As a UK RC car enthusiast, you understand that maintaining your model with genuine Associated parts ensures the longevity and performance of your investment. These shouldered balls are engineered to seat perfectly in rod ends, providing the smooth, free movement required for consistent alignment across all steering and suspension links. For anyone serious about competitive racing or weekend bashing with their RC buggy, using original manufacturer parts like these is non-negotiable for maintaining the intended fit and function your model was designed for.

Team Associated has been crafting high-quality RC components for decades, and their commitment to precision engineering is evident in every spare part they produce. The RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 are renowned platforms in the RC racing community, and keeping them in peak condition requires genuine parts from the manufacturer. If you've been bashing your RC car hard or you've noticed your linkage movement becoming sluggish or inconsistent, replacing worn turnbuckle balls is often the perfect solution to restore that factory-fresh feel to your suspension and steering response.

Whether you're a seasoned RC racing competitor looking to maintain your competition-grade buggy or a dedicated hobbyist who invests in quality equipment, the Associated RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 Turnbuckle Balls Shouldered offer the reliability and authenticity you expect from genuine factory components. Stocking these spares means you're always ready to perform maintenance when needed, without delays waiting for parts to arrive from overseas suppliers.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated Spare Part — These are authentic factory parts manufactured by Team Associated, not aftermarket replacements, ensuring they meet the exact specifications and tolerances required for your RC8B3.1 or RC8B3.2 buggy to perform at its best.
  • Shouldered Design — The shouldered configuration allows the balls to seat perfectly in rod ends, providing proper support and preventing unwanted movement that could compromise your suspension geometry and steering precision.
  • Smooth Rod-End Movement — By replacing worn or damaged turnbuckle balls, you restore the smooth, free-flowing motion of your linkage assemblies, which is essential for consistent handling and responsive steering feedback during competitive racing or casual driving.
  • Consistent Alignment Support — These components work across your steering and suspension links to maintain proper alignment, which is critical for predictable handling characteristics and even tyre wear across both front and rear ends of your RC buggy.
  • Direct Maintenance Replacement — AS81398 is the correct part number for refreshing linkage assemblies on your RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2 and related models, making it simple to find exactly what you need without confusion or compatibility issues.
  • Compatible with Multiple Models — These shouldered turnbuckle balls fit the RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1e, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.1, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.2 and RC8T3.2e, giving you versatility across Team Associated's 1/10 scale competition buggy range.

Technical Performance

The Associated RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 Turnbuckle Balls Shouldered represent precision engineering at its finest. These shouldered balls are manufactured to exact tolerances that allow them to integrate seamlessly with the rod end assemblies on your RC buggy's steering and suspension linkages. The shouldered design is critical to performance — it prevents the balls from slipping or rotating improperly within the rod end cups, which would introduce slop and inconsistency into your handling. Over time, as your RC car is driven hard on tracks or bashy terrain, these balls experience wear from constant articulation of the suspension and steering systems. By replacing them with genuine Associated parts, you're restoring your buggy to factory specifications. The material composition and heat treatment applied during manufacturing ensures these parts resist wear and maintain their smooth operation through countless hours of driving. For competitive racers running their RC8B3.1 or RC8B3.2 on tight competition tracks, maintaining pristine turnbuckle balls is just as important as fresh tyres or a tuned motor — it's fundamental to achieving consistent lap times and predictable handling. Even casual bashers benefit from maintaining these components, as fresh turnbuckle balls translate directly into more responsive steering input and smoother suspension articulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these turnbuckle balls compatible with my RC8B3.2 buggy? — Yes, the AS81398 Turnbuckle Balls Shouldered are designed specifically for use with RC8B3.2 models as well as RC8B3.1 and earlier RC8B3 versions. They also fit the brushless e-versions and T-series variants, making them a versatile spare part for Team Associated enthusiasts.
  • How do I know when my turnbuckle balls need replacing? — If you notice your steering response becoming sluggish or less precise, or if you see visible wear or flat spots on the balls themselves, it's time to replace them. Additionally, if you perform a regular maintenance routine, replacing these balls every season or after heavy use is a sensible preventative measure.
  • Do I need to replace all the turnbuckle balls at once? — It's best practice to replace all worn balls together to ensure consistent handling across all linkages. Your kit manual will specify exactly how many balls your model requires and where they should be positioned.
  • Why should I buy genuine Associated parts instead of aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine Associated parts are manufactured to exact factory specifications and tolerances, ensuring perfect fit and function. Aftermarket alternatives may have slightly different dimensions or material properties that can introduce handling inconsistencies. For competitive RC racing, using genuine parts is essential for maintaining the performance characteristics your buggy was engineered for.
  • What tools do I need to replace the turnbuckle balls on my RC8B3.1? — Consult your kit manual for specific installation instructions and tool requirements. Generally, you'll need basic hex wrenches and screwdrivers, but your manual will provide exact guidance for your particular model and configuration.
  • Are turnbuckle balls a wear item that needs regular replacement? — Yes, like many RC components, turnbuckle balls experience wear from constant use. High-intensity racing or aggressive bashing will wear them faster than casual driving. Many competitive racers replace these as part of their regular maintenance schedule to ensure optimal handling consistency.
