Overview
The Fastrax Superflex Silicone Tubing Blue (1 Meter) FAST940B is an essential component for nitro-powered RC cars and trucks across the UK. Whether you're running a high-performance competition buggy, an off-road basher, or a dedicated nitro engine setup, this premium silicone fuel tube delivers the reliability and flexibility that serious RC enthusiasts demand. Designed specifically for fuel delivery systems in nitro RC vehicles, this tubing represents the professional-grade quality that Fastrax is renowned for throughout the RC hobby community.
Silicone fuel tubing is a critical component in any nitro RC car or truck setup, as it carries fuel from your onboard tank directly to the engine's fuel system. The Fastrax Superflex formulation offers superior flexibility compared to standard rubber fuel lines, making it easier to route through tight engine bays and around complex chassis layouts. This flexibility, combined with its proven durability, means you can focus on your driving rather than worrying about fuel line failures or leaks during critical moments of competition or recreational play.
Available in a convenient 1-metre length, this product allows you to cut and prepare your fuel lines exactly as needed for your specific RC model. The bright blue colour makes it easy to identify fuel system components during maintenance and troubleshooting, which is invaluable when you're working on your RC car UK-side or preparing for the next race day at your local club.
Key Features
- Premium Silicone Construction — Made from high-quality silicone material that resists fuel degradation and permeation, ensuring long-term reliability and preventing fuel leaks that could damage your RC car's performance or engine components.
- Superflex Formula — The flexible design allows for easy routing and installation in tight engine bays, reducing the risk of kinks or splits that can interrupt fuel flow to your nitro engine during critical moments of racing or bashing.
- Precise Internal Diameter — The 2.8mm internal diameter is engineered to fit standard nitro RC fuel system fittings and carburettor connections, ensuring reliable connections without leaks or fuel starvation issues.
- External Diameter of 5.5mm — This outer dimension provides the structural integrity needed to withstand fuel pressure and engine vibration whilst remaining flexible enough for routing around engine components and through chassis openings.
- 1 Meter Length — Supplied in a convenient 1-metre pre-cut length, this allows you to measure and cut exactly the amount of fuel tubing you need for your specific RC model or to maintain a ready supply of replacement sections for maintenance and repairs.
- Vibrant Blue Colour — The distinctive blue colouring makes your fuel system components instantly recognisable during maintenance, troubleshooting, and engine bay work, helping you quickly identify fuel lines and avoid confusion with other tubing in your setup.
- Professional-Grade Quality — Fastrax has built a reputation for manufacturing premium RC components trusted by competitive racers and serious hobbyists throughout the UK and beyond.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Superflex Silicone Tubing represents premium fuel delivery engineering designed for the demanding requirements of nitro-powered RC vehicles. The 2.8mm internal diameter (ID) is precisely sized to match the fuel inlet ports found on standard nitro RC carburettors and fuel system components, whilst the 5.5mm outer diameter (OD) provides structural integrity and compatibility with standard fuel line fittings used across most 1/10 and 1/8 scale nitro RC cars and trucks. The silicone formulation is specifically engineered to resist fuel permeation—the gradual loss of fuel through the tube walls—which is a critical concern with inferior rubber tubing that can lead to fuel starvation during long races or bashing sessions. The Superflex characteristics mean this tubing maintains flexibility across a wide temperature range, from cool UK winters to the heat generated by high-performance nitro engines at full throttle. Unlike standard vinyl or rubber fuel lines that can become brittle over time and crack under thermal stress, this premium silicone tubing maintains its elasticity and reliability throughout its service life. For competitive racers and serious RC enthusiasts, proper fuel delivery is non-negotiable, as any interruption in fuel flow can mean the difference between a winning performance and a DNF (Did Not Finish) on the track or at the bash spot.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between silicone and rubber fuel tubing for RC cars? — Silicone tubing, like this Fastrax Superflex product, is superior to standard rubber fuel lines in several important ways. Silicone has much lower permeation rates, meaning fuel doesn't gradually seep through the tube walls over time. Silicone also maintains its flexibility across a wider temperature range, from cold UK winter conditions to the extreme heat of a running nitro engine. Rubber tubing tends to become brittle and crack when exposed to repeated thermal cycling and UV light exposure, whereas silicone resists these degradation mechanisms far more effectively. For these reasons, serious nitro RC racers and enthusiasts across the UK specify silicone fuel tubing exclusively.
- Is this suitable for all nitro RC cars and trucks? — The 2.8mm inner diameter and 5.5mm outer diameter of this Fastrax tubing is compatible with the vast majority of standard 1/10 and 1/8 scale nitro RC vehicles. However, you should verify that your specific RC car model uses this standard fuel system size. Some very small-scale models or specialist competition vehicles may use different tubing dimensions, so it's worth checking your model's documentation or contacting the manufacturer to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- How long will one metre of fuel tubing last? — One metre provides more than enough length for most single RC vehicle fuel systems, with typical fuel line runs requiring only 30-60 centimetres depending on your specific tank and engine placement. This means one metre of tubing can supply fuel lines for multiple vehicles or provide plenty of extra stock for repairs and replacements. Silicone fuel tubing gradually degrades over time due to chemical exposure to fuel and thermal cycling, so many RC enthusiasts keep spare tubing on hand for quick field repairs during race days or bashing sessions.
- Does the blue colour affect fuel system performance? — No, the blue colour is purely aesthetic and helps with identification during maintenance and troubleshooting. It has no effect on the fuel system's performance or fuel delivery characteristics. The colour coding simply makes it easier to quickly spot fuel lines in your engine bay and distinguish them from other tubing or components.
- Can I use this tubing for fuel tank breather lines as well? — Yes, this tubing is suitable for both main fuel delivery lines and fuel tank breather lines. The 2.8mm inner diameter is perfect for standard breather line fittings found on most RC nitro fuel tanks. Using silicone tubing throughout your entire fuel system ensures consistent quality and reliability across all fuel-related components.
- How do I install this fuel tubing? — Simply measure the distance from your fuel tank to your carburettor (or to your fuel line fitting points), add a small amount extra for routing and bends, and cut the tubing to length using a sharp knife or dedicated fuel line cutter. Slide the tubing onto the fuel fitting until it seats firmly, then secure it with fuel line clamps, crimps, or O-ring style retainers. Make sure there are no kinks or sharp bends in the tubing, as these can restrict fuel flow. Always check for leaks before running your engine, and ensure the tubing is securely fastened to prevent fuel loss during operation.
