Technical Performance

Miniature bearings like the Fastrax 6mm X 12mm X 4mm Bearing are fundamental to RC car performance and longevity. These precision components are designed to support rotating shafts and axles with minimal friction, allowing wheels to spin freely and drivelines to transmit power efficiently. The specific 6mm inner diameter, 12mm outer diameter, and 4mm width specification makes this bearing suitable for numerous RC platforms and applications. During normal RC operation, bearings experience continuous rotation combined with side loads from cornering, acceleration, and suspension movement. Quality bearings like this Fastrax unit are manufactured using hardened steel races and precision-grade ball bearings that maintain tolerances even under the demanding conditions found in RC crawlers, buggies, trucks and specialist models. Over time, dust contamination, water ingress, and normal wear can degrade bearing performance, reducing efficiency and creating noise. Regular bearing inspection and replacement as part of scheduled maintenance is essential for maintaining your RC car's handling characteristics and ensuring consistent performance at the track or trail. The FTBB22 represents genuine Fastrax quality at an accessible price point, making it an excellent choice for both routine maintenance and performance upgrades across your RC vehicle collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What RC vehicles is the Fastrax 6mm X 12mm X 4mm Bearing compatible with? — This bearing is designed as a general option part suitable for numerous RC platforms including Element Enduro, HPI RC vehicles, Mugen RC cars, Rival MT10, Tamiya models, Team Associated vehicles, Team Losi platforms, Traxxas models including the TRX-4, and Axial Racing crawlers. Always verify bearing location and application in your specific vehicle's manual before installation.
  • When should I replace my RC car's bearings? — Bearings should be inspected regularly during maintenance intervals. Replace them if you notice grinding sounds, excessive wheel drag, or loose play in the bearing when the wheel is spun by hand. Even if a bearing appears functional, replacing worn bearings during regular maintenance prevents unexpected failures and maintains consistent RC vehicle handling.
  • How do I install the Fastrax 6mm X 12mm X 4mm Bearing? — Installation depends on the specific location and RC vehicle model. Generally, bearings are pressed onto shafts or into bearing blocks using gentle pressure. Consult your RC vehicle's assembly manual for detailed installation instructions for your particular model. If unsure, our experienced team at RC Model Shop can offer guidance.
  • Why is bearing size specification important? — The 6mm x 12mm x 4mm dimensions must match your RC vehicle's bearing mounting locations precisely. Using incorrect bearing sizes can result in poor fit, excessive play, or inability to install properly. Always verify the exact bearing specification required for your vehicle before ordering replacement parts.
  • Are genuine Fastrax bearings worth the investment? — Yes. Quality bearings like Fastrax components maintain tighter tolerances, use superior materials, and deliver better performance and longevity compared to budget alternatives. For serious RC enthusiasts maintaining trail vehicles, buggies, trucks and crawlers, genuine Fastrax bearings offer reliability that translates to consistent performance and reduced downtime.
  • What is the difference between bearing sizes? — Bearing dimensions (inner diameter x outer diameter x width) determine compatibility and load capacity. The 6mm x 12mm x 4mm specification is optimised for specific RC applications. Different bearing sizes suit different mounting locations and load requirements. Always use the exact specification recommended for your vehicle.
