Key Features

  • Machined Brass Construction — The 30g weight is precision machined from solid brass, a material chosen specifically for its excellent weight-to-volume ratio and durability, ensuring your chassis weight maintains its dimensions and performance characteristics through countless race meetings and practice sessions.
  • 30g Factory Team Weight Option — This represents the heavier option in Associated's chassis weight system, allowing you to make substantial adjustments to your buggy's centre of gravity and weight distribution for maximum tuning flexibility across varying track conditions.
  • Adjust Front and Rear Weight Bias — By combining this 30g weight with the optional 15g variant, you can achieve precise front-to-rear weight bias adjustment, a critical tuning parameter that directly affects cornering speed, stability through transitions, and overall handling characteristics.
  • Available in 15g and 30g Options — Associated provides two weight options to suit different tuning requirements and driver preferences, allowing you to select the configuration that delivers the exact weight balance needed for your specific track setup.
  • Direct Fit Design — Engineered to fit the RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.1e buggies directly without modification, this component slots seamlessly into your existing buggy without requiring additional fabrication or adjustment work.
  • Compatibility Across Multiple Associated Models — This weight is not limited to just the B3.1 platform; it also fits the RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.2, RC8T3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e variants, making it a versatile upgrade for numerous Associated competition vehicles.
  • Installation with Standard Hardware — The weight secures using two 3x8mm flat-head cap screws (FHCS), with Associated's part number #25201 providing a convenient pack of 10 screws for this application and future chassis weight installations.

Technical Performance

The Associated RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 FT Chassis Weight 30g represents precision engineering at the Factory Team level. Machined from solid brass rather than cast or stamped materials, this component offers consistency and reliability expected in competition racing. The 30g weight provides substantial mass for adjusting your buggy's weight bias, crucial when dialling in the perfect balance for specific track layouts and racing conditions. By adjusting where this weight is positioned relative to the wheelbase, drivers can shift the balance point forward or backward, directly influencing how the buggy's chassis responds to acceleration, braking, and cornering forces. This level of tuning capability is why Factory Team components are chosen by competitors who demand championship-level performance from their RC buggies. The machined brass construction ensures dimensional accuracy and durability; the weight won't degrade or change shape under the vibrations and impacts of competitive racing. Installation is straightforward with the included hardware mounting points, allowing you to make tuning adjustments between heats without requiring special tools or expertise. This is the kind of component that separates competitive builders from casual enthusiasts, delivering the precision and quality expected from genuine Associated Factory Team parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will this chassis weight fit my Associated RC8B3.1 buggy? — Yes, this 30g Factory Team chassis weight is specifically engineered for direct fit on the RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.1e platforms. It also fits the RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.2, RC8T3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e variants, making it compatible with numerous Associated competition buggies across the UK and beyond.
  • What is the difference between the 15g and 30g chassis weights? — Associated offers both 15g and 30g options to provide different levels of weight adjustment. The 15g option allows subtle tuning adjustments for fine-tuning weight bias, whilst the 30g option provides more substantial mass adjustment for situations requiring greater weight shift or when you need more overall ballast. Many competitive drivers use both weights in combination to achieve their ideal setup.
  • Why is this weight made from brass rather than aluminium? — Brass is chosen specifically for chassis weights because it offers superior density and weight-to-volume ratio compared to aluminium. This means a 30g brass weight occupies less space on your chassis, allowing for optimal centre of gravity positioning without taking up excessive room, which is critical on compact competition buggy platforms.
  • How does adjusting weight bias improve my buggy's handling? — Weight distribution directly affects how your buggy responds to throttle, braking and cornering. Moving weight forward improves stability and traction on bumpy sections but can make the rear feel loose, whilst moving weight rearward sharpens turn-in and corner speed but can reduce initial traction. By adjusting with this 30g weight, you can dial in the perfect balance for your specific track layout and driving style.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst beginners can certainly use this component, it is primarily designed for competitive racers and experienced builders who understand weight bias tuning. Beginners may find the 15g option more suitable for initial experimentation, though having both options available allows you to grow into more advanced setup techniques as your racing experience develops.
  • What screws do I need to install this weight? — You will need two 3x8mm flat-head cap screws (FHCS). Associated's part number #25201 provides a convenient pack of 10 screws, ensuring you have plenty for this installation and future upgrades. Most RC enthusiasts keep these screws on hand as standard hardware for Associated platform modifications.
