Overview

The Team Associated Spring .020 AS8429 is a genuine replacement front suspension spring engineered for precision tuning on 1/10 scale on-road pan cars. This is the standard spring supplied with the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit (ASC8400), making it an essential component for any RC enthusiast looking to maintain or dial in their vehicle's handling characteristics. Whether you're a serious racer fine-tuning your RC car UK setup or a dedicated hobbyist maintaining your fleet, this replacement spring provides the neutral baseline performance that comes factory-standard with Team Associated's dynamic front end suspension system.

Designed specifically for Team Associated's range of 1/10 on-road vehicles, the .020-rate spring offers balanced steering response without favouring either excessive sensitivity or sluggish handling. This makes it the perfect starting point for suspension tuning, allowing you to either progress to softer springs for increased steering input or stiffer springs for more composed cornering. The AS8429 is part of a comprehensive spring lineup that caters to different driving styles and track conditions, giving you complete flexibility to optimise your vehicle's performance across various environments.

RC Model Shop stocks this authentic Team Associated component, ensuring you receive a genuine replacement part that meets the exact specifications your vehicle was engineered around. Whether you're replacing a worn spring or building up a spare suspension setup for your 1/10 on-road racing machine, this spring delivers the quality and consistency you expect from one of RC racing's most respected manufacturers.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated Component — This is the authentic OEM spring included standard with the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit, ensuring perfect compatibility and performance with your vehicle's suspension geometry and tuning envelope.
  • .020 Rate Specification — The .020-rate provides a neutral tuning baseline that allows balanced steering response, making this the ideal reference point for suspension development and the perfect choice when you need predictable, controlled handling characteristics on your 1/10 scale on-road RC car.
  • Direct Compatibility with Dynamic Front End Kit — Engineered to work seamlessly with the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit (ASC8400), this spring integrates perfectly with the complete front suspension system without requiring any modifications or adaptations.
  • Part of a Complete Spring Range — Available alongside softer .018-rate and stiffer .022 and .024-rate options, allowing you to progress your suspension tuning systematically as you develop your driving technique or adapt to different track surfaces.
  • Essential Maintenance and Tuning Component — Springs wear over time and lose their original rate characteristics with heavy use, making regular replacement crucial for maintaining consistent handling and preventing suspension geometry changes that affect cornering speed and steering precision.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Spring .020 AS8429 represents precision engineering designed for the demanding world of 1/10 scale on-road racing and high-performance RC car UK applications. The .020-rate specification is measured in the imperial system commonly used across RC racing, indicating the spring's stiffness relative to compression distance. This moderate rate provides excellent all-around performance characteristics, delivering responsive steering input without introducing nervous or twitchy handling that can make a vehicle difficult to control at speed. The spring is manufactured to the exacting tolerances Team Associated applies across their competition-grade components, ensuring consistency between production runs so that replacement springs perform identically to the originals, maintaining your vehicle's handling balance and predictability. The engineering behind this spring considers the complete suspension geometry of the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit, working in harmony with other suspension components to create a cohesive system that delivers both on-track performance and durability through repeated use. Whether you're using this spring with the RC10L3T, RC10R50, RC10R5.1, RC10R5, or RC12R5, you can be confident that it will deliver the performance characteristics these vehicles were engineered to achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the .020 spring and other available options like the .018 and .024 rates? — The .020 rate is the standard spring supplied with the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit and provides neutral, balanced steering response. The softer .018-rate (ASC8427) increases steering sensitivity for drivers who prefer more responsive turn-in and feel, whilst the stiffer .022-rate (ASC8431) and .024-rate (ASC8433) provide progressively harder suspension for drivers who want more composed, less twitchy handling or are racing on very smooth, high-grip surfaces where less spring rate actually reduces steering feel.
  • Which vehicles is the Team Associated Spring .020 compatible with? — This spring is designed for use with Team Associated 1/10 on-road vehicles including the RC10L3T, RC10R50, RC10R5.1, RC10R5, and RC12R5, particularly when these models are equipped with the 1/10 Dynamic Front End Kit (ASC8400). It is specifically the standard front suspension spring for these applications.
  • How often should I replace my suspension springs? — Springs lose their rate characteristics gradually with use as the material fatigues under repeated compression cycles. Most racers replace springs every season or after heavy use to maintain consistent suspension tuning, as even a small change in spring rate significantly affects handling balance and steering response on precision-tuned on-road vehicles.
  • Is this spring suitable for beginners? — Yes, the .020 rate is an excellent choice for all skill levels because it provides neutral, predictable handling without extreme characteristics that can be difficult to manage. Beginners benefit from the balanced feedback, whilst experienced racers appreciate it as a proven baseline for systematic suspension development.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on the front suspension? — No, maintaining matched spring rates ensures balanced steering geometry and prevents uneven weight transfer during cornering. Always use springs of the same rate specification across the front suspension for consistent, predictable handling.
