The stick pack format has become the standard for modern ready-to-run RC vehicles, and this Voltz battery is engineered to meet those exact requirements.
Key Features
- 2500mAh Capacity — This 2500 milliamp-hour rating provides genuine runtime for typical RC car bashing and racing applications, giving you meaningful operating time on a single charge without the excessive weight of larger capacity packs.
- 2S LiPo Chemistry — With two lithium polymer cells in series, this 7.4V battery delivers the power profile that modern brushless and brushed ESC units expect, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of ready-to-run RC cars sold in the UK market.
- 40C Continuous Discharge Rating — The 40C rating means this battery can safely deliver 100 amps of continuous power (2500mAh × 40C = 100A), providing the consistent current draw that racing and high-performance vehicles demand without thermal stress on the cells.
- 80C Burst Discharge Capability — For peak performance moments and acceleration bursts, the battery can handle 200 amps (2500mAh × 80C = 200A) for short periods, giving you those exhilarating acceleration responses when you need them most.
- Hard Case Protection — Unlike soft case batteries that flex and compress in storage, this hard case construction protects the battery cells from physical damage, extends the lifespan of your investment, and reduces the risk of internal shorts caused by compression or puncture.
- Deans Connector — The Deans connector (also known as HCT connector) is a low-resistance, industry-standard connection type widely recognised across ready-to-run RC vehicles in the UK, providing reliable power transfer with minimal voltage drop compared to older connector styles.
- 18.5 Watt-Hours Energy — This specification helps you understand the total energy storage capacity, with 18.5Wh representing a medium-capacity pack suitable for 15–20 minutes of typical RC car operation depending on your driving style and terrain.
- Compact Stick Pack Format — Weighing just 150 grams with dimensions of 138 x 46 x 25mm, this stick pack geometry is designed to fit seamlessly into standard battery trays found on popular RC cars including FTX models and other contemporary vehicles.
Technical Performance
The VOLTZ 2500mAh 2S 7.4V 40C Hardcase LiPo represents a well-engineered power solution built specifically for the demands of modern RC car racing and recreational driving. With its 40C continuous discharge rating, this battery is engineered to handle the sustained current draws required by competitive motorsport without experiencing thermal runaway or premature cell degradation. The 80C burst rating provides additional headroom for those intense acceleration moments and high-load scenarios that occur during real-world RC car operation. The hard case enclosure isn't merely cosmetic—it's a genuine engineering feature that protects the LiPo cells from mechanical damage, prevents internal short circuits that can occur when soft cases compress, and maintains the battery's structural integrity through countless charge cycles. The 18.5 watt-hour energy storage is carefully balanced to provide meaningful runtime (typically 15–20 minutes of casual bashing or racing depending on motor efficiency and driving style) without creating excessive weight that would compromise handling and performance. Built to work seamlessly with modern brushless and brushed ESC units in the 2S LiPo configuration, and featuring the industry-standard Deans connector found on most ready-to-run RC cars sold in the UK, this battery integrates immediately into your setup without requiring adapter cables or connector modifications. The stick pack dimensions of 138mm length, 46mm width, and 25mm height are designed to fit standard battery compartments on contemporary RC vehicle platforms, including popular models from FTX, Carisma, and other manufacturers.

- A suitable low-resistance connector adapter if your vehicle uses T-connector or other legacy connector types rather than Deans connectors
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this Voltz 2500mAh hard case LiPo fit my ready-to-run RC car? — The stick pack dimensions of 138 x 46 x 25mm and weight of 150 grams make this battery compatible with most contemporary ready-to-run RC cars sold in the UK, including FTX Vantage, FTX Bugsta, Carisma GT10RS, FTX Outback Hi-Rock, and FTX Ramraider models. However, some smaller 1/18-scale vehicles or compact models may require a round case battery instead. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting us before purchasing if you're unsure about compatibility.
- What charger do I need to use with this battery? — LiPo batteries require a dedicated balance charger that supports 2S configuration. The standard charging rate for this 2500mAh battery is 2.5 amps (1C rate), which means you can safely charge it in approximately one hour. Popular chargers used by UK RC enthusiasts for this battery include the Dualsky XC2623, IMAX B6 clones, and purpose-built LiPo chargers from established manufacturers. Always use a charger with balance-charging functionality to maintain cell health.
- Is this suitable for beginners to RC cars? — Yes, this battery is genuinely suitable for newcomers to RC cars. The hard case protection makes it forgiving during transport and casual storage, and the 2500mAh capacity provides meaningful runtime without excessive weight or complexity. However, you will need an ESC that supports 2S LiPo operation and a dedicated LiPo charger—you cannot use your vehicle's original charger if it was designed for NiMh batteries.
- What's the difference between the 40C and 80C ratings on this battery? — The 40C rating is the continuous discharge rating, meaning the battery can safely deliver 100 amps (2500 × 40) continuously without damage. The 80C rating is the burst rating, allowing 200 amps (2500 × 80) for short periods during acceleration or high-load moments. Think of it like a car engine: you can cruise at 40C indefinitely, but you can briefly exceed that for bursts of acceleration without harming the battery.
- Can I upgrade my NiMh-powered RC car to this LiPo battery? — In most cases yes, provided your ESC is LiPo-capable (many modern ready-to-run RC cars have compatible electronics). The 7.4V LiPo voltage is close to a 7.2V NiMh pack, so your motor and ESC should handle it. However, you must enable LiPo cutoff mode on your ESC to prevent over-discharge, which damages LiPo cells. If your vehicle is very old or uses legacy electronics, we recommend checking compatibility with us before purchasing.
- How long will this battery last between charges during typical RC car use? — For casual bashing and recreational driving, you can expect approximately 15–20 minutes of runtime on a single charge. This varies based on your vehicle's motor efficiency, driving style, terrain type, and the condition of your ESC. High-performance racing typically yields shorter runtime, whilst smooth ground and gentle driving yield longer sessions.
- What happens if I over-discharge this LiPo battery? — Over-discharging LiPo batteries causes permanent cell damage and dramatically reduces lifespan. This is why your ESC must be configured with LiPo cutoff mode enabled—it automatically stops power delivery when the battery voltage drops to a safe threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V for this 2S pack). Never bypass this protection feature.
- Is the hard case really necessary, or could I save money with a soft case battery instead? — The hard case provides genuine protection against mechanical damage during transport and storage, preventing punctures and compression-related shorts that soft case batteries can suffer. For club racers and serious enthusiasts, the hard case pays for itself through extended battery lifespan and reduced risk of failure during important races or events.
