Technical Performance
The Associated RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 Flywheel Collets are precision-manufactured components that represent decades of Team Associated's engineering expertise in off-road RC racing. These collets are machined to exacting tolerances to ensure they interface perfectly with both your engine's crankshaft and your flywheel assembly. The 4-shoe design is specifically engineered for the clutch systems found in the RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 platforms, which are known for their aggressive racing performance and demanding clutch engagement characteristics. By maintaining proper alignment between your crankshaft and flywheel, these collets help ensure that power is transmitted smoothly and consistently from your engine to your drivetrain. The engineering quality built into these components means they'll withstand the high-speed engagement cycles and load forces that come with competitive RC racing or intense bashing sessions. Whether you're running a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine in your Associated buggy, proper collet condition is essential for preventing clutch wear and maintaining the responsive throttle control that separates competitive vehicles from struggling ones. These are genuine Associated OEM parts, not third-party reproductions, which means you can trust their durability and compatibility with your specific RC platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these flywheel collets compatible with my RC8B3.1 or RC8B3.2 buggy? — Yes, these collets are specifically designed for Team Associated RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 platforms with 4-shoe clutch systems. They are the official genuine parts manufactured by Team Associated and will fit your vehicle perfectly.
- When should I replace my flywheel collets? — You should inspect and replace your collets during regular clutch maintenance and rebuilds. Signs of wear include inconsistent clutch engagement, clutch slip, or difficulty getting your engine to remain engaged at idle. Additionally, if you've recently crashed your vehicle and damaged the clutch area, replacing collets is a wise precaution as part of your rebuild.
- What is the difference between 2-shoe and 4-shoe clutch collets? — The number of shoes refers to the friction pads in your clutch assembly. A 4-shoe clutch uses four individual engagement points and requires collets specifically designed for that configuration. Using the wrong collet type will result in poor clutch engagement and potential damage to your flywheel and crankshaft.
- Can I use third-party collets instead of genuine Associated parts? — Whilst aftermarket alternatives may be available, genuine Team Associated OEM parts like the AS81371 are engineered to exact tolerances and specifications. Using genuine parts ensures perfect fit, reliable operation, and compatibility with your vehicle's clutch system. This is especially important in racing applications where consistency and reliability are paramount.
- How difficult is it to replace flywheel collets? — Collet replacement is a straightforward maintenance task that most RC enthusiasts can perform with basic tools. You'll need to disassemble your clutch system to access the collets, but the actual replacement is relatively simple once you have the flywheel removed from your engine.
- How many collets come in a package? — This product includes a set of collets for your 4-shoe flywheel assembly. Consult your Associated RC8B3.1 or RC8B3.2 manual for the exact quantity needed for your clutch configuration.
