Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this servo compatible with other RC models or just the 1:12 MB Scaler? — The ROC-C1171 is specifically engineered as the original equipment steering servo for the ROC Hobby 1:12 1941 MB Scaler. Whilst it may physically fit other models with similar steering linkage designs, it is optimised and tested for use with the MB Scaler platform. If you own a different model, we recommend checking compatibility with the manufacturer before purchasing.
  • How long does this servo last before needing replacement? — With normal use and proper maintenance, quality RC servos can last many years. However, factors such as frequency of use, driving conditions, exposure to water and debris, and the quality of your maintenance routine all affect servo lifespan. Regular cleaning and inspection of your servo and steering linkage will help extend service life and maintain performance.
  • What happens if my servo fails during a trail run? — A failed or damaged steering servo will result in loss of steering control, making your RC model undriveable. This makes having a reliable steering servo critical, and keeping a spare on hand is a smart practice for serious RC enthusiasts. The ROC-C1171 is an affordable component to keep as a backup.
  • Does this servo work with standard RC transmitters and receivers? — Yes, as long as your RC control system is compatible with the 1:12 MB Scaler platform, the servo will work seamlessly with your existing transmitter and receiver. The servo connects via standard servo connector to your receiver's steering channel.
  • Can I upgrade to a higher-torque servo? — Potentially, yes. Many RC enthusiasts upgrade steering servos to higher-torque models for improved responsiveness and steering precision. However, any upgrade servo must be compatible with the MB Scaler's servo bay dimensions and steering linkage design. The original equipment ROC-C1171 provides solid performance for standard trail running and scaling activities.
  • What is the ROC Hobby 1:12 1941 Willys MB Scaler and why is it popular in the UK RC community? — The 1941 Willys MB is an iconic vehicle immortalised in RC scale modelling. The 1:12 scale version from ROC Hobby has earned recognition for its authentic design, impressive off-road capabilities, and appeal to serious scale crawlers and trail runners. Many RC enthusiasts in the UK appreciate the realism of the MB platform and the satisfaction of running a true-to-life military vehicle replica on challenging terrain. The steering servo is a critical component in keeping these prized models operating at their best.
