Overview

The Team Associated 1/8th Clutch Spring 1.0mm (AS89133) is an essential spare component for RC enthusiasts who demand reliable performance from their 1/8-scale off-road RC cars. Whether you're running a competitive buggy, truggy, or truck setup, maintaining your clutch system with genuine Team Associated parts is crucial to keeping your RC model performing at its best. This authentic AE spare part is designed specifically for 1/8-scale clutch assemblies that require a 1.0mm wire diameter spring, making it an ideal choice for routine maintenance, tuning adjustments, or quick repairs during race days or weekend bashing sessions.

For serious RC hobbyists in the UK who invest in quality Team Associated platforms, having the correct clutch spring specification on hand is essential. The clutch system is one of the most important components in your RC car's drivetrain, as it directly affects how power is transmitted from the engine to the wheels. Using the correct spring rate ensures that your clutch engages and disengages smoothly, preventing unnecessary wear on other components and maintaining consistent performance lap after lap. This 1.0mm spring is perfect for drivers who want to fine-tune their clutch response or who simply need to replace a worn component to restore their RC car to factory specifications.

As an authorised Team Associated retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM spare parts that meet the exacting standards set by the manufacturer. When you choose this clutch spring, you're choosing a part that's been engineered and tested by one of the most respected names in RC racing. Keep one in your pit box, your garage, or your spare parts drawer to ensure you're always ready to maintain your 1/8-scale RC car at peak performance.

Key Features

  • 1.0mm Wire Diameter — This precise wire diameter specification is critical for proper clutch engagement and spring rate characteristics. Using a spring with the exact wire diameter ensures your clutch system operates within its design parameters, preventing slippage or over-engagement that could damage your RC car's drivetrain components.
  • Genuine Team Associated Part — This is an authentic AE spare part manufactured to OEM specifications rather than an aftermarket alternative. Genuine parts ensure compatibility with your existing clutch assembly and maintain the reliability and performance standards that Team Associated is renowned for throughout the RC car UK community.
  • Part Number AS89133 — The explicit part number makes it easy to identify and order the correct component for your specific RC model. This traceability ensures you're purchasing the right spring for your setup, eliminating any confusion about compatibility with different clutch assemblies.
  • Designed for 1/8-Scale Clutch Assemblies — This spring is specifically engineered for 1/8-scale RC cars, including Team Associated SC8, RC8, RC8B, RC8T, RC8.2, RC8B3, RC8T3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2E and other compatible 1/8-scale models. The proportions and spring characteristics are optimised for the size and power requirements of 1/8-scale racing vehicles.
  • Ideal for Maintenance and Tuning — Whether you're replacing a worn spring during routine maintenance or experimenting with different spring rates to fine-tune your clutch response, this component gives you the flexibility to keep your RC car running precisely as you want it.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated 1/8th Clutch Spring 1.0mm represents precision engineering specifically tailored to the demanding requirements of 1/8-scale RC racing. The 1.0mm wire diameter has been chosen to provide the correct spring rate for proper clutch engagement characteristics in 1/8-scale assemblies. Spring rate is a critical performance parameter that determines how quickly and smoothly the clutch engages when you apply throttle, directly affecting acceleration, traction control, and overall driveability. A spring that's too weak may cause the clutch to slip excessively, wasting power and creating heat, whilst a spring that's too stiff may cause harsh engagement that puts unnecessary stress on gears, bearings, and the engine. This genuine AE component delivers the optimal balance for 1/8-scale competition and recreational driving. The manufacturing quality of Team Associated spare parts is recognised throughout the RC car UK hobby community as meeting exacting tolerances that ensure every spring performs consistently. The material composition and heat treatment of this spring ensure durability through countless engagement cycles, whether you're running a fuel-powered nitro engine or an electric motor in your 1/8-scale RC car.

What You Need to Complete

This is a replacement spare part and requires installation into an existing 1/8-scale Team Associated clutch assembly. You will need the appropriate tools to access your RC car's clutch system, such as hex keys, screwdrivers, or other tools specified in your model's manual, as well as familiarity with your specific RC car's clutch assembly configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Team Associated 1/8-scale RC models use this 1.0mm clutch spring? — This spring is compatible with a range of Team Associated 1/8-scale models including the SC8, RC8, RC8B, RC8T, RC8.2, RC8B3, RC8T3, RC8B3.1, and RC8B3.2E. Always check your specific model's documentation to confirm that a 1.0mm spring is the correct specification for your RC car, as different variations or build years may call for different spring rates.
  • Why should I use a genuine Team Associated spare part rather than an aftermarket clutch spring? — Genuine OEM parts are engineered and tested specifically for your RC car's clutch assembly, ensuring perfect compatibility and performance. Aftermarket springs may vary in wire diameter, material composition, or heat treatment, potentially leading to inconsistent engagement characteristics or premature wear. When you invest in a quality Team Associated RC car, protecting that investment with genuine spares makes sense.
  • How often should I replace my clutch spring? — The frequency of replacement depends on how intensively you use your RC car. Competition drivers who run multiple packs per day may need to inspect and potentially replace clutch springs more frequently than recreational bashers. Over time, springs lose their temper and become fatigued, resulting in changes to the spring rate. If you notice your clutch engaging differently than it did previously, or if you see visible damage to the spring, it's time to replace it.
  • What is the difference between different clutch spring wire diameters? — Different wire diameters (such as 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm) create different spring rates. A thicker wire diameter (like 1.2mm) creates a stiffer spring that's less prone to slipping but may engage more harshly, whilst a thinner wire diameter (like 0.8mm) creates a softer spring that engages more smoothly but may slip more. The 1.0mm diameter specified for your RC car is the manufacturer's recommendation for the optimal balance of engagement characteristics and durability for that platform.
  • Is this clutch spring suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a genuine spare part that's essential for RC car maintenance, replacing a clutch spring typically requires some mechanical knowledge and familiarity with your specific RC car's assembly. If you're new to RC car ownership and unsure about performing this maintenance yourself, the friendly team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance on installation or help you understand how clutch systems work in 1/8-scale RC cars.
