Overview

The Team Associated RC8B4 Factory Team RWB Chassis (AS81589) represents the pinnacle of competitive 1/10 scale nitro buggy engineering, developed specifically for serious racers who demand the highest performance standards. This premium race chassis began development ahead of the 2022 IFMAR World Championships and has already proven its credentials at the highest levels of competition, delivering race-winning results with Spencer Rivkin at the 2023 TNR Challenge and Brent Thielke at the 2023 Dirt Nitro Challenge, alongside A-Main performances from other factory team drivers. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to step up to factory-level equipment or an experienced enthusiast seeking to build the ultimate 1/10 nitro buggy in the UK RC car market, this chassis delivers uncompromising performance and precision engineering.

The RWB (Rear Weight Bias) configuration fundamentally changes how this chassis performs on the track, strategically shifting critical components rearward to enhance grip, stability, and predictability. This is not simply a standard RC8B4 platform—it's a competition-proven evolution engineered by Team Associated's factory team specifically to address the demands of modern racing conditions. Every detail has been refined through real-world testing and competitive validation, making this one of the most sought-after competition chassis platforms available for UK RC enthusiasts and professional racers alike.

Built from premium materials and featuring meticulous CNC machining, the RC8B4 FT RWB Chassis delivers the precision fit and durability required for season-long competitive racing. This is a chassis for buyers who understand that quality engineering translates directly into on-track performance, reliability, and the consistency needed to compete at the highest levels.

Key Features

  • Rear Weight Bias (RWB) Configuration — The engine, fuel tank, centre differential, and radio tray have all been shifted rearward by 10mm compared to standard configurations, fundamentally altering the weight distribution of your buggy to increase rear grip in low traction conditions, which is critical for maintaining speed through loose and unprepared sections of track.
  • Enhanced Rear Grip Performance — By distributing more weight to the rear wheels through the RWB design, this chassis significantly increases rear tyre grip, allowing for more aggressive acceleration and better traction control in conditions where front-end grip is compromised, a key advantage in competitive racing scenarios.
  • Improved Predictability on Rough Surfaces — The RWB layout delivers enhanced stability and predictability when racing on rough and inconsistent track conditions, allowing drivers to push harder with greater confidence knowing the chassis will respond consistently to their inputs.
  • Increased Rear Chassis Stiffness — The geometric changes and component positioning in the RWB design inherently increase the structural rigidity of the rear chassis section, reducing flex and improving energy transfer to the wheels during acceleration and cornering.
  • Premium CNC Machined Aluminium Construction — The chassis is manufactured from durable 3mm 7075 aluminium alloy, a material specifically chosen for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, offering the rigidity needed for competition racing without adding unnecessary mass to your buggy.
  • Hard Anodized Finish with Laser Etching — Every component features a hard anodized finish that provides superior corrosion resistance and durability, whilst precision laser etching ensures component identification and adds a professional appearance worthy of factory team equipment.
  • Factory Team Pedigree — This chassis carries genuine Team Associated Factory Team credentials, developed and validated by the same team responsible for creating the race-winning RC8B4 platform that has delivered victories at the highest levels of international nitro buggy competition.
  • Installation Supplement Included — Detailed installation documentation is provided with every chassis, ensuring correct assembly and allowing builders to understand the specific geometry and component positioning that makes the RWB configuration unique.

Technical Performance

The RC8B4 FT RWB Chassis represents the absolute pinnacle of 1/10 scale nitro buggy platform engineering, built to exacting tolerances using premium materials and manufacturing techniques. The 3mm 7075 aluminium construction provides exceptional rigidity whilst maintaining strict weight control—critical considerations for competitive racing where thousandths of a second separate champions from challengers. The hard anodized finish doesn't simply protect against corrosion; it ensures consistent performance throughout a season of intensive racing and maintenance. The RWB configuration's 10mm rearward shift of major components (engine, fuel tank, centre differential, and radio tray) fundamentally transforms the chassis dynamics, increasing rear grip in low traction conditions whilst improving overall stability through rough and variable track surfaces. This geometry has been proven at the highest levels of competition, making it the platform of choice for drivers who refuse to compromise on performance. The chassis delivers the precision, durability, and competitive advantage required for successful racing campaigns at club level through international competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does RWB (Rear Weight Bias) mean and why should I care about it? — RWB stands for Rear Weight Bias, a design philosophy that shifts the major components of your buggy (engine, fuel tank, centre differential, and radio tray) rearward by 10mm compared to standard configurations. This creates a more rearward weight distribution that increases grip on the rear tyres, improves traction in low grip conditions, and makes the chassis more predictable on rough and variable track surfaces. If you're serious about competitive racing and want every possible advantage in handling and performance, RWB is a significant upgrade over standard platforms.
  • Is this suitable for beginners or only experienced racers? — The RC8B4 FT RWB Chassis is engineered for experienced racers and serious competitors who understand nitro buggy racing and have the skills to maximise this platform's potential. This is not an entry-level product; it requires knowledge of nitro engine tuning, transmission setup, suspension geometry, and race-craft to extract its full performance. Beginners should consider starting with a more basic platform and progressing to factory team equipment as their skills develop.
  • What makes the RC8B4 FT RWB different from other 1/10 nitro buggy chassis platforms? — The RC8B4 FT RWB combines Team Associated's decades of engineering expertise with proven race-winning geometry developed specifically for modern competitive racing. The RWB configuration is the key differentiator, offering enhanced rear grip and stability that competitors using standard platforms cannot match. Additionally, the factory team pedigree means this chassis has been validated at the highest levels of international racing, with actual competition wins from factory drivers proving its effectiveness. The premium materials, precision manufacturing, and detailed engineering make it a platform specifically for buyers who refuse to compromise on performance and quality.
  • Will I need the optional components like the RWB radio tray brace? — Yes, you will need either the AS81592 RWB radio tray brace or AS81433 servo spacers to complete your chassis. These components are not included in the base chassis kit because builders may choose different radio mounting configurations based on their specific setup preferences. The RWB radio tray brace is the factory team option and is recommended for maintaining the exact geometric configuration that delivers the RWB performance benefits.
  • Is this a ready-to-run product or a kit that requires building? — The RC8B4 FT RWB is a chassis platform only, not a ready-to-run buggy. It requires sourcing and installing a motor, fuel tank, engine, transmission, suspension components, wheels, tyres, radio system, and body shell. This is designed for experienced builders who already have the knowledge, tools, and additional components needed to complete a fully functional nitro buggy.
  • What is the quality of the aluminium construction? — Every component is CNC machined from 3mm 7075 aluminium alloy, one of the highest-grade aluminium materials available for precision engineering. The 7075 alloy is chosen specifically for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, allowing the chassis to be extremely rigid and durable whilst remaining lightweight—essential for competitive racing performance. The hard anodized finish provides superior corrosion resistance and durability throughout a season of intensive use.
