Overview
The Team Associated FT Chassis Droop Gauge Support Blocks (AS1531) are an essential precision tool for any serious RC enthusiast working with Team Associated RC cars, particularly the popular RC8 series and other 1:8 scale off-road buggies. These support blocks provide a flat, stable reference platform when checking suspension droop with your chosen chassis droop gauge, ensuring repeatable and accurate measurements every single time. Whether you're fine-tuning a competition-grade RC buggy or maintaining your weekend basher, these blocks help you achieve consistent left-to-right and front-to-rear comparisons for precise suspension adjustment. Part of the Factory Team range, they represent the same commitment to precision engineering that defines Team Associated's reputation in the RC hobby.
Suspension setup is critical to RC performance on the track or trail. Droop measurement—the distance the suspension extends when the vehicle is lifted—directly affects handling characteristics, stability, and how your RC car behaves through corners and over obstacles. Without a stable reference point, your measurements will be inconsistent, leading to unpredictable handling and poor performance. The FT Chassis Droop Gauge Support Blocks solve this problem by providing paired support blocks that hold your chassis at a consistent height, allowing you to take repeatable measurements with confidence.
These blocks are perfect for anyone serious about RC car setup, from club racers preparing for competition events to dedicated hobbyists who understand that attention to detail separates good setups from great ones. They're equally useful for both experienced builders and those new to precision RC tuning who want to learn the correct way to measure and adjust suspension geometry. A simple, dependable addition to any RC pit box, and an easy way to refine handling with complete confidence.
Key Features
- Flat, stable reference platform — The paired blocks create a level foundation for your chassis, eliminating measurement errors caused by uneven work surfaces or inconsistent positioning, which is essential when comparing suspension settings across different areas of your RC car.
- Repeatable measurement capability — By providing a consistent reference point every time you check your droop gauge, these blocks allow you to achieve identical measurements session after session, making it simple to track setup changes and verify that adjustments have the desired effect.
- Precision suspension tuning — Accurate droop measurement is fundamental to suspension geometry, affecting ride height, roll centre, and overall handling characteristics on both clay tracks and terrain varied enough to demand precise setup.
- Left-to-right and front-to-rear comparison — Place the support blocks under your chassis in different positions to compare suspension droop across all four corners, ensuring balanced geometry and symmetrical handling from left to right and front to back.
- Factory Team quality — Part of Team Associated's Factory Team (FT) range, these blocks meet the same engineering standards as competition components and are built to withstand the demands of serious RC competition and long-term hobby use.
- Compatible with RC8 and other Team Associated chassis — These blocks are specifically designed to work with Team Associated chassis including the RC8B4, RC8B4e, and RC8B3 series, though they'll support any 1:8 scale RC buggy during setup procedures.
- Essential pit box tool — Whether you're preparing for a race event, maintaining your RC car between sessions, or experimenting with suspension geometry, these blocks represent an inexpensive but invaluable addition to your tool collection.
Technical Performance
Suspension setup in RC cars is not guesswork—it's precision engineering. Droop measurement determines how much your suspension compresses when the vehicle is at rest, which directly influences ride height, weight distribution, and how the vehicle responds to track conditions. The Team Associated FT Chassis Droop Gauge Support Blocks are manufactured to tight tolerances, ensuring that the reference surface is genuinely flat and that repeated measurements yield identical results. This consistency is particularly important when setting up modern 1:8 scale electric off-road buggies like the RC8B4e, which feature innovative geometry including reduced kingpin inclination steering blocks and new front upper suspension arm designs that require precise measurement to optimise. The blocks work in conjunction with a separate droop gauge (such as the FT RC8 Droop Gauge, 70-135mm, sold separately) to provide a complete measurement system. For competitive racers in the UK RC racing community, accurate setup is the difference between winning and going home empty-handed. These support blocks, though simple in appearance, embody the precision philosophy that has made Team Associated one of the hobby's most respected manufacturers since their establishment as leaders in 1/8 scale off-road racing. They're manufactured from durable materials designed to withstand years of pit box use, making them a genuine investment in your RC hobby rather than a consumable item.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly is droop and why do I need to measure it? — Droop is the distance your suspension extends downward when the chassis is lifted off the ground. Measuring droop is essential because it directly affects your vehicle's ride height, weight distribution, and how it handles during racing or off-road driving. Incorrect droop leads to poor handling, unpredictable steering response, and inconsistent performance. By using these support blocks with a droop gauge, you can ensure your suspension geometry is optimised for your specific track conditions and driving style.
- Are these support blocks suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. While droop measurement is often associated with competitive racing, understanding suspension geometry benefits drivers at all skill levels. Beginners who take the time to learn proper setup techniques—with tools like these support blocks—will quickly improve their driving performance and develop a deeper understanding of how RC cars work. Team Associated even publishes detailed setup sheets for their RC8 series to help drivers of all experience levels.
- Will these blocks work with my Team Associated RC8 chassis? — These blocks are specifically designed for Team Associated 1:8 scale chassis, particularly the popular RC8B4, RC8B4e, and RC8B3 series buggies. They should work with any Team Associated 1:8 scale chassis of similar dimensions. If you have a different brand or scale of RC car, check compatibility before purchasing.
- Do I need a droop gauge to use these support blocks? — Yes, these blocks provide the stable reference platform, but you'll also need a separate droop gauge to actually measure the suspension extension. Team Associated offers the FT RC8 Droop Gauge (70-135mm range) which is designed specifically to work with these support blocks, providing a complete measurement system for serious setup work.
- How do I use these blocks for setup? — Place the paired support blocks under your chassis at the front, take a droop measurement with your gauge, record the value, then move the blocks to the rear and repeat. Compare all four corners to ensure balanced suspension geometry. Consistent use of these blocks ensures you can repeatably measure the same position, making it easy to verify that suspension adjustments are working as intended.
- What is the difference between these blocks and just sitting my RC car on a flat workbench? — These purpose-designed support blocks provide a dedicated reference platform specifically engineered for consistent chassis positioning. A flat workbench might seem adequate, but these blocks eliminate variables like uneven surfaces, dust, or slight tilting that can introduce measurement errors. For competitive RC car setup or serious hobbyists who value precision, these blocks are genuinely worth the investment.
