Overview

The Associated RC8B3 Engine Mount (AS81115) is an essential replacement spare part for RC enthusiasts and competitors running Associated RC8B3, RC8B3.1, or RC8B3.2 nitro-powered buggies. Whether you're a dedicated racer maintaining your competition rig or a weekend basher keeping your RC car UK-ready for consistent performance, this genuine Associated component ensures your engine mounting system remains secure and reliable. Engine mounts experience considerable stress during high-speed running, jumps and aggressive driving, making this a critical wear item that needs periodic replacement to maintain optimal engine alignment and vibration control.

As a branded replacement part directly from Associated, the RC8B3 Engine Mount guarantees perfect fitment and compatibility with your RC buggy. It's the straightforward solution when your existing mount shows signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Sourced from RC Model Shop, an authorised Associated retailer based in the UK, this spare part gives you peace of mind that you're installing genuine factory engineering into your model. For anyone invested in keeping their RC car performing at its best, replacing a worn engine mount is one of the most important maintenance tasks you can undertake.

The engine mount assembly plays a vital role in isolating vibration from the engine to the chassis, protecting both your motor bearings and RC car's structural integrity. A damaged or worn mount can lead to excessive vibration, poor handling characteristics, and accelerated wear on other engine components. This authentic Associated replacement ensures your RC8B3 buggy maintains the precise engine positioning that the engineers designed for optimal performance on the track or in the field.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated Component — This is an official replacement part manufactured by Associated, the company that engineered your RC8B3 buggy, ensuring perfect compatibility and durability that matches the original specification.

  • Direct Replacement — Designed as a straightforward swap for your existing worn or damaged mount, requiring no modifications or additional engineering to install into your RC car.
  • Vibration Isolation — The engine mount's primary function is to isolate vibration from the nitro engine to the chassis, protecting bearing life and maintaining precise engine alignment for consistent performance.
  • Routine Maintenance Essential — Engine mounts are subject to continuous stress during driving and require periodic replacement as part of regular RC car maintenance schedules.
  • Structural Support — Maintains proper engine positioning within the chassis, critical for correct carburetor operation, fuel line routing, and overall RC buggy handling characteristics.
  • Easy Installation — The straightforward design allows quick removal and installation of the new mount, minimising downtime and getting your RC car back to running condition rapidly.

Technical Performance

The Associated RC8B3 Engine Mount serves a critical engineering function in your nitro-powered RC buggy. This component is responsible for securing the engine to the chassis whilst isolating vibration through its material properties and design geometry. Engine mounts experience constant stress from the rotational forces of the crankshaft, explosive combustion events, and the dynamic loads transmitted during acceleration, braking, and cornering. The AS81115 mount is engineered to withstand these forces whilst maintaining precise alignment between the engine, fuel tank, and carburetor systems. Proper engine mounting is essential for reliable fuel delivery, as misalignment can cause fuel line stress, carburetor mounting issues, and inconsistent engine tuning. The material composition and construction method ensure durability across extended racing seasons and heavy use patterns. For RC buggy enthusiasts running Associated's proven RC8B3 platform, maintaining engine mount integrity is fundamental to competitive lap times and recreational driving enjoyment. Regular inspection and timely replacement prevent catastrophic engine movement that could damage the fuel system or cause the engine to contact the chassis during high-speed cornering.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an RC engine mount and why do I need to replace it? — An engine mount is the component that secures your nitro engine to the RC buggy chassis whilst isolating vibration through its elastomeric properties. Over time, rubber bushings degrade, metal becomes fatigued, and the mount can crack or become misaligned. Replacing the mount maintains proper engine positioning, protects bearing life, ensures correct fuel system operation, and restores the vibration isolation properties that keep your RC car running smoothly.
  • Is the AS81115 engine mount compatible with my RC8B3? — Yes, this mount is specifically designed for the Associated RC8B3, RC8B3.1, and RC8B3.2 buggy models. It is a direct replacement part that requires no modifications to install, making it the correct choice for maintaining these vehicles.
  • How often should I replace the engine mount on my RC buggy? — Engine mounts are wear items that degrade with use. Inspect your mount regularly for cracks, permanent deformation, or excessive play. Heavy users and competitive racers may need replacement every season or after particularly demanding driving sessions, whilst casual weekend bashers might replace mounts annually or less frequently depending on use intensity.
  • Can I use this engine mount on other Associated models? — The AS81115 is specifically engineered for the RC8B3 family of buggies. Whilst other Associated models may have similar mounting systems, you should consult your vehicle's manual or contact RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility before purchasing for other models.
  • What tools do I need to install this engine mount? — Installation requirements vary by your current mount's condition and the specific hardware configuration of your RC8B3. Generally, you'll need hex wrenches, possibly a hex socket set, and potentially a heat gun if the old mount is stuck due to dried fuel or paint. Consult your RC8B3 manual or contact our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop for detailed installation guidance.
  • Is this suitable for both competitive racing and casual driving? — Absolutely. Whether you're running your RC8B3 on the track for competition or bashing in the park for recreation, a properly functioning engine mount is equally essential to performance and reliability in both scenarios. Competitive racers may replace mounts more frequently due to intensive use patterns, but casual drivers benefit equally from maintaining a healthy engine mount.
