Overview

The Team Associated FT HD Titanium Ballstuds Short – 12mm (AS32099) represent a genuine Factory Team upgrade option for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand the highest quality performance hardware for their builds. Whether you're running an on-road touring car, off-road buggy, or truggy, these titanium nitride coated ballstuds deliver measurable improvements in suspension performance and longevity. As an authorised Associated dealer, RC Model Shop stocks this premium Factory Team component for customers seeking competition-grade upgrades that make a real difference to handling consistency and maintenance intervals.

Ballstuds are critical suspension components that connect shock shafts to suspension arms and chassis points, meaning their quality directly affects how your RC car performs on track or off-road terrain. Team Associated's introduction of titanium nitride coating to their Factory Team ballstud line represents a significant step forward in RC hardware engineering. The titanium nitride process reduces friction at the ball joint interface whilst simultaneously increasing surface hardness and durability, which translates to smoother suspension articulation, more consistent handling characteristics, and reduced wear over time. For both on-road racers chasing lap time consistency and off-road bashers tackling rough terrain, this upgrade delivers tangible benefits that justify the investment.

The short 12mm neck specification suits specific applications where compact geometry is required, making this an essential component for builders working with particular chassis configurations or suspension setups. Factory Team ballstuds come packaged in pairs, and this heavy-duty design ensures you have genuine, matching components for your build. If you're serious about RC performance in the UK, whether competing in club races or pushing your RC car to its limits, the Team Associated FT HD Titanium Ballstuds Short – 12mm should be on your parts shelf.

Key Features

  • Titanium Nitride Coating — The ballstuds are coated with titanium nitride, a hard ceramic material that dramatically reduces friction at the ball joint whilst increasing surface hardness, meaning your suspension components move more freely with less resistance and wear.
  • Short 12mm Neck Specification — The short neck design (12mm length) is engineered for specific suspension geometries and applications where a compact ballstud is required, allowing precise tuning of suspension kinematics and anti-roll bar mounting points.
  • Heavy-Duty (HD) Design — These ballstuds are built to Factory Team standards with reinforced construction that withstands the demands of competitive racing and high-impact off-road driving without failure or loosening.
  • Paired Components — Each package contains two matching ballstuds, ensuring you have genuine, identical parts for symmetrical suspension setup and balanced handling characteristics across your RC car.
  • Factory Team (FT) Series — As part of Team Associated's premium Factory Team line, these ballstuds meet the same exacting standards used by competition drivers and team mechanics worldwide.
  • Genuine Associated Part — This is an authentic Team Associated component, not an aftermarket imitation, guaranteeing fitment compatibility, material quality and performance as designed by the manufacturer.
  • Reduced Maintenance — The low-friction titanium nitride coating means less binding, squeaking and wear at the ball joint, reducing the frequency of replacement and maintenance downtime between racing events.
  • Improved Handling Consistency — By reducing friction in the suspension, these ballstuds allow more consistent feedback and predictable handling in both on-road racing and off-road applications, critical for lap time improvement.

Technical Performance

Team Associated engineered these FT HD Titanium Ballstuds with precision manufacturing standards that reflect decades of experience in competitive RC racing. The titanium nitride coating is applied through a specialised PVD (physical vapour deposition) process, the same technology used on high-performance shock shafts, creating a surface finish that measures significantly higher on the hardness scale than standard steel. This coating reduces the coefficient of friction at the ball joint interface, meaning less resistance and smoother articulation as your suspension compresses and extends through corners, bumps and landing impacts. The short 12mm neck geometry is critical for specific chassis platforms and suspension configurations, particularly where space constraints or particular anti-roll bar mounting points require a more compact ballstud dimension. The heavy-duty design incorporates reinforced ball geometry and stem construction to withstand the lateral and torsional forces generated during aggressive driving, whether that's competitive circuit racing, rally-style off-road driving or high-speed bashing. Compatible with multiple Team Associated platforms including the TC5, TC6, TC6.2, TC7, TC7.1, TC7.2, RC10F6 and RC12R6, these ballstuds integrate seamlessly into existing setups whilst delivering immediate performance benefits. The titanium nitride surface treatment resists corrosion and maintains its low-friction characteristics even after repeated use in wet or dusty conditions common in UK RC racing and off-road events. Whether you're upgrading a single worn ballstud or refreshing your entire suspension package, these Factory Team components represent a measurable upgrade that serious RC builders and competitors recognise as essential.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What vehicles do these Team Associated FT HD Titanium Ballstuds fit? — These short 12mm ballstuds are compatible with multiple Team Associated platforms including the TC5, TC6, TC6.2, TC7, TC7.1, TC7.2, RC10F6 and RC12R6. We recommend consulting your specific kit manual for suggested compatibility and correct installation locations, as ballstud placement varies depending on your chassis setup and suspension geometry.
  • Why would I upgrade to titanium nitride coated ballstuds? — The titanium nitride coating reduces friction at the ball joint whilst increasing surface hardness, meaning your suspension articulates more smoothly, handling becomes more consistent, and the components last longer before requiring replacement. For competitive racers in the UK chasing lap time improvements and reduced maintenance, this upgrade delivers measurable performance gains.
  • Are these ballstuds suitable for both on-road and off-road RC cars? — Yes, Team Associated specifically engineered these ballstuds for both on-road touring cars and off-road buggies and trucks. The friction-reducing titanium nitride coating provides benefits in both applications by ensuring more consistent suspension behaviour and reduced wear regardless of driving style or terrain.
  • What is the difference between short and long neck ballstuds? — The short 12mm neck specification is more compact and suits specific suspension geometries and applications where space constraints exist or particular anti-roll bar mounting points require a shorter dimension. Long neck ballstuds provide greater clearance for different chassis configurations. Always refer to your manual to determine which specification your build requires.
  • How often do I need to replace ballstuds? — Standard ballstuds require replacement when the ball joint becomes loose, worn, or binding. The titanium nitride coating on these Factory Team ballstuds significantly extends service life and reduces the frequency of replacement compared to standard steel components, saving you money and downtime between races.
  • Do these ballstuds come in a pair or individually? — These ballstuds are packaged in pairs, giving you two matching components. Since most RC cars require ballstuds on both sides for symmetrical suspension setup, this pairing ensures balanced handling characteristics and consistent performance across your vehicle.
  • Are these genuine Associated parts? — Yes, these are authentic Team Associated Factory Team components manufactured to the same exacting standards used by competition drivers worldwide. Purchasing genuine parts from an authorised UK retailer like RC Model Shop guarantees fitment compatibility and performance as designed by the manufacturer.
