Overview

The Team Associated DC10 FT Machined Shock Pistons in blank specification represent a premium suspension upgrade path for serious RC drifters and competition enthusiasts in the UK. These Factory Team components are precision-engineered to deliver consistent performance during trackside testing and workshop builds, making them an essential part of fine-tuning your DC10 drift car setup. Whether you're running a brushless RC car at your local track or preparing for competitive events, these machined pistons provide the tolerances and quality standards that separate Factory Team parts from standard alternatives.

Designed specifically for the Team Associated DC10 1:10 RWD drift platform, these shock pistons are supplied in blank configuration, giving you the flexibility to tailor your suspension setup to match specific surface conditions, weather variations and your personal driving style. The machined construction ensures smooth operation and reliable damping characteristics across extended driving sessions, making them ideal for racers who demand precision from their RC equipment. Built to Factory Team standards using quality materials, these pistons represent a practical investment in performance optimisation for anyone serious about getting the most from their ready to run RC drift car.

RC Model Shop stocks authentic Team Associated Factory Team components, ensuring you receive genuine products backed by the manufacturer's engineering expertise. If you're upgrading from standard shock pistons or building a custom drift setup from scratch, these blank machined pistons give you the control and consistency needed for competitive performance in the UK RC drifting community.

Key Features

  • Machined Construction — Precision machining ensures tight tolerances and consistent performance, meaning your shock damping characteristics remain stable and predictable across multiple heat cycles and extended track sessions, which is crucial for drift car performance where suspension feel directly impacts control.
  • Factory Team Standards — These components meet the exacting quality standards set by Team Associated's Factory Team division, guaranteeing material quality and manufacturing precision that translates to longer component life and more reliable performance compared to standard alternatives.
  • Blank Specification — Supplied in blank form, these pistons allow experienced racers and technicians to customise their suspension setup without factory preset restrictions, giving you complete control over damping curves and suspension tuning for different track surfaces and conditions.
  • DC10 Specific Design — Purpose-engineered for the Team Associated DC10 drift car platform, these pistons integrate seamlessly with the DC10's suspension geometry and tuning capabilities, ensuring optimal compatibility and performance integration.
  • Quality Materials — Built from premium materials that resist wear and maintain dimensional stability under repeated compression cycles, supporting consistent shock performance throughout extended racing sessions.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated DC10 FT Machined Shock Pistons represent the precision engineering approach that Factory Team brings to suspension optimisation. These machined pistons are designed to work within the DC10's advanced suspension system, which includes fully adjustable camber, multiple motor mounting positions, and tunable anti-squat and toe-in settings. The blank specification means these pistons come without preset orifice configurations, allowing you to drill and customise them to your exact damping requirements. This level of customisation capability is typically found only in competition-grade RC suspension components and reflects the DC10's heritage as a platform descended from Team Associated's on-road racing legacy. The machined tolerances ensure that each piston maintains consistent dimensions and smooth operation, critical for delivering the precise shock response needed in drift driving where weight transfer and suspension compliance directly affect cornering performance and line consistency. Whether you're running lightweight carbon chassis configurations or experimenting with different spring rates and shock fluids, these blank pistons provide the foundation for fine-tuned suspension setup work. The quality of materials used in their construction means they'll withstand the demands of regular track use and maintain their dimensional integrity across numerous heat cycles, supporting reliable long-term performance in your RC drift car.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does blank specification mean on RC shock pistons? — Blank shock pistons come without pre-drilled damping holes, allowing you to customise the damping characteristics by drilling your own orifices. This gives experienced racers complete control over suspension tuning and lets you tailor the shock response to specific track conditions, weather, and your driving style without factory limitations.
  • Are these compatible with all DC10 models? — These pistons are specifically designed for the Team Associated DC10 drift car platform, including both the RTR and kit versions. They integrate with the DC10's suspension geometry and shock tower design, so compatibility is assured for any DC10 variant.
  • Why choose machined pistons over standard alternatives? — Machined pistons offer tighter tolerances, more consistent performance, and longer component life compared to injection-moulded or cast alternatives. For competitive RC drifting where suspension precision directly impacts lap times and consistency, the investment in Factory Team machined components pays dividends in setup reliability and tuning repeatability.
  • What is the difference between blank and pre-drilled shock pistons? — Pre-drilled pistons come with factory-set damping orifices and require no customisation, making them suitable for standard driving. Blank pistons allow experienced racers to customise damping by drilling their own holes, providing unlimited tuning potential for competition setups and surface-specific configurations.
  • Can beginners use these pistons? — These are best suited for experienced RC racers and technicians with knowledge of suspension tuning and piston customisation. Beginners may prefer pre-configured shock components until they develop suspension setup expertise. However, blank pistons become invaluable once you understand damping principles and want to optimise your drift car for competitive performance.
  • What tools do I need to customise blank pistons? — You'll need precision drilling equipment, calipers or a precision ruler for measuring orifice dimensions, and potentially a hobby knife or pin vise for accurate hole creation. Many experienced RC racers use calibrated drill bits or purpose-made piston drilling tools to ensure consistent orifice sizing.
