Overview

The Fastrax E-Clip Tool FAST662 is an essential accessory for any serious RC enthusiast in the UK who works with e-clips on their RC models. Whether you're maintaining a Traxxas RC car, an ARRMA RC truck, or any other RC vehicle that uses e-clips for securing components, this aluminium tool transforms what can be a frustrating task into a quick and straightforward operation. E-clips, also known as retaining rings or snap rings, are commonly found on RC car axles, drive shafts, and suspension components, making this tool invaluable for anyone who regularly services their RC hobby gear.

Designed by Fastrax, a trusted manufacturer of RC accessories and upgrades, this e-clip tool addresses one of the most common pain points in RC model maintenance. Rather than wrestling with pliers or screwdrivers to remove and install e-clips, this purpose-built tool provides a secure grip and controlled fitting action that protects both the e-clips and your RC car components from damage. The tool's clever design means you can work with confidence, knowing that you're using the right tool for the job, not just improvising with whatever's in your toolbox.

Available now in the UK from RC Model Shop, the Fastrax E-Clip Tool is compact, lightweight, and built to last through countless maintenance sessions on your RC drift cars, crawlers, buggies, and off-road vehicles. This is one of those workshop essentials that every RC enthusiast should keep within arm's reach of their workbench.

Key Features

  • Four-Size Versatility — This single tool accommodates e-clips in four different sizes: 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm, eliminating the need to purchase multiple specialist tools and ensuring you're always prepared for any e-clip fitting task on your RC car collection.
  • Aluminium Construction — Built from high-quality aluminium, the tool is lightweight yet durable, designed to withstand repeated use without losing its shape or grip characteristics, making it ideal for regular maintenance on your RC models.
  • Secure and Easy Fitting — The specially engineered design provides a secure grip on e-clips and enables controlled, one-handed operation, significantly reducing the risk of dropping small components or damaging your RC car's delicate parts during assembly and disassembly.
  • Professional Quality — This is not a generic tool; it's specifically engineered for e-clip work, meaning you get the precise fit and control needed for the intricate work that RC car maintenance demands, whether you're a weekend basher or a competition racer.
  • Compact and Portable — Small enough to fit in your RC tool bag or workshop drawer, yet substantial enough to handle the job properly, making it perfect for both home workshops and track-side maintenance on your RC hobby pursuits.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax E-Clip Tool represents smart engineering applied to a common RC maintenance challenge. Constructed from aluminium for an optimal balance of strength and weight, the tool features four precision-sized working ends, each calibrated to handle e-clips of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm diameters. This comprehensive size range covers the vast majority of e-clip applications found on modern RC cars, from small-scale 1/24 vehicles through to larger 1/8 scale buggies and trucks. The aluminium construction provides excellent durability; while aluminium is lighter than steel, it has sufficient hardness to withstand repeated use without deforming around the e-clip grooves. The engineering focuses on providing a positive grip that prevents the e-clip from slipping during removal and installation, a common frustration when using improvised tools like pliers or flat-head screwdrivers. The tool's design enables controlled, lever-based action that reduces hand fatigue and makes precise positioning possible, which is particularly important when working with small components on valuable RC models.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need a dedicated e-clip tool instead of using pliers? — Using pliers or improvised tools on e-clips risks damaging the e-clip's retention grooves, deforming the clip itself, or worse, losing the small component during the fitting process. A dedicated e-clip tool like this one provides the correct grip angle and pressure distribution to ensure the e-clip is removed and fitted safely without damage to either the clip or your RC car's components. This is especially important on valuable RC models where replacing damaged parts can be expensive.
  • What size e-clips does this tool fit? — The Fastrax E-Clip Tool accommodates four different sizes: 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm e-clips. This covers the vast majority of e-clips found on RC cars, crawlers, buggies, and trucks across different manufacturers and scales.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. In fact, beginners benefit more from this tool than experienced builders because it eliminates the frustration of working with e-clips using the wrong tools. If you're new to RC car maintenance and assembly, having the right tools from the start builds good habits and prevents accidental damage to your models. Any RC enthusiast who regularly maintains, repairs, or builds RC cars will find this tool invaluable.
  • How many e-clips can I fit with this tool before it wears out? — The aluminium construction is designed for repeated use across hundreds of e-clip fittings. Proper use of the tool means it should outlast many of your RC cars. The key is to use the correct size working end for your e-clip and avoid forcing it, which the tool's design actively discourages.
  • Can I use this tool on all RC car brands? — Yes. E-clips are a universal component used across all major RC manufacturers including Traxxas, ARRMA, Losi, FTX, Team Associated, Tamiya, HPI, Mugen, and others. Whether you run Traxxas RC trucks, ARRMA RC buggies, or any other brand, this tool will work on their e-clips as long as they fall within the 3mm to 6mm size range.
  • What makes this better than a multi-tool with an e-clip function? — Dedicated purpose-built tools always outperform multi-tools in their specific function. This Fastrax E-Clip Tool is engineered specifically for e-clip work, meaning the grip, leverage, and working geometry are optimised for this single task. You get better control, less hand fatigue, and significantly reduced risk of damaging your valuable RC components.
