Overview

The FlySky FS-SR12 is a compact 12-channel 2.4GHz receiver designed for RC enthusiasts who demand reliable, versatile control across a wide range of hobby applications. Whether you're piloting fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, multicopters, RC cars, boats, or engineering vehicles, this receiver delivers the performance and flexibility you need. Operating on the ANT protocol, the FS-SR12 represents modern RC radio technology that's accessible to both experienced RC hobbyists in the UK and those new to radio control systems.

This 12-channel receiver stands out for its exceptional compatibility and signal reliability. With dual antennas and two-way transmission capability, the FS-SR12 maintains rock-solid connection over distances exceeding 1500 metres in open air conditions without interference. The receiver's compact dimensions of just 44.8 × 32 × 11.3 millimetres make it ideal for tight installations on RC cars, drones, and aircraft where space is at a premium. At only 13 grammes, weight is scarcely a consideration even on the most sensitive aircraft or racing RC vehicles.

Built to work seamlessly with ANT protocol transmitters such as the FlySky FS-ST8, the FS-SR12 offers multiple data output formats including PWM, PPM, i-BUS, and S.BUS. This multi-format approach ensures compatibility with virtually any RC model type, from basic RC buggies and crawlers to advanced multirotor systems requiring S.BUS communication. The receiver supports online firmware updates, meaning you can improve functionality and fix any issues without purchasing replacement hardware.

Key Features

  • 12 PWM Channels — This receiver outputs 12 independent PWM channel signals, providing sufficient control channels for complex RC models including helicopters with swashplate mixing, multicopters with redundant control, and advanced fixed-wing aircraft with flaps, landing gear, and auxiliary functions.
  • ANT Protocol 2.4GHz ISM Frequency — Operating on the 2.4GHz ISM band using the ANT protocol, this receiver avoids interference from WiFi and other wireless systems while maintaining legal compliance across the UK and EU markets. The protocol ensures fast, responsive control with minimal latency.
  • Dual Antennas with Two-Way Transmission — The receiver features two independent antennas that work together to maintain signal integrity even when one antenna is momentarily shadowed by the model's body or structure. Two-way transmission and transfer-back function provide feedback capability, allowing your transmitter to receive telemetry data from the receiver for enhanced situational awareness.
  • Extended Range Performance — With an air distance of over 1500 metres without interference, this receiver provides range suitable for long-range FPV flying, large-scale RC aircraft operations, and open-field flying of RC cars and buggies across sprawling UK landscapes.
  • Multiple Data Output Formats — The FS-SR12 outputs data in PWM, PPM, i-BUS, and S.BUS formats, ensuring compatibility with servo controllers, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), flight controllers, and gimbal stabilisers regardless of their input requirements. This versatility makes the receiver suitable for retrofit applications on existing RC models.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design — Measuring just 44.8 × 32 × 11.3 millimetres and weighing only 13 grammes, the FS-SR12 fits seamlessly into tight spaces within RC airframes, chassis enclosures, and equipment pods without compromising model performance or flight characteristics.
  • Wide Input Voltage Range — The receiver accepts input power from 3.5 to 9 volts DC, making it compatible with single-cell LiPo batteries (3.7V nominal), two-cell LiPo packs (7.4V nominal), NiMH battery packs, and regulated power supplies commonly used in RC systems.
  • Online Update Support — Firmware updates are available online, allowing you to enhance receiver performance, add features, and fix any identified issues without hardware replacement, ensuring your investment remains current with the latest improvements.
  • Robust Operating Conditions — The FS-SR12 operates reliably across temperature ranges from -10°C to +60°C and maintains performance in humidity conditions from 20% to 95%, making it suitable for flying during UK winter months, summer heatwaves, and misty conditions near water.
  • Global Certifications — With CE and FCC certifications (FCC ID: 2A2UNSR1200), the FS-SR12 meets regulatory requirements for use throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America, ensuring your RC equipment complies with local radio regulations.

Technical Performance

The FlySky FS-SR12 delivers impressive technical specifications that reflect professional-grade RC receiver engineering. Operating at 2.4GHz with ANT protocol support, the receiver provides fast signal processing with a 4096-point resolution, delivering smooth, precise control input resolution suitable for aerobatic flying, racing, and precision manoeuvres. The working current draws only 70 milliamperes at 5 volts, meaning you can power the receiver from modest battery packs without excessive drain. Maximum transmission power is rated at less than 20dBm EIRP under EU regulations, ensuring regulatory compliance whilst maintaining the advertised 1500+ metre range in open-air conditions. The dual-antenna design with two-way transmission capability represents a significant engineering advantage, as antenna diversity dramatically improves signal reception in real-world flying conditions where model orientation constantly changes. The receiver's compact construction utilises high-quality PCB assembly techniques to achieve excellent reliability despite the tiny form factor. Build quality is evident from the precision manufacturing, with all connection points clearly marked and accessible for soldering servo leads, ESC connections, and battery inputs. The robust design handles the vibration and shock typical of RC flight and driving operations, whilst the sealed housing provides protection against dust ingress without completely waterproofing the unit (care should be taken to avoid direct water submersion). The 13-gramme weight makes this receiver virtually negligible in terms of model balance considerations, allowing designers and pilots to focus on aerodynamic or dynamic optimisation rather than receiver weight distribution.
