Overview

The Associated Factory Team Aluminium Pinion Gear 26T 48DP is an essential upgrade component for competitive RC enthusiasts and weekend bashers alike. Whether you're running an Associated RC buggy, truck, or short course vehicle, this precision-engineered pinion gear delivers the performance and durability you need to stay ahead of the competition. As a trusted UK RC retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine Associated parts for all the major RC platforms, and this Factory Team upgrade represents the perfect way to fine-tune your vehicle's performance and longevity.

This lightweight, hard-anodised pinion gear is manufactured from premium 7075-T6 aluminium, a material chosen specifically by Associated's Factory Team for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. The 26-tooth configuration at 48 diametral pitch (DP) offers the ideal balance for many popular RC platforms, making it one of the most versatile pinion options available for RC car UK enthusiasts. Whether you're competing in a local club event or enjoying some high-speed bashing at your favourite RC track, upgrading from standard steel pinions to this Factory Team alternative will immediately improve your vehicle's performance and handling characteristics.

Designed with precision engineering and attention to detail, this pinion gear features laser-etched tooth count for rapid identification during setup and maintenance. The hard-anodised finish provides exceptional durability, extending the service life of the gear significantly compared to standard untreated alternatives. With two secure set-screw holes for positive engagement with your motor shaft, you can be confident that this gear will remain locked in place during even the most aggressive driving sessions.

Key Features

  • Factory Team 7075-T6 Aluminium Construction — Manufactured from premium aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminium, this gear delivers superior strength and longevity whilst maintaining a lightweight profile, which contributes to improved acceleration and overall vehicle performance in RC racing and bashing applications.
  • Hard-Anodised Finish for Extended Life — The hard-anodised surface treatment provides exceptional durability and resistance to wear, corrosion, and damage from regular use, ensuring your pinion gear remains in pristine condition for hundreds of hours of RC driving.
  • Laser-Etched Tooth Count — Each gear features a laser-etched tooth count (26T in this case), allowing you to quickly and accurately identify the gear during setup adjustments, motor timing changes, or when building spare drivetrain kits for your RC car.
  • Two Secure Set-Screw Holes — Dual set-screw mounting points provide rock-solid engagement with your brushless or brushed motor shaft, eliminating gear slip and ensuring consistent power delivery throughout your RC driving session.
  • 48 Diametral Pitch (48DP) Standard — The 48DP pitch specification is the industry-standard for 1/10-scale and many 1/8-scale RC vehicles, ensuring perfect compatibility with Associated vehicles and many other major RC platforms used across the UK.
  • 1/8 Inch (3.2mm) Shaft Bore — The precisely machined 3.2mm bore accommodates standard 1/8-inch motor shafts found on brushless and brushed motors, providing a secure fit without modification.

Technical Performance

This 26-tooth pinion gear represents a mid-range tooth count within the Associated Factory Team range, making it ideal for drivers seeking a balance between acceleration and top-end speed. The 48DP pitch classification indicates the gear's tooth density and size, which directly influences how the pinion meshes with your spur gear for optimal power transmission. The hard-anodised 7075-T6 aluminium construction ensures that tooth wear remains minimal even under extreme driving conditions, whether you're competing in tight club championships or enjoying casual weekend bashing sessions on challenging UK terrain. The precision engineering of Associated Factory Team components means that each gear is manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth, consistent meshing with your spur gear and eliminating vibration or noise that might otherwise develop with lower-quality alternatives. The dual set-screw holes provide redundant mounting security, which is essential for maintaining gear synchronisation during hard acceleration and braking events. For competitive RC racers running modern brushless motor systems in 1/10 and 1/8-scale platforms, this pinion gear upgrade delivers tangible improvements in durability, performance consistency, and overall vehicle reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Associated RC vehicles are compatible with the 26T 48DP pinion gear? — This pinion gear is listed as compatible with a wide range of Associated platforms including the TC7.1, TC7.2, B6.1, B6.1D, B6.2, B6.3, B6.4, B74.2, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, the RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2, and RC10DR, as well as the popular Element Enduro range. It is also suitable for other RC vehicles that utilise 48DP pinion gears with a 1/8-inch shaft bore. Check your vehicle's manual to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
  • Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent upgrade for beginner to intermediate RC enthusiasts. Rather than being a complex component requiring special tools, a pinion gear upgrade is a simple swap that takes just a few minutes with basic hex keys and set screws. The 26-tooth configuration provides balanced performance for learning, and the hard-anodised construction means it will withstand the bumps and impacts typical of learning-phase driving.
  • What is the advantage of 7075-T6 aluminium over standard steel pinions? — Whilst steel pinions are durable, 7075-T6 aluminium offers several key advantages: significantly reduced weight, which improves acceleration and overall vehicle responsiveness; superior longevity due to the hard-anodised finish which resists wear better than many steel alternatives; and easier identification and inspection due to the laser-etched tooth count. For competitive drivers and serious enthusiasts, the weight savings alone justify the upgrade.
  • How many teeth should I choose for my RC vehicle? — The tooth count (in this case, 26T) directly affects your vehicle's gearing and acceleration characteristics. Lower tooth counts (fewer teeth) provide faster acceleration and higher top speed, whilst higher tooth counts (more teeth) deliver stronger acceleration and lower top speed. The 26T option sits in the middle of the range, making it ideal for balanced performance across various track types and driving styles. Consult your vehicle manual or local RC club for specific recommendations based on your track and driving preferences.
  • Do I need special tools to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires only basic tools: typically a small hex key (Allen key) to tighten the set screws, and possibly a motor pinion tool to align the gear properly during installation. Most RC enthusiasts already have these tools in their workshop, though they are inexpensive if you need to purchase them.
  • What makes Factory Team gears different from standard Associated gears? — Factory Team gears represent the pinnacle of Associated's quality and performance standards. They are manufactured from premium materials (7075-T6 aluminium vs standard aluminium), feature superior hard-anodised finishes for extended life, and are assembled to tighter tolerances for smoother operation. These gears are the choice of professional and competitive RC drivers across the UK and worldwide.
