Overview

The Associated RC8B3/RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 FT Rear Anti-Roll Bar (AS81141) is a genuine Factory Team component designed specifically for the RC8B3 series platform. This 2.8–3.0mm rear anti-roll bar represents the thicker specification option, making it ideal for high-traction track conditions. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy or an enthusiast looking to optimise your vehicle's handling characteristics, this authentic Associated spare part delivers manufacturer-specification performance. The FT designation confirms this is a Factory Team-approved component, recognised by serious RC racers across the UK and beyond.

Anti-roll bars, also known as sway bars or anti-sway bars, are fundamental suspension tuning elements that control the amount of body roll your RC car experiences during cornering. By adjusting the thickness of your anti-roll bar, you directly influence your buggy's roll centre and overall handling balance. This makes the AS81141 an essential upgrade and tuning tool for anyone serious about getting the best performance from their RC8B3-series vehicle. Whether you're preparing for competition or simply want to experiment with different setups for various track conditions, having multiple anti-roll bar options in your toolkit is standard practice among RC car enthusiasts in the UK.

Associated Electrics has engineered this component to work seamlessly with the RC8B3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2, and compatible models in the RC8T3 series. The precision manufacturing ensures consistent performance lap after lap, giving you confidence that your handling adjustments are genuine and repeatable.

Key Features

  • Factory Team Specification — This is an official FT-designated part from Associated, meaning it meets the exact standards used by factory racing teams and competition drivers, ensuring you're using proven, competition-grade components.
  • 2.8–3.0mm Thickness Rating — This thicker specification is engineered for high-traction track conditions, providing increased roll stiffness to reduce body roll during aggressive cornering and maintain better chassis stability on grippy surfaces.
  • Precision Tuning Option — By choosing the 2.8–3.0mm thickness over thinner alternatives like 2.2–2.4mm bars, you're actively tuning your suspension geometry to suit specific track characteristics, a fundamental technique in competitive RC racing.
  • Compatible with Multiple Models — This rear anti-roll bar fits the RC8B3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2, and corresponding RC8T3-series vehicles, providing broad platform compatibility within the Associated family of buggies and truggy platforms.
  • Genuine Associated Component — As an official Associated spare part, you can be confident in the material quality, manufacturing tolerances, and long-term durability compared to generic alternatives.
  • Essential Suspension Tuning Tool — Anti-roll bars are one of the most effective and easiest suspension adjustments to experiment with, allowing you to fine-tune understeer and oversteer characteristics without major mechanical changes.

Technical Performance

The AS81141 rear anti-roll bar operates on a fundamental principle of suspension engineering: controlling how much your RC buggy's chassis rolls during cornering. The 2.8–3.0mm diameter specification sits at the thicker end of the tuning spectrum. Thicker bars increase torsional stiffness, meaning the bar resists twisting more vigorously when your car leans into corners. This directly lowers the roll centre on the rear axle, which can be used strategically as a tuning variable for different track conditions. According to Associated's engineering guidance, thicker bars like the AS81141 are specifically recommended for high-traction tracks where maximum grip is available. This contrasts with thinner options (2.2–2.4mm) that are better suited for low-bite or medium-bite track surfaces. The precision engineering ensures the bar maintains its geometry under the extreme forces encountered during competitive racing, whether you're running on tarmac, dirt, or clay. Materials and construction follow Associated's proven manufacturing standards, with the component designed to integrate seamlessly into the RC8B3-series suspension geometry without requiring modification or additional hardware beyond standard installation. UK RC racers routinely use anti-roll bar adjustments as their first line of suspension tuning, making this component an absolutely essential part of any serious racer's spare parts collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between this 2.8–3.0mm anti-roll bar and the thinner 2.2–2.4mm option? — The AS81141 features a thicker diameter (2.8–3.0mm) compared to the thinner alternative (2.2–2.4mm). Thicker bars are stiffer and recommended for high-traction tracks where maximum grip is available, while thinner bars are better for low-bite or medium-bite surfaces. The choice between them is a tuning decision based on track conditions, and many serious racers keep both options in their pit box.
  • Which RC8B3 models is this anti-roll bar compatible with? — This rear anti-roll bar is compatible with the RC8B3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2, and the RC8T3-series vehicles (RC8T3, RC8T3.1, RC8T3.2), as well as the RC8B4-series models. Always verify your specific model number before ordering to ensure compatibility.
  • How do I install this anti-roll bar on my RC buggy? — While specific installation instructions are not detailed in the source materials, as a standard suspension component, installation typically involves removing the old anti-roll bar and securing the new one in place using the existing mounting points. Refer to your RC8B3-series manual for detailed step-by-step instructions, or contact our expert team at RC Model Shop for guidance.
  • What role does an anti-roll bar play in RC car handling? — Anti-roll bars control the amount of body roll your RC car experiences during cornering. By adjusting the bar thickness, you change the suspension's roll stiffness, which affects understeer and oversteer characteristics. This makes anti-roll bars one of the most effective suspension tuning tools available to racers, allowing you to dial in your car's handling for specific track conditions without major modifications.
  • Is this suitable for beginners or only experienced racers? — Whilst this is a genuine Factory Team component often used in competition, anti-roll bar tuning is actually an excellent first suspension adjustment for any RC enthusiast to explore. However, this is a spare part rather than a complete vehicle, so it's best suited to owners who already have an RC8B3-series buggy and want to optimise its performance. If you're new to RC cars, we recommend starting with a ready-to-run RC buggy kit and exploring tuning options as you develop your skills.
  • Why would I need multiple anti-roll bar options? — Serious RC racers keep multiple bar thicknesses in their pit box to allow quick tuning adjustments between practice runs and races. Different tracks, weather conditions, and track surface grip levels require different suspension setups. Having the AS81141 (2.8–3.0mm) alongside thinner alternatives gives you the flexibility to optimise your car's handling on any given day.
  • Is this a Factory Team genuine part? — Yes, the FT designation confirms this is an official Factory Team component from Associated Electrics, meeting the same specifications used by factory racing teams and competitive drivers worldwide.
