Overview

The METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE, 168MM, CENTER-REAR (MTD4001) is a precision-engineered drivetrain upgrade component designed specifically for high-performance RC cars in the UK market. This titanium hybrid driveshaft represents a significant performance and durability enhancement for your RC car UK collection, particularly if you own an ARRMA 6S model. Whether you are a weekend basher pushing your brushless RC to its limits or a serious competitor seeking every possible advantage, this centre-rear dogbone delivers measurable benefits in both weight savings and corrosion resistance that matter in demanding RC use.

Built from military-grade titanium with hardened steel pins, the METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE transforms the stock drivetrain into a lighter, more responsive system. This is not simply a like-for-like replacement; it is a purposeful upgrade that reduces both static and rotational weight whilst maintaining the strength and durability your high-powered RC car demands. For owners of ready to run RC vehicles like the ARRMA Felony, Infraction, or Limitless V1 6S, this component represents one of the most cost-effective ways to squeeze additional performance and reliability out of your investment.

The 168mm length positions this dogbone perfectly in the centre-rear drivetrain location, a critical point where power transfer meets suspension movement. By reducing rotating mass at this precise location, you gain improved acceleration response, better weight distribution, and a noticeable improvement in overall handling characteristics. RC enthusiasts across the UK have embraced this upgrade as an essential component for anyone serious about maximising their vehicle's potential.

Key Features

  • Military Grade Titanium Construction — The driveshaft body is manufactured from military-grade titanium, which provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio compared to standard steel or aluminium alternatives. This material choice ensures your RC car experiences a significant reduction in both static weight (the weight sitting on your chassis) and rotational weight (the weight spinning during acceleration), directly translating to quicker acceleration and improved responsiveness through corners and jumps.
  • Hardened Steel Pins — Rather than compromising on durability for weight savings, the METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE incorporates hardened steel pins throughout the dogbone system. These pins maintain strength, durability and longevity throughout the entire drivetrain, ensuring that weight reduction does not come at the cost of reliability. Your RC investment is protected against premature wear even under intense use.
  • Super Anti-Corrosive Properties — Unlike traditional black oxide finished axles that develop rust spotting when exposed to moisture and salt from UK tracks and outdoor use, the titanium construction resists corrosion naturally. This means less maintenance time and longer service life between replacements, saving you money over the lifetime of your RC car.
  • Laser Engraved Method RC Logo — The precision laser engraving adds a professional, finished appearance whilst serving as quality assurance marking. This detail reflects the manufacturing standards you can expect from every component METHOD RC produces.
  • Measurable Weight Reduction — At just 28 grams compared to the stock weight of 35 grams, this represents a 7-gram reduction in rotating mass. Whilst this might seem modest, this weight saving at the drivetrain directly improves acceleration response and is one reason users report a claimed 5 mph increase in top speed, though actual performance gains depend on your specific setup and driving conditions.
  • Perfect Fit Engineering — Designed as a precision replacement for the centre-rear position, the 168mm length ensures perfect fitment without modification. This is a drop-in upgrade requiring no additional adjustments or compatibility concerns.

Technical Performance

The METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE represents a significant engineering advancement in RC drivetrain technology. At 168mm in length, this component is specifically engineered for the centre-rear drivetrain position in ARRMA 6S vehicles, where it handles the critical task of transferring power from the centre differential to the rear axle assembly. The use of military-grade titanium throughout the main shaft body, combined with hardened steel pins, creates a hybrid structure that optimises both weight and strength characteristics. The weight specification of 28 grams (down from 35 grams standard) may appear modest, but when considering that this weight is in constant rotation during acceleration and deceleration cycles, the rotational mass reduction translates directly into improved throttle response and acceleration performance. The super anti-corrosive titanium material eliminates rust spotting commonly seen on black oxide finished steel axles, making this component ideal for UK RC enthusiasts who use their cars in all weather conditions and occasionally in damp environments. The laser-engraved branding is not merely cosmetic; it serves as a quality verification marker that each component has passed manufacturing inspection. This dogbone is particularly suited to high-performance driving where consistent power transfer under load is essential, and where maintenance downtime must be minimised.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will this titanium dogbone fit my ARRMA 6S RC car? — Yes, the METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE 168MM is engineered specifically for ARRMA Limitless V1 6S, ARRMA Infraction 6S, and ARRMA Felony 6S models. However, it is important to note that this component does not fit the Limitless V2, as the drivetrain geometry differs between generations. Always verify your specific model year before purchasing to ensure compatibility with your ready to run RC vehicle.
  • How much speed increase will I gain from this upgrade? — METHOD RC claims this titanium dogbone is good for a 5 mph increase in top speed through weight reduction and improved power transfer efficiency. However, actual speed gains depend on multiple factors including your motor choice, battery voltage (3S or 6S LiPo), ESC programming, gearing, and driving surface. The most noticeable improvement users report is enhanced acceleration response rather than peak speed alone.
  • Why is titanium better than the stock steel dogbone? — Titanium offers superior properties for RC applications compared to standard black oxide steel. Titanium is significantly lighter (28 grams versus 35 grams stock), reducing rotational mass for quicker acceleration. Titanium also resists corrosion naturally, whereas black oxide steel develops rust spotting when exposed to moisture and salt from outdoor UK tracks. The hardened steel pins used throughout maintain full strength and durability, ensuring the weight savings do not compromise reliability under the stresses of 6S brushless power.
  • Will this dogbone require any modification to fit my ARRMA? — No, the METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE is engineered as a precision drop-in replacement for the centre-rear position in compatible ARRMA models. No modification, adjustment, or special tools are required beyond basic RC maintenance skills. Simply remove the stock dogbone and install the titanium replacement in identical fashion.
  • Is this suitable for high-performance 6S brushless use? — Absolutely. This titanium dogbone is specifically designed for ARRMA 6S vehicles, which represent some of the most powerful ready to run RC cars available. The hardened steel pins and titanium construction ensure durability under the demanding stresses of 6S brushless power delivery, making this an essential upgrade for anyone running high-voltage LiPo batteries in their RC car.
  • How long will this titanium dogbone last? — Titanium's inherent corrosion resistance and the hardened steel pins ensure extended service life compared to stock components. Maintenance is minimal beyond normal RC drivetrain checks; you simply need to inspect the pins periodically for wear and ensure they remain properly seated. The anti-corrosive properties mean no rust spotting or degradation from moisture exposure, a common issue with black oxide finished axles on UK tracks.
  • What is the difference between this titanium dogbone and other upgrade options? — The METHOD TITANIUM DOGBONE combines three key advantages: military-grade titanium body (lighter than steel or aluminium), hardened steel pins (maintaining full strength), and natural corrosion resistance (eliminating rust spotting). Alternative materials like standard steel add no performance benefit and develop rust over time; aluminium options are lighter but less durable under 6S power loads. This hybrid titanium construction represents the optimal balance of weight savings, strength, and longevity for serious RC enthusiasts.
