Overview

The FTX Socket Flat Head Screw M3 x 6mm is an essential replacement and upgrade component for RC enthusiasts maintaining their FTX RC models. Whether you're a dedicated basher, a weekend racer, or someone new to the RC hobby in the UK, having quality spare fasteners on hand is crucial for keeping your RC car, truck, or crawler in peak operating condition. These precision-engineered socket flat head screws are designed to work seamlessly with the entire FTX range of RC vehicles, from the robust FTX Outback series through to the compact FTX Mini Outback models and beyond.

Socket flat head screws are fundamental components in RC model assembly and maintenance. Unlike standard Phillips head or slot head screws, socket head screws provide superior grip and torque distribution, minimising the risk of stripping and ensuring components stay securely fastened even under the demanding conditions of off-road RC driving. The M3 x 6mm specification makes this screw ideal for a wide variety of small-to-medium assembly points across FTX vehicles, from body mount brackets to internal chassis assemblies. Having a selection of these screws in your RC spares collection means you're always prepared for maintenance, repairs, or upgrades without delay.

FTX has established itself as a leading manufacturer in the affordable RC hobby market, delivering quality vehicles and components that represent excellent value for money. This socket flat head screw demonstrates that commitment to quality even at the component level. Whether you're building a new FTX model from scratch, replacing worn fasteners, or simply stocking up your spares box, the FTX Socket Flat Head Screw M3 x 6mm is a reliable choice that ensures your RC hobby investment remains in top condition.

Key Features

  • Socket Head Design — The socket head style provides excellent grip when using an Allen key or hex tool, allowing you to apply consistent torque without risk of the tool slipping or damaging the screw head, which is essential for secure fastening in RC assemblies.
  • Flat Head Profile — The flat head sits flush with component surfaces, creating a clean, professional finish and reducing the risk of snagging or catching during assembly and operation of your RC vehicle.
  • M3 Diameter Specification — The M3 metric sizing ensures compatibility with FTX models and components designed to accept this standard fastener size, making this screw versatile across multiple FTX platforms.
  • 6mm Length — The 6mm length is precisely engineered to provide adequate thread engagement without protruding excessively, making it suitable for numerous assembly applications throughout FTX RC vehicles.
  • Quality Construction — FTX screws are manufactured to ensure consistent quality and durability, holding up under the vibration and stress inherent to RC off-roading and high-performance driving.
  • Essential Spare Component — Socket flat head screws are common wear items in RC models; having spares ensures you're never delayed by a missing or damaged fastener during maintenance or repairs.

Technical Performance

The FTX Socket Flat Head Screw M3 x 6mm represents precision engineering applied to fastening solutions for RC models. The socket head design, also known as cap screw or Allen bolt style, is specifically chosen because it distributes torque evenly across the socket and hex key tool, preventing the tool slippage and screw head damage that can occur with inferior fastener designs. The flat head profile ensures that when fully tightened, the screw sits flush with component surfaces, crucial for maintaining the clean lines of RC chassis and body assemblies. The M3 (3mm) diameter is a standard metric specification widely used in RC manufacturing, particularly in the FTX range which has standardised on metric fasteners throughout their designs. The 6mm length provides adequate thread depth for secure fastening to standard-gauge plastics and aluminium components common in FTX vehicles, from the FTX Outback 2.0 through to specialist crawlers like the FTX Hi-Rock. These screws are suitable for repeated assembly and disassembly, making them ideal for maintenance work on your RC car UK enthusiast setup. Whether securing body panels, mounting electronics, assembling suspension components, or attaching internal brackets, this M3 x 6mm socket flat head screw provides the reliability and consistency that RC hobbyists depend upon.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What FTX RC models use M3 x 6mm socket flat head screws? — These screws are compatible across the extensive FTX range of RC vehicles. The FTX compatibility list includes models such as the FTX Outback series (Outback, Outback 2.0, Outback Fury), FTX Mini Outback range, FTX Carnage and Carnage NT, FTX Colt, FTX Comet, FTX DR8, FTX Edge, FTX EVO30, FTX Hi-Rock, FTX Kanyon, FTX Mauler, FTX Mighty Thunder, FTX Outlaw, FTX Ravine, FTX Siege, FTX Stinger, FTX Tracer, FTX Vantage, and many other models in the current and legacy FTX lineup. Consult your specific model's manual or check with our team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your particular FTX vehicle.
  • How many screws should I keep as spares? — We recommend keeping a selection of common fasteners in several quantities. Socket flat head screws are frequently used assembly points, so having 5-10 M3 x 6mm spares on hand ensures you can address repairs without delay. Many RC enthusiasts maintain organised spares boxes sorted by size and type.
  • What tool do I need to install these screws? — The socket head design requires a 2.5mm hex key or Allen key tool. These tools are inexpensive and readily available from any RC hobby shop or general hardware store in the UK. Precision-sized hex keys ensure you apply torque properly without slipping.
  • Are these screws suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Socket flat head screws are used throughout FTX models which are designed for beginners and experienced hobbyists alike. If you're new to RC and have just purchased an FTX model, these are essential spares to keep in your maintenance kit.
  • Can I use these screws for other RC brands? — These are FTX-specific fasteners. However, as M3 x 6mm is a standard metric specification, they may be compatible with other RC brands that also use metric fasteners. Check your vehicle manual or contact us before using on non-FTX models.
  • How often do I need to replace socket head screws? — With proper care and appropriate torque application, these screws last a long time. They may require replacement if stripped (cross-threading), damaged by incorrect hex key size, lost during maintenance, or if you're upgrading components.
