Key Features
- 5000mAh Capacity — This substantial capacity delivers extended runtime compared to smaller batteries, allowing you to enjoy longer sessions in your RC car, truck, or buggy without frequent charging interruptions. With 5000mAh, you'll get approximately 25-30 minutes of typical driving, depending on your vehicle setup and driving style.
- 2S 7.4V Configuration — The 2-cell, 7.4-volt nominal voltage is the industry standard for many popular RC vehicles, providing a perfect balance between power delivery and component compatibility. This voltage is ideal for brushless and brushed motors in the 17.5T to 25T range, making it exceptionally versatile across different vehicle types.
- 50C Continuous Discharge Rating — This means the battery can safely deliver 250 amps of continuous current (50C × 5Ah = 250A), providing plenty of power for responsive acceleration and sustained high-speed running. The 50C rating ensures compatibility with a wide variety of ESC (electronic speed controller) configurations used in UK RC racing and bashing.
- 100C Burst Discharge Rating — For short bursts of maximum power demand, the battery can safely handle 500 amps (100C × 5Ah = 500A), delivering explosive acceleration when you need it most. This burst capability is crucial for competitive racing and aggressive driving styles.
- Rugged Hard Case Protection — Unlike soft-case batteries that are prone to damage and puffing, the VZ0317 features a protective hard plastic case surrounding the lithium polymer cells. This rigid shell significantly extends battery lifespan by protecting the delicate internal cells from impact damage, punctures, and crushing forces during transport and use.
- Strain Relief Clip on Balance Lead — The balance connector features a reinforced strain relief clip that protects the delicate balance cables from being pulled or torn during normal use and storage. This thoughtful design feature prevents one of the most common battery failures and extends the overall service life of the pack.
- Pre-fitted Deans/T-Plug Connector — The battery arrives with the popular Deans (also called HCT) connector already soldered on, offering immediate compatibility with most modern RC vehicles. This eliminates the need for soldering and adapter cables in many cases, providing genuine plug-and-play convenience for ready-to-run setups.
- Standard XH Balance Lead — The balance connector uses the industry-standard XH format, ensuring compatibility with virtually all modern LiPo chargers available in the UK market. You won't need to purchase special adapters or proprietary charging equipment.
Technical Performance
The Voltz VZ0317 represents a carefully engineered balance between performance, reliability, and value. At 300 grams and measuring just 138 × 46 × 25 millimetres, this stick-format battery is compact enough to fit most modern RC vehicle battery trays whilst still packing 37 watt-hours of energy storage. The 50C continuous discharge rating (with 100C burst capability) places this battery firmly in the performance tier, capable of powering brushless motors with ratings from approximately 17.5T up to 25T depending on vehicle type and setup. This makes it equally at home in competitive club racing scenarios as it is in casual weekend bashing with a stock or slightly modified brushless motor. The hard case construction uses rigid plastic housing that resists the puffing and swelling that often affects soft-case packs after extended use, making the VZ0317 a genuinely durable investment that won't require replacement after a few months of regular use. The LiPo chemistry provides superior discharge characteristics compared to NiMH batteries, delivering more consistent voltage throughout the discharge cycle and faster acceleration response. The battery has been extensively tested to ensure compatibility with modern electronic speed controllers, whether you're running Hobbywing, Spektrum, or other reputable ESC manufacturers. Proper storage at storage voltage (nominally 3.85V per cell, or 7.7V for the complete 2S pack) and charging at sensible rates (the manufacturer recommends 1C charging, which equals 5 amps for this 5000mAh battery) will maximise the number of charge cycles and maintain cell balance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Voltz 5000mAh 2S battery suitable for beginners to RC? — Yes, this is an excellent battery for beginners, particularly those upgrading from a ready-to-run kit. The hard case design makes it forgiving of beginner-level crashes and impacts, whilst the pre-fitted Deans connector means no soldering is required. However, you will need to purchase a LiPo charger (separate from this battery) as LiPo batteries cannot be charged with standard NiMH chargers. We recommend pairing this battery with a decent charger and always monitoring it during charging until you're familiar with the charging process.
- What runtime should I expect from the 5000mAh capacity? — Most users report around 25-30 minutes of typical recreational driving in 1/10 scale vehicles, though this varies significantly based on motor type, vehicle weight, terrain, and driving style. Aggressive racing driving with constant acceleration will reduce runtime, whilst smooth, steady driving will extend it. Heavier vehicles and larger chassis will also see slightly reduced runtime compared to lighter setups.
- What charger do I need for this battery? — You need a dedicated LiPo charger that can balance charge 2S packs. The standard XH balance connector on this battery is compatible with virtually all modern LiPo chargers available in the UK, from budget options (£20-30) to advanced multi-function chargers (£100+). The charger must support LiPo chemistry and have a 2S balance port.
- Will this battery work with my specific vehicle? — The 5000mAh stick pack has dimensions of 138 × 46 × 25 millimetres, making it compatible with most popular 1/10 scale vehicles including FTX models (Carnage, Vantage, Outlaw, Outback, etc.), many Traxxas models (with a Deans adapter), Tamiya TT02 variants, Maverick models, and numerous brushless conversion buggies and trucks. However, some vehicles use round-case battery trays and will require a round-case LiPo instead. If you're unsure whether this battery will fit your specific chassis, check the dimensions of your battery tray or contact our expert staff who can advise you on compatibility.
- What is the difference between 50C and 100C on this battery? — The 50C is the continuous discharge rating, meaning this is the current the battery can safely deliver indefinitely during normal use. The 100C is the burst rating, allowing brief peaks of higher current for rapid acceleration. In practical terms, the 50C rating is what matters for sustained performance, while the 100C rating gives you extra headroom for short bursts of power.
- How should I store this battery? — LiPo batteries should be stored at storage voltage, which is approximately 3.85V per cell (7.7V total for a 2S pack). Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, and flammable materials. Many users keep LiPo batteries in a dedicated fireproof box for safety. Do not store fully charged or fully discharged; storage voltage extends battery lifespan significantly.
- Is the hard case worth the extra cost? — Yes, absolutely. Hard case batteries resist puffing and swelling far better than soft cases, maintain better cell balance over extended use, and are much more resistant to impact damage. Users typically report substantially longer service life from hard case packs, making the small additional cost a worthwhile investment.
- What is the minimum voltage I should discharge to before charging? — For 2S packs, the safe minimum voltage is 6.0V (3.0V per cell). Most modern ESCs have a low-voltage cutoff setting that prevents deeper discharge, protecting your battery. If your ESC doesn't have this feature, use a voltage checker to monitor the pack and stop running before reaching 6.0V.
