Overview
The FlySky FS-CAT01 Height Module is a compact and lightweight altitude sensor designed specifically for RC aircraft and multirotor enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliable height telemetry data. This precision altitude sensor seamlessly integrates with compatible FlySky radio systems, providing real-time pressure and altitude information to enhance your RC flying experience. Whether you're piloting a fixed-wing RC plane, a quadcopter, or any other RC aircraft, accurate altitude measurement is crucial for safe flight operations and performance optimisation. The FS-CAT01 delivers professional-grade altitude sensing in a package so small and light that it won't compromise your aircraft's performance or flight characteristics.
RC Model Shop stocks the FS-CAT01 for UK customers who recognise the importance of telemetry in modern RC flying. This height module works via the i.bus sensor interface, meaning it integrates directly into your existing FlySky ecosystem without requiring additional modifications or complex installation procedures. The sensor feeds live altitude and barometric pressure data to your radio transmitter, giving you complete visibility of your aircraft's performance throughout every flight. For RC enthusiasts who fly competitively, recreationally, or for aerial photography, knowing your exact altitude at any moment is essential for safety, navigation and achieving optimal flight profiles.
With its wide operating altitude range and robust construction, the FS-CAT01 is engineered to perform reliably across the UK's variable weather conditions and temperature ranges. The sensor's compact dimensions and featherweight design mean you can add advanced telemetry capability to almost any RC aircraft without significantly affecting weight distribution or balance. This is the kind of precision instrument that separates casual RC pilots from serious operators who demand professional data logging and real-time flight monitoring.
Key Features
- Wide Altitude Measurement Range — The FS-CAT01 measures altitude from 0 to 8,000 metres, providing coverage for everything from low-level RC aircraft operations to high-altitude flights, ensuring you can monitor your aircraft's height regardless of your flying style or mission profile.
- Barometric Pressure Sensing — Operating across a barometric pressure range of 40 to 100 kPa, the sensor adapts to changing atmospheric conditions and geographical locations, making it reliable whether you're flying at sea level on the UK coast or in elevated terrain across Scotland, Wales or the Peak District.
- i.bus Sensor Interface Compatibility — The FS-CAT01 connects directly via the i.bus/(sens) data port, offering plug-and-play integration with the FlySky FS-i6X radio and FlySky iA6B receiver, eliminating the need for complex wiring or additional adapters.
- Compact and Lightweight Design — Measuring just 31 × 15 × 8.5 millimetres and weighing only 5.3 grams, this height module is exceptionally light and small, allowing you to add telemetry to weight-sensitive RC aircraft such as indoor drones, lightweight EPP foam planes, or competition gliders without measurable impact on performance.
- Reliable Power Supply — The sensor operates safely across a power input range of 4.0 to 8.4 volts, making it compatible with standard RC battery configurations and receiver power systems, ensuring flexible integration into your existing RC setup.
- Robust Temperature and Humidity Tolerance — Rated for operation between 0°C and +60°C with humidity tolerance of 20% to 95%, the FS-CAT01 performs consistently through the full range of UK weather conditions, from cold winter mornings to hot summer afternoons, and handles both dry and damp environmental conditions.
- Professional Telemetry Data — Once paired with your FlySky radio system, the FS-CAT01 provides continuous altitude and pressure telemetry that displays on your transmitter screen, giving you critical flight data that improves safety awareness and enables better flight planning and analysis.
Technical Performance
The FS-CAT01 is engineered as a precision barometric altitude sensor that translates atmospheric pressure changes into accurate height measurements displayed on your FlySky FS-i6X transmitter or logged by compatible receivers like the iA6B. The sensor's barometric measurement technology is industry-standard in RC and drone applications, providing the same altitude accuracy you'd find in commercial unmanned aircraft systems. Operating across the specified 40–100 kPa pressure range equates to altitude coverage from sea level through 8,000 metres, which encompasses all realistic RC aircraft flight operations. The device's power input tolerance of 4.0–8.4 volts ensures compatibility with standard 2S and 3S LiPo receiver batteries commonly used in RC aircraft, as well as 5V regulated systems. The sensor maintains measurement accuracy across the temperature range of 0°C to +60°C, critical for UK flying where morning flights might occur in near-freezing conditions whilst afternoon sessions could reach significantly warmer temperatures. The humidity rating of 20%–95% means the sensor performs reliably in everything from dry winter conditions to the damp, misty conditions frequently encountered during UK outdoor flying sessions. The diminutive form factor and 5.3-gramme weight make the FS-CAT01 suitable for micro and small-scale RC aircraft where every gramme counts towards flight duration and performance. The i.bus interface is a digital data protocol that communicates cleanly with FlySky flight controllers and receivers, ensuring data integrity and real-time telemetry transmission without latency.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the FlySky FS-CAT01 altitude sensor compatible with my RC aircraft setup? — The FS-CAT01 is compatible with FlySky FS-i6X radio transmitters and FlySky iA6B receivers that feature i.bus/(sens) sensor ports. If your RC aircraft is currently using these components, the height module will work seamlessly. Check your transmitter and receiver documentation to confirm i.bus sensor compatibility before purchasing.
- What altitude range can the FS-CAT01 measure? — The sensor measures altitude from ground level (0 metres) to 8,000 metres maximum, which covers all practical RC aircraft flying scenarios. This range is equivalent to barometric pressures between 40 and 100 kPa, providing accurate height data whether you're flying small indoor drones or launching high-altitude RC gliders.
- How much weight will this height module add to my RC aircraft? — At just 5.3 grams, the FS-CAT01 is extraordinarily lightweight and will have negligible impact on most RC aircraft. This makes it ideal for weight-sensitive applications such as foam-wing aircraft, micro drones, and competition gliders where every gramme affects flight performance and battery endurance.
- What power supply does the FS-CAT01 require? — The sensor operates between 4.0 and 8.4 volts, making it compatible with standard 2S LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal) and 3S LiPo batteries (11.1V nominal) with appropriate voltage regulation, as well as 5V receiver power supplies. Your FlySky receiver typically provides the necessary power through the i.bus port when connected.
- Will the altitude sensor work in cold or wet weather? — Yes, the FS-CAT01 is rated for operation between 0°C and +60°C with humidity tolerance of 20%–95%, meaning it performs reliably in the full range of UK weather conditions. You can confidently fly with this sensor during winter mornings, rainy conditions, and variable British weather.
- Is the FS-CAT01 suitable for beginners? — The sensor itself is straightforward to integrate if you already have a compatible FlySky radio system, as it simply plugs into the i.bus/(sens) port. However, altitude sensor integration is generally more relevant to intermediate and advanced RC pilots who actively monitor telemetry data during flight. Beginners can certainly use it, but it's most valuable once you've gained basic flying proficiency.
- How does the FS-CAT01 communicate altitude data to my transmitter? — The sensor uses the i.bus digital protocol to transmit real-time altitude and barometric pressure data through the i.bus/(sens) interface. Your FlySky FS-i6X transmitter will display this information on its screen, and compatible receivers like the iA6B can log the data for analysis after your flight concludes.
- Can I use the FS-CAT01 on multiple aircraft? — Yes, the FS-CAT01 can be transferred between different RC aircraft that use compatible FlySky receivers with i.bus sensor ports. Simply disconnect the sensor from one aircraft and reconnect it to another, making it a versatile addition to your RC fleet.
