Key Features
- 4.4 lb/in Spring Rate — This medium spring stiffness provides a balanced suspension setup that works well in a variety of track conditions, offering enough compliance for bump absorption whilst maintaining good responsiveness for cornering and acceleration.
- V2 Design — Associated's V2 spring specification represents a refined engineering standard within their suspension range, providing consistent performance and reliability across multiple applications and track types.
- Yellow Colour Coding — The distinctive yellow colour allows you to instantly identify the spring rate during setup changes and maintenance, reducing the risk of mixing spring rates and ensuring your suspension geometry remains consistent.
- Rear Position Compatibility — Specifically engineered for rear suspension mounting, these springs work in conjunction with your vehicle's shock absorbers to manage weight transfer, traction and stability during cornering, braking and acceleration.
- RC8B3 Series Compatibility — Designed to work seamlessly with the RC8B3, RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 buggies, ensuring perfect fitment and performance optimisation for these popular 1/10-scale platforms.
- Easy Setup Tuning — By selecting the appropriate spring rate, you can adjust your buggy's balance, rear traction and overall stability without requiring complex chassis modifications or professional tuning assistance.
Technical Performance
The Associated V2 Rear Springs represent precision-engineered suspension components manufactured to exacting standards. The 4.4 lb/in spring rate has been carefully selected to provide optimal performance across a wide range of track conditions, from high-grip tarmac surfaces to lower-grip dirt and clay layouts. In suspension engineering terms, spring rate (measured in pounds per inch) determines how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 4.4 lb/in rating sits in the medium range, making it versatile for drivers who want a setup that doesn't feel too stiff or too soft. These springs work in tandem with your vehicle's dampers and shock absorbers to manage the chassis attitude during cornering, absorb impacts from track irregularities and maintain consistent contact between the tyres and the track surface. The V2 specification ensures that these springs maintain their performance characteristics through extended use, with consistent compression rates that won't degrade prematurely. The yellow powder-coated finish not only aids visual identification but also provides a degree of corrosion resistance, particularly important for outdoor RC racing in the UK climate. For RC8B3-series buggy owners, installing the correct rear spring rate is one of the most impactful tuning adjustments you can make, often providing more noticeable handling improvements than other suspension tweaks.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What spring rate should I choose for my RC buggy? — Spring rate selection depends on your track conditions, driving style and vehicle weight. The 4.4 lb/in rating offers a balanced setup suitable for most drivers and track types. If your vehicle feels too bouncy or wallows excessively during cornering, a stiffer spring (higher lb/in rating) may help. If the ride feels too harsh and the buggy struggles with bump absorption, a softer spring (lower lb/in rating) could improve performance. We recommend starting with the manufacturer's recommended spring rate and adjusting from there based on how your vehicle feels on your local track.
- Are these springs compatible with my RC8B3? — Yes, these Associated V2 Rear Springs are specifically engineered for the RC8B3, RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 buggy platforms. They will fit directly without any modification required. However, always verify that you're replacing the rear springs only, as the RC8B3 series uses different spring rates front and rear.
- What is the difference between V1 and V2 springs? — The V2 specification represents an updated version of Associated's spring design, incorporating refinements based on extended testing and feedback from competition drivers. The V2 range typically features improved consistency, better durability and more refined performance characteristics compared to the V1 specification. If you're upgrading from V1 to V2, you may notice slightly different handling characteristics even with the same lb/in rating.
- How often should I replace my rear springs? — With normal use, RC springs can last for many months or even longer. However, springs can lose their performance characteristics over time, particularly if exposed to extreme temperatures or used in very harsh conditions. If you notice your buggy's handling has changed or the ride feels wallowier than it used to, it may be time to replace your springs. Competitive drivers often replace springs regularly to maintain consistent performance.
- Can I use these springs on other RC buggy models? — These springs are specifically designed for the RC8B3 series buggies. Using them on other models may result in incorrect suspension geometry, poor handling and potential fitment issues. Always check your vehicle's manual or contact us at RC Model Shop to ensure component compatibility before purchasing.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Spring selection is one of the most accessible suspension tuning adjustments you can make, and it doesn't require special tools or mechanical expertise. If you can remove and install shocks, you can change springs. The 4.4 lb/in rating is well-suited for learning drivers as it provides a balanced feel that works across various track conditions.
