Technical Performance

The AS8504 D Drive Rings are precision-engineered components manufactured to Team Associated's exacting standards for on-road RC racing applications. These rings work within the drivetrain assembly to manage power transmission and rotational forces, directly affecting how your RC car responds to throttle input and how efficiently power is delivered from motor to wheels. Quality drive rings are essential for maintaining the snappy, predictable handling characteristics that Team Associated on-road buggies are famous for. The rings must be manufactured with tight tolerances and durable materials to withstand the repetitive stress cycles of competitive racing and high-speed driving. When drive rings wear, they introduce play into the drivetrain which manifests as a loss of responsiveness, increased backlash, and potential damage to surrounding components. The AS8504 specification has been developed specifically for the RC12R5.2, RC10R5.1, RC10R5, and RC12R5 platforms, ensuring perfect compatibility with these renowned on-road racing machines. Replacing worn rings during routine maintenance is a proactive approach to keeping your RC vehicle in competitive condition and preventing cascade failures in your drivetrain system.

Replacing worn rings prevents drivetrain damage, maintains responsive handling, and keeps your RC car UK racing setup competitive.
  • How do I know if my drive rings are worn and need replacement? — Signs of worn drive rings include excessive play or backlash in the drivetrain, a loss of snappy throttle response, unusual clicking or grinding noises when driving, and reduced overall handling precision. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult your vehicle's manual and consider drive ring replacement.

Consult your vehicle's service manual for detailed installation instructions specific to your model. If you're unsure about the process, our team at RC Model Shop are happy to provide guidance.
