.
- Easy Identification and Ordering — Supplied under the clear part number AS91483 with a barcode (784695914834), these shock bodies are simple to identify, order, and verify, eliminating confusion when sourcing replacement components for your RC vehicle.
Technical Performance
The Associated 12x36 V2 Shock Bodies represent the culmination of decades of suspension engineering expertise from Team Associated. The 12x36 format is a proven, established standard in the 1/10 scale RC racing community, providing the ideal balance of stroke length, internal volume, and dimensional compatibility across a broad range of vehicle platforms. These shock bodies feature precision-machined construction from durable materials engineered to withstand the demanding forces encountered during aggressive cornering, jumps, and high-speed running. The V2 designation indicates this is the second generation of this design, incorporating refinements and improvements based on extensive competitive feedback and real-world testing. When you rebuild your shocks with these genuine Associated bodies, you're restoring your suspension to deliver the smooth, progressive damping characteristics that Associated's engineering team designed into your vehicle. The internal geometry, piston port configuration, and bore tolerances are all optimised to work seamlessly with Associated-specification shock pistons, springs, and oils, ensuring that when fully assembled and properly tuned, your suspension will perform exactly as the manufacturer intended. Whether you're preparing for a regional championship, a local club race, or simply want your ready to run RC car to handle like new, these shock bodies are the correct choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles are compatible with the Associated 12x36 V2 Shock Bodies AS91483? — The primary application is the RC10T5M, though these shock bodies may be compatible with other 1/10 scale models using the 12x36 V2 format. We strongly recommend consulting your vehicle's manual to confirm sizing and fitment before installation. If you're unsure whether these will fit your specific RC car UK model, please contact our team on 01543 577278 and we'll help you identify the correct shock components for your platform.
- When should I replace my shock bodies? — Shock bodies should be replaced if you notice damping inconsistency between shocks, visible leaking of shock fluid, grinding or binding during compression or extension, or if you simply want to refresh your suspension after an extended season of use. Replacement is a routine maintenance task for competitive racers and is often performed at the start of each competition season.
- Do these shock bodies come with pistons and springs? — No, the AS91483 package includes only the shock bodies themselves. You will need to transfer your existing pistons, springs, and shock oil from your old shocks, or purchase these components separately if they require replacement. Associated offers a full range of shock internals and tuning components to complete your rebuild.
- Is installation suitable for beginners? — Shock body replacement requires basic mechanical skills, a small selection of tools, and familiarity with shock disassembly and reassembly. If you're new to RC maintenance, we recommend consulting your vehicle's manual or watching instructional videos before attempting the task. Our experienced team at RC Model Shop in Walsall can also offer guidance if you need support.
- What is the difference between the V2 and earlier versions? — The V2 designation indicates this is the second generation of the 12x36 shock body design, incorporating refinements based on competitive feedback and performance testing. If you're upgrading from older shocks, the V2 bodies offer improved damping consistency and are the current standard for modern Associated vehicles.
- How do I know these will fit my Associated RC car? — The 12x36 V2 format is the standard across many contemporary 1/10 scale Associated models, but the only way to be completely certain is to check your vehicle manual or contact us directly. We can verify compatibility for your specific model number when you get in touch.
