Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are drive shaft set screws and why do I need them? — Drive shaft set screws, also called grub screws, are small fasteners that secure driveline components to drive shafts and related parts. During normal RC car operation, vibration and impact forces can gradually loosen these screws, potentially leading to loose components and poor drivetrain performance. Having replacement set screws available ensures you can maintain secure fastening during regular maintenance or quickly replace lost or damaged screws without downtime.
  • Will these fit my Associated CR12? — Yes, these are genuine Associated CR12 Drive Shaft Set Screws (part number AS41040), specifically designed and recommended for Associated CR12 drive shaft assemblies. They are engineered to the exact specifications required for CR12 compatibility and will fit perfectly without modification.
  • How often should I replace my drive shaft set screws? — The frequency depends on your driving style and maintenance schedule. Regular inspection during routine maintenance is recommended, with replacement whenever you notice loose screws, stripped threads, or missing fasteners. Many RC enthusiasts refresh their hardware during seasonal maintenance or after significant driving periods.
  • Are these the correct part number for my spare parts collection? — The part number AS41040 specifically identifies Associated CR12 Drive Shaft Set Screws. Using the correct part number ensures you receive the right fasteners for your CR12 chassis and simplifies organisation of your spare parts kit, preventing mix-ups with fasteners from other model platforms.
  • Can I use these for other Associated models? — These set screws are specifically designed for CR12 drive shaft assemblies. Whilst they may fit other models, genuine Associated fasteners are engineered for specific platforms, so it's recommended to use CR12-specific screws for your CR12 chassis to ensure proper fit, secure holding, and long-term reliability.
  • What makes official Associated spares better than generic alternatives? — Official Associated replacement parts are manufactured to exact OEM specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility, proper material quality, and reliable performance. Using genuine parts maintains your vehicle's integrity, performance consistency, and resale value, whilst avoiding potential fitment issues or premature wear associated with generic alternatives.
