Overview
The Team Associated 13MM Front Shock Springs in Blue represent a significant upgrade for RC truck enthusiasts looking to enhance their RC10T6.2 and RC10SC6.2 vehicles. These precision-engineered front springs deliver a 4.80 lb/in spring rate in a 54mm length, bringing the advanced 13mm shock technology from the legendary RC10B6.4 buggy directly to your truck platform. Whether you're a competitive racer or a weekend basher exploring the world of RC cars in the UK, this upgrade transforms how your truck handles both smooth and challenging terrain.
Part of Team Associated's commitment to performance innovation, these springs work in conjunction with the 13mm shock upgrade system to provide a superior ride quality that absorbs impacts through corners whilst maintaining excellent pack on landing from jumps. The blue colour coding makes identification simple, and the AS71162 part number ensures you're getting genuine Associated quality that's trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK and globally. If you're serious about getting the most from your RC truck experience, this is an essential upgrade worth considering.
These springs are not just about comfort; they represent genuine engineering advancement in RC suspension technology. The 13mm shock system allows you to run lighter shock oils whilst maintaining the responsive, planted feel that competitive drivers demand. Whether you're running on concrete car parks, grassy fields, or more technical outdoor courses, upgrading to these springs will noticeably improve your truck's performance and handling characteristics.
Key Features
- 13mm Shock Compatible — These front springs are specifically designed to work with the 13mm shock upgrade available for RC10T6.2 and RC10SC6.2 trucks, allowing you to access superior shock technology previously exclusive to the RC10B6.4 buggy platform.
- 4.80 lb/in Spring Rate — The blue-coded 4.80 lb/in rate provides the ideal balance between compliance over small bumps and sufficient support during high-speed landings, giving your truck a planted, composed feel across varying terrain.
- 54mm Length Specification — The L54 (54mm) length is precisely engineered for truck front shock mounting, using the existing 27.5mm buggy rear shock length as a foundation whilst adapting perfectly to front-end geometry.
- Larger Piston Bore Technology — The 13mm-bore piston design allows you to run lighter shock oils without sacrificing high-speed pack, meaning you get the soft, supple low-speed compliance of a delicate setup with the firm support needed for jump landings.
- Genuine Associated Quality — Manufactured by Team Associated, a company with decades of RC expertise, these springs are precision-engineered to exact tolerances and quality standards that serious RC competitors rely upon.
- Colour-Coded Identification — The blue colour makes it instantly clear which spring rate you're running, helping you track your setup changes and communicate with fellow RC enthusiasts about your vehicle configuration.
- Easy Installation — These springs drop into your existing 13mm shock bodies without additional modification, making the upgrade straightforward for both experienced technicians and those newer to RC customisation.
Technical Performance
These Team Associated 13MM Front Shock Springs deliver exceptional engineering designed specifically for modern RC truck competition and recreational driving. The 4.80 lb/in spring rate sits in the sweet spot for most driving conditions encountered on UK tracks and outdoor venues, providing enough compliance to soak up impacts during cornering whilst maintaining sufficient support during high-speed transitions and jump landings. The 54mm length (L54) is precision-engineered to work with the 13mm shock upgrade system, which features larger-bore pistons (13x36mm shock bodies) compared to older shock designs. This larger piston bore is the key to the system's performance advantage: the increased piston surface area allows shock oils to move more freely, meaning you can run considerably lighter oils than traditional smaller-bore shocks whilst still maintaining excellent high-speed damping characteristics. This translates directly to improved performance — softer low-speed bumps feel genuinely supple, yet when you land a jump or hit a kerb at speed, the suspension packs up intelligently to protect your truck and maintain control. The springs work in concert with the truck front shocks using the established 27.5mm buggy rear shock length foundation, ensuring compatibility with your existing RC10T6.2 or RC10SC6.2 platform. Associated identifiers 7.05T and 1.3D are also recognised markers for this specific spring specification, useful when discussing setups with other RC enthusiasts or when sourcing replacement springs. The engineering philosophy behind this 13mm shock technology prioritises the feel and behaviour that experienced RC drivers demand — the sensation of landing on a pillow during high-speed impacts, combined with the responsive, planted feel through technical sections of track.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these front springs fit my standard RC10T6.2 or RC10SC6.2 without modification? — These springs are designed specifically for the 13mm shock upgrade kit. If your truck is still running the standard smaller-bore shocks, you'll need to upgrade to the 13mm shock system first. Once installed, these springs drop directly into place without any chassis or shock body modifications required.
- What makes the 13mm shock system better than the standard shocks? — The larger 13mm-bore piston allows you to run lighter shock oils whilst maintaining excellent high-speed damping. This creates a noticeably softer feel over small bumps and through technical sections, whilst still providing firm support during landings and high-speed impacts. It's like landing on a pillow rather than a board — your truck soaks up energy more effectively.
- How does the 4.80 lb/in spring rate compare to other available rates? — The 4.80 lb/in rate sits in the middle of the spring rate spectrum for RC truck applications. This makes it a versatile choice suitable for most UK driving conditions and track types. If you find your truck is diving too much under braking or wallowing over jumps, you might experiment with stiffer rates; if it feels too stiff and bouncy, softer rates are available.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — These springs are part of a performance upgrade system, so they're best suited to drivers who already have experience with their RC truck and understand how suspension adjustments affect handling. If you're completely new to RC cars, start with your truck's standard setup and move to this upgrade once you're familiar with basic maintenance and tuning.
- Can I mix and match spring rates between front and rear? — Yes, Team Associated offers different spring rates for both front and rear, as well as different lengths (54mm for truck front, 72mm for truck rear). You can absolutely tune your front and rear rates independently to dial in your truck's handling balance for your specific driving style and local track conditions.
- How often will I need to replace these springs? — Shock springs are relatively durable components. They typically last thousands of running hours before requiring replacement. You'll know it's time when they no longer return to their original length quickly or when you notice your ride height dropping consistently. For most recreational users, replacements are only needed every couple of years of regular use.
- What shock oil should I run with these springs? — The beauty of the 13mm shock system is flexibility. The larger piston bore allows you to run lighter oils than traditional shocks. Many drivers use between 15-weight and 30-weight oils depending on temperature and track conditions. Experiment to find what feels best — lighter oils provide better low-speed compliance, whilst heavier oils add damping for high-speed stability.
