Overview
The Associated RC8T3.2 FT Front Lower Suspension Arm Inserts represent a premium upgrade for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand the highest performance from their competition vehicles. These precision-engineered carbon fibre components are designed specifically to enhance the suspension performance of the Associated RC8T3.2 and RC8T3.2e racing buggies, offering a measurable upgrade over the standard plastic inserts that come as factory equipment. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to fine-tune your RC buggy setup or a dedicated hobbyist seeking to elevate your vehicle's handling characteristics, these suspension arm inserts deliver the stiffness and responsiveness that serious RC car enthusiasts expect from Factory Team upgrades.
Racing in the UK RC community demands precision engineering and continuous refinement of your setup. The stock plastic inserts found in the standard RC8T3.2 suspension arms can flex under load, affecting steering response and overall handling consistency during competitive runs. By upgrading to these carbon fibre inserts, you gain a significant advantage in suspension rigidity without adding unnecessary weight or complexity to your setup. The clean Factory Team aesthetic also ensures your RC buggy looks as professional as it performs on the track or during weekend bashing sessions.
These suspension arm inserts are manufactured to the exacting standards Associated Electrics is renowned for, combining carbon fibre's superior strength-to-weight ratio with meticulous engineering to produce a component that will transform how your RC8T3.2 responds to steering input and maintains composure through technical track sections. This is a genuine performance upgrade, not merely a cosmetic modification, making it an essential component for any serious RC buggy competitor.
Key Features
- 1.2mm Carbon Fibre Construction — These inserts are manufactured from premium 1.2mm thick carbon fibre material, which offers significantly greater stiffness compared to the standard plastic components whilst maintaining an exceptionally lightweight profile, resulting in improved suspension response and more consistent handling across varying track conditions and driving styles.
- Direct Replacement Design — These inserts function as a direct replacement for the stock plastic inserts supplied with the RC8T3.2 and RC8T3.2e, meaning installation requires no modifications to your existing suspension arms or other vehicle components, allowing you to upgrade quickly and efficiently without extensive disassembly.
- Improved Suspension Stiffness — The carbon fibre construction significantly increases the rigidity of your front lower suspension arms, reducing flex during cornering and acceleration, which translates to more predictable handling characteristics and improved steering precision throughout your RC racing experience.
- Factory Team Appearance — These components feature the clean, professional Factory Team aesthetic that distinguishes competition-grade equipment, giving your RC buggy the look of a serious racing vehicle and complementing the factory team-specification suspension arms.
- Precision Engineering — Manufactured to the rigorous standards Associated Electrics applies across its Factory Team product range, these inserts are engineered to tolerance specifications that ensure perfect fitment and consistent performance across multiple installations.
Technical Performance
The carbon fibre material used in these front lower suspension arm inserts represents a significant engineering advancement over traditional plastic alternatives. Carbon fibre offers superior stiffness properties, which means the suspension arms themselves will deflect less under the lateral forces experienced during cornering and acceleration in competitive RC buggy racing. The 1.2mm thickness represents the optimal balance between weight reduction and structural rigidity—thick enough to provide meaningful stiffness improvements whilst remaining thin enough to avoid adding unnecessary mass to your RC8T3.2's unsprung weight. This attention to material engineering is what separates factory team components from budget alternatives. The improved stiffness directly enhances your vehicle's handling response, providing more immediate feedback through the steering and more consistent performance across consecutive runs. For serious RC car racers in the UK operating at competitive levels, the ability to reduce suspension deflection translates to faster lap times and more predictable vehicle behaviour through technical sections of the track. These inserts work in conjunction with the RC8T3.2's suspension geometry and damping characteristics to create a platform capable of delivering genuine performance benefits when paired with the compatible M3 hardware recommendations.
What's in the Box
- Pair of 1.2mm carbon fibre front lower suspension arm inserts
What You Need to Complete
- M3x6mm BHCS (button head cap screws) AS31531 — recommended for the two inner hinge pin locations when installing these carbon fibre inserts
- M3x6mm FHCS (flat head cap screws) AS31541 — required for the remaining fastener locations when upgrading to these carbon fibre inserts
- RC8T3.2 or RC8T3.2e suspension arms (AS81472, AS81476, or AS81480)
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these carbon fibre inserts work with my RC8T3.2 buggy? — Yes, these inserts are specifically designed as direct replacements for the front lower suspension arms on the RC8T3.2 and RC8T3.2e models. They are compatible with suspension arms AS81472, AS81476, and AS81480, and will also fit the RC8T4 and RC8T4e variants, making them suitable for owners of multiple Associated racing platforms.
- What hardware do I need to install these carbon fibre inserts? — When switching to these carbon fibre inserts, Associated recommends using shorter M3x6mm BHCS (AS31531) for the two inner hinge pin locations, as the carbon fibre material has different compression characteristics than the original plastic. For the remaining fastener positions, use M3x6mm FHCS (AS31541). Using the correct hardware ensures optimal performance and prevents over-compression of the carbon fibre material.
- How much performance improvement will I see from upgrading to carbon fibre inserts? — The primary benefit is increased suspension arm stiffness, which reduces flex during cornering and acceleration, resulting in more immediate steering response and more consistent handling characteristics throughout your racing sessions. Competitive drivers typically notice improved lap time consistency and more predictable vehicle behaviour, particularly in technical track sections.
- Are these inserts suitable for both racing and bashing? — Absolutely. Whilst these components are manufactured to Factory Team specifications for competition use, they're equally beneficial for casual bashing and weekend fun. Any RC8T3.2 owner seeking improved suspension performance will benefit from the enhanced stiffness and durability carbon fibre offers.
- Do these carbon fibre inserts require any special maintenance? — Carbon fibre is remarkably durable and requires no special maintenance beyond standard RC vehicle upkeep. Simply clean them as part of your regular post-run cleaning routine and inspect for any visible damage before each session.
- Will upgrading to these inserts affect my vehicle's geometry or settings? — No. These are direct replacements that don't alter suspension geometry, camber angles, or any setup parameters. Your existing suspension settings and tuning remain valid, allowing you to implement this upgrade without recalibrating your vehicle.
