The Associated Factory Team Aluminium Servo Horn 18.5mm 23T KO/Sanwa (AS1361) represents a significant upgrade for RC enthusiasts looking to enhance their steering performance and servo longevity. This machined aluminium servo horn is specifically designed for demanding off-road RC applications, offering a superior alternative to the standard plastic horns that come factory-fitted on most servos. Whether you're racing competitively or enjoying weekend bashing sessions with your RC car in the UK, this Factory Team component delivers the precision steering feel and durability that serious RC drivers demand.
Manufactured by Associated Electrics, a recognised leader in high-performance RC components, this servo horn combines engineering excellence with practical benefits that make it an essential upgrade for RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8T3, and RC8T3e owners. The innovative 18.5mm length design doesn't just look professional—it fundamentally improves how your RC buggy or truck responds to steering input, giving you the control advantage you need on technical tracks and challenging terrain. If you're serious about RC car performance in the UK and want to reduce servo wear whilst gaining a smoother, more responsive steering feel, this Factory Team horn is the upgrade you've been looking for.
Unlike cheap plastic alternatives that flex under load and wear quickly, this aluminium servo horn maintains its rigidity and precision through countless hours of driving. The investment in this upgrade pays dividends through extended servo life and noticeably improved handling characteristics that make your RC driving experience more enjoyable and competitive.
Key Features
- Machined Aluminium Construction — Manufactured from quality aluminium and precisely machined to exacting tolerances, this servo horn delivers strength and durability that far exceeds standard plastic horns, ensuring your steering linkage remains rigid and responsive even during aggressive cornering and demanding off-road driving.
- 23T Spline for KO Propo and Sanwa Servos — The 23T spline count is specifically engineered for compatibility with KO Propo and Sanwa servo shafts, ensuring a secure and precise fit that won't slip or wear prematurely during use.
- Optimised 18.5mm Length — The shorter 18.5mm arm length has been carefully engineered to provide a smoother, more precise steering response compared to longer plastic horns, whilst simultaneously reducing the mechanical load placed on your servo motor during steering inputs.
- Reduced Servo Load — By shortening the lever arm, this horn decreases the torque required from your servo to achieve the same steering angle, translating to longer servo life, reduced battery drain, and improved overall system reliability during extended driving sessions.
- Factory Team Engineered — This is genuine Associated Factory Team technology, designed and tested by the engineering team behind some of the most successful competition RC vehicles in the world, giving you proven performance benefits.
- Direct Steering Application — Purpose-designed as a steering servo horn, this component is optimised specifically for front-end steering applications where precision and responsiveness are critical to lap times and driving enjoyment.
Technical Performance
The Associated Factory Team Aluminium Servo Horn represents a significant engineering upgrade over standard plastic components. Machined from quality aluminium, this horn offers dramatically superior rigidity and precision compared to flexible plastic alternatives. The 18.5mm length has been carefully optimised through Associated's extensive competition testing to deliver the ideal balance between steering responsiveness and servo load reduction. At just 18.5mm, this horn arm is notably shorter than many competitors, which decreases the mechanical advantage required from the servo whilst improving steering feel and response times—critical factors for competitive RC driving in the UK. The 23T spline design ensures secure, slip-free engagement with KO Propo and Sanwa servo shafts, maintaining precise linkage throughout extended driving sessions. When combined with modern servo technology, this horn significantly extends servo operational life by reducing the electrical and mechanical stress placed on the servo motor. The aluminium construction also provides superior heat dissipation compared to plastic, preventing the servo connection point from loosening due to thermal expansion and contraction that occurs during extended use. This makes the AS1361 an ideal upgrade for anyone serious about RC performance, whether you're competing at circuit level or enjoying intensive weekend bashing sessions with your RC buggy or truck.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between this aluminium horn and the standard plastic horn that comes with my servo? — The Associated Factory Team horn is machined from quality aluminium, making it significantly stronger and more rigid than plastic alternatives. Plastic horns flex under load, compromising steering precision and wearing quickly. This aluminium horn maintains its shape and responsiveness throughout extended driving, delivers a noticeably smoother steering feel, and lasts considerably longer. The shorter 18.5mm length also reduces servo load, meaning your servo works less hard and lasts longer.
- Is this servo horn compatible with my RC car or truck? — This horn is specifically designed for the steering servo in Associated RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8T3, and RC8T3e models. The 23T spline makes it compatible with KO Propo and Sanwa servos commonly used in these vehicles. If you own one of these models, this is a direct-fit upgrade. If you use a different RC car or truck, you'll need to verify that your servo has a 23T spline for KO Propo or Sanwa compatibility.
- Will this servo horn improve my RC car's handling? — Yes, this upgrade delivers measurable handling improvements. The shorter 18.5mm arm length provides quicker, more precise steering response, whilst the rigid aluminium construction eliminates the flex present in plastic horns. These improvements are especially noticeable on technical, twisty courses where precise steering input is critical. You'll also benefit from reduced servo load, meaning the servo responds more quickly to your transmitter inputs.
- How much does this horn help extend servo life? — By reducing the mechanical load placed on the servo during steering inputs, this horn directly contributes to extended servo lifespan. Plastic horns force the servo to work harder because they flex under load; aluminium doesn't flex. Owners typically report that upgrading to this horn results in noticeably longer servo life and reduced wear, making it a cost-effective investment despite the higher upfront cost compared to plastic alternatives.
- Can I use this with other servo brands, or only KO Propo and Sanwa? — This horn features a 23T spline, which is the standard specification for KO Propo and Sanwa servos. Some other servo brands also use 23T splines, so compatibility depends on your specific servo. Before ordering, verify your servo's spline count and type. Associated makes servo horns for various spline counts, so if your servo uses a different spline specification, there may be an alternative option available.
- Why is the shorter 18.5mm length better than longer horns? — The shorter arm length reduces the mechanical leverage required from the servo to achieve a given steering angle. This means your servo doesn't have to work as hard, resulting in quicker response times, reduced battery drain, less servo heating, and ultimately longer servo life. Additionally, shorter arms are less prone to flex and vibration, delivering the precise steering feel that competitive RC drivers demand.
- Is this product suitable for beginners? — Whilst there's nothing technically difficult about using this horn, it's primarily aimed at experienced RC users looking to upgrade their steering systems. Beginners will certainly benefit from the improved handling and servo longevity, but most people starting out use the factory-standard horn first. However, if you're buying an RC8B3 or RC8T3 model new and want the best possible steering experience from day one, upgrading to this horn is absolutely recommended.
