Key Features
- 5.5mm Driver for M3 Nuts — The socket is specifically sized to fit M3 metric nuts securely, ensuring you have the correct tool for fasteners commonly found across most RC vehicles, from crawler trucks to touring cars and everything in between.
- Hardened Steel Driver — The driver element is manufactured from hardened steel, providing superior durability and resistance to wear even when working with stubborn or overtightened fasteners that are common in high-performance RC builds.
- Machined Lightweight Aluminium Handle — The handle is precision machined from aluminium alloy and then hard anodised, creating a lightweight yet robust construction that won't fatigue your hand during extended maintenance sessions.
- Knurled Finish for Extra Grip — The handle features a knurled (textured) finish that provides exceptional grip and control, ensuring you can apply positive torque to fasteners without the tool slipping, even when your hands are slightly damp or oily from working on your RC car.
- Replaceable Bits — Unlike fixed-head drivers, this tool features replaceable bits, meaning you can maintain functionality indefinitely by simply replacing the worn driver element rather than discarding the entire tool.
- Lightweight Design with Hollow Handle — The hollow handle construction minimises weight while maintaining structural integrity, making this tool comfortable to use for extended periods without hand fatigue or strain.
- Hard Anodised Finish — The anodised coating provides protection against corrosion and wear, ensuring the tool maintains its appearance and functionality even with regular use in the workshop or at the track.
- Size Stamped on Handle — The 5.5mm size is clearly stamped directly on the handle, making identification instant and preventing confusion if you have multiple nut drivers in your toolkit.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Pro Nut Driver represents professional-grade tooling specifically engineered for RC vehicle maintenance. The hardened steel driver core ensures exceptional durability when tightening or loosening M3 fasteners that are frequently encountered on RC cars and trucks throughout the UK market. The combination of machined aluminium and hard anodising creates a tool that balances strength with minimal weight — essential characteristics for tools that must withstand repeated use without contributing unnecessary heft to your toolkit. The knurled finish on the handle isn't merely decorative; it's a functional design element that provides genuine ergonomic benefits, allowing you to maintain a secure grip and apply the necessary torque to fasteners with confidence and control. The hollow handle design further reduces weight without compromising strength, making extended use comfortable and practical. The replaceable bits feature means this tool offers exceptional value for money, as you can continue using the handle indefinitely simply by replacing the working end when it eventually wears. This engineering approach is typical of professional-grade RC tools designed for serious enthusiasts and competitive racers who demand reliability and longevity from their equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which RC cars use M3 nuts that this driver fits? — Many popular RC vehicles use M3 fasteners, including Tamiya models, Team Associated vehicles, Mugen option parts, Axial Racing crawlers, and various other brands. If you're unsure whether your specific RC car uses M3 fasteners, check your vehicle's manual or parts diagram, or contact our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop.
- Can I use this nut driver on my RC car if I'm a complete beginner? — Absolutely. This tool is perfect for beginners because it's designed to be intuitive and easy to use. The knurled handle provides excellent grip control, making it easier to apply the right amount of torque without overtightening fasteners. The clear size marking on the handle means you'll always have the correct tool for M3 nuts.
- What makes this different from basic nut drivers? — The Fastrax Pro Nut Driver combines several professional features that basic tools lack. The hardened steel driver is more durable, the machined and anodised aluminium handle is lighter and more comfortable, the knurled finish provides superior grip, and the replaceable bits design means you can maintain the tool indefinitely. These features combine to create a tool that's more reliable, more comfortable and better value over time than cheaper alternatives.
- Is the cup size suitable for reaching nuts that are deep on a bolt? — The driver features a smaller cup design compared to some alternatives, which offers both advantages and considerations. The benefit is that nuts won't get lost inside the cup during work, reducing frustration and the risk of losing small fasteners. The trade-off is that if you need to reach a nut that sits far down a long bolt, the smaller cup may not reach as far as larger designs. This is a deliberate engineering choice that prioritises practical workshop use over edge cases.
- Are the bits really replaceable? — Yes, the driver bits are replaceable, meaning you can extend the life of this tool indefinitely. When your hardened steel driver eventually wears after extended use, you can simply replace the worn bit rather than discarding the entire tool. This makes it an excellent long-term investment for serious RC enthusiasts.
