Overview
The Method RC Method Metric Nut Driver (5.5mm) is an essential hand tool designed specifically for RC enthusiasts working on metric fasteners and nuts in radio control models. Whether you're setting up a new RC car, performing routine maintenance on your buggy, or fine-tuning your off-road truck, this dedicated nut driver provides the precision and control needed for consistent, professional results at the workbench or in the field. The 5.5mm size makes it ideal for working with common metric hardware found on popular RC models across the UK hobby scene.
When you're building or maintaining an RC model, using the correct tool for the job makes all the difference. A dedicated nut driver like this one allows you to apply controlled torque to small metric fasteners without the frustration of trying to use multipurpose tools that don't fit properly. This is particularly important when working on sensitive components where over-tightening or stripped threads can damage your model and ruin your setup. The Method RC nut driver has been engineered to solve these problems with thoughtful design features that make it easier and more enjoyable to use than standard drivers.
RC Model Shop stocks this practical tool for anyone serious about maintaining their RC collection. From beginners just getting started with their first RC car to experienced racers preparing competition vehicles, having the right nut driver in your toolbox is essential. It's a small investment that pays dividends in build quality, consistency and satisfaction with your hobby.
Key Features
- Colour Coded and Laser Etched — The driver is clearly colour coded and has laser etching for easier identification of the 5.5mm size, meaning you'll instantly grab the right tool without fumbling through your toolbox or misidentifying sizes when you're working on multiple projects.
- Ergonomic Handle Design — The handle has been specifically engineered to fit comfortably in your hand, providing a better grip and control compared to smaller, less comfortable drivers, which is especially valuable when your hands are slick from oil and grease during extended work sessions.
- Metric 5.5mm Size — This specific size covers a wide range of metric fasteners commonly found on RC models, buggies, trucks and other hobby projects, making it one of the most useful sizes to have in your toolkit.
- Controlled Torque Application — Using a dedicated nut driver allows you to apply precise, controlled torque to fasteners, which is essential for consistent builds and prevents over-tightening that could strip threads or damage delicate components.
- Professional Build Support — Whether you're performing routine maintenance, making adjustments to suspension or drivetrain, or completing a full build, this tool supports professional-quality results at every stage of your RC work.
Technical Performance
The Method RC Method Metric Nut Driver is engineered to the standards you'd expect from a recognised RC tools manufacturer. The 5.5mm metric size is precisely manufactured to fit standard metric nuts and fasteners without wobbling or slipping, which could cause rounding of corners or damage to hardware. The ergonomic handle construction provides superior grip and control, even when working in conditions where your hands may be contaminated with oil, grease or lubricants from your RC model. The colour coding and laser etching ensure long-term readability and identification, so even after years of use in your workshop, you'll be able to instantly identify this as your 5.5mm driver. The combination of thoughtful engineering and practical design makes this a reliable tool for both quick field adjustments and detailed workbench maintenance on any RC car, buggy, truck or other RC project you're working on.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What size nuts and fasteners does the 5.5mm nut driver fit? — This driver is specifically designed for standard metric 5.5mm nuts and fasteners. To ensure compatibility with your specific RC model, refer to your kit manual or assembly instructions to confirm that your model uses 5.5mm metric hardware before purchasing.
- Is this nut driver suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The Method RC nut driver is perfect for beginners learning to build and maintain their first RC car or truck. The ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use, and having the right tool for the job actually makes the building process easier and more enjoyable. It's one of the most essential tools any RC enthusiast should have.
- Why would I use a dedicated nut driver instead of a multi-tool? — A dedicated metric nut driver provides superior fit and control compared to multi-purpose tools. It prevents rounding of nut corners, reduces the risk of slipping, and allows you to apply the correct amount of torque without over-tightening and stripping threads on sensitive RC components. For the small investment, the improvement in build quality and consistency is significant.
- How does the ergonomic handle design benefit me? — The handle has been specifically shaped to fit comfortably in your hand and to provide a secure grip even when your hands are wet, oily or greasy from working on your RC model. This means less hand fatigue during longer build sessions and better control when working on delicate fasteners.
- What is the colour coding and laser etching for? — The colour coding and laser etching make it instantly easy to identify this as your 5.5mm driver, especially if you collect multiple nut drivers in different sizes. The laser etching is permanent and won't wear off, so your identification will remain clear even after years of use in your workshop.
- Will this work with my RC model? — This depends on whether your specific RC model uses 5.5mm metric nuts and fasteners. Check your kit manual, assembly guide or the original packaging to confirm the fastener sizes used on your particular model before purchasing.
