Overview
The Fastrax Special Thread Lock (FAST62) is an essential maintenance product for any RC car enthusiast in the UK. Whether you run a Traxxas RC monster truck, an ARRMA 4x4, a Losi buggy, or any other RC vehicle, thread lock is a critical preventative maintenance tool that every basher and racer should have in their toolkit. This specialist formula from Fastrax is specifically engineered to prevent fasteners from loosening due to vibration during high-speed running, jumps, crashes and rough terrain driving that puts constant stress on every bolt and screw in your RC car.
Thread lock is particularly important for RC hobbyists because the constant vibration, impacts and cornering forces experienced during off-road running, on-road racing, crawling and bashing will naturally cause screws, bolts and fasteners to gradually work themselves loose over time. Without proper thread locking compound, you risk losing critical fasteners mid-run, which can lead to mechanical failure, loss of control, or damage to expensive RC components. The Fastrax CML Racing Special Thread Lock provides a reliable, proven solution that keeps your RC car running safely and smoothly, whether you're a weekend basher enjoying casual runs or a competitive racer preparing for the next event.
This product is available in either green or blue formula, and comes ready to use straight from the bottle. The Fastrax brand is trusted throughout the RC hobby community for quality accessories and maintenance products, making this thread lock an ideal choice for RC enthusiasts across the United Kingdom who demand reliability and peace of mind when running their vehicles.
Key Features
- Vibration-Resistant Formula — The special thread lock formula is specifically designed to withstand the extreme vibration generated by high-speed RC driving, preventing fasteners from gradually loosening during use and eliminating the risk of screws working their way out during intense runs or competition.
- CML Racing Grade — This is Fastrax's CML Racing specification thread lock, which means it has been developed and tested to meet the demands of competitive racing environments where reliability is absolutely critical and fastener security directly impacts performance and safety.
- Available in Multiple Colours — The product may be supplied in either green or blue formula, allowing you to differentiate between different thread lock applications on your RC car if you choose to use multiple types of locking compounds for different fastener purposes.
- Easy Application — The thread lock comes in a convenient bottle format that allows for precise application directly to fastener threads, making it simple to use on everything from servo mounting bolts to differential screws and suspension components.
- Brand Trust — Fastrax is a recognised and respected manufacturer within the RC hobby, known for producing quality parts and accessories that are used by hobbyists and professionals throughout the UK RC community.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Special Thread Lock FAST62 is engineered to provide reliable fastener security across all types of RC vehicles and applications. Thread lock compounds work by filling the microscopic gaps between bolt threads and the threaded hole, creating a mechanical lock that resists loosening from vibration and impact. The CML Racing specification indicates this product has been formulated to meet the demands of competitive racing, where fastener failure could result in lost races or damaged vehicles. This thread lock is suitable for use on all standard RC fasteners including hex socket head cap screws, socket head cap screws, and standard threaded bolts found in modern RC cars. The formula is compatible with steel, aluminium and titanium fasteners commonly used throughout RC vehicles, and works effectively in both indoor and outdoor environments across the UK's variable weather conditions. Application is straightforward: simply apply a small amount directly to the threads of the fastener before installation, and the compound will cure to create a permanent or semi-permanent lock depending on the specific formulation. Unlike some maintenance products, thread lock requires no special equipment or tools to apply, making it accessible to all RC enthusiasts from beginners learning RC car basics to experienced racers maintaining competition-grade vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is thread lock and why do I need it for my RC car? — Thread lock is a chemical compound that prevents fasteners from loosening due to vibration. In RC cars, constant jumping, cornering, acceleration and rough terrain cause bolts and screws to vibrate and gradually work themselves loose, potentially leading to mechanical failure. Thread lock secures fasteners permanently, protecting your RC vehicle and ensuring safe, reliable operation whether you're bashing casually or racing competitively.
- Can I use this thread lock on all my RC fasteners? — The Fastrax Special Thread Lock is suitable for use on standard RC fasteners including those found in suspension, drivetrain, servo mounts, and body panels. However, always check the manufacturer's recommendations for your specific RC car model, particularly for sensitive electronics or servo connections where some manufacturers may specify thread lock type or advise against its use.
- Will thread lock permanently lock my fasteners? — The CML Racing specification of this thread lock provides a secure, permanent lock on fasteners. Once cured, the fasteners are locked in place and cannot be removed without breaking the bond. If you need to remove fasteners in future, they can be removed with appropriate tools, though it may require more force than normal bolts.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, thread lock is suitable for all experience levels. Beginners benefit from using it because it provides protection against fastener loosening without requiring any special tools or knowledge. Application is as simple as applying a small drop to threads before installation. Any RC enthusiast, from those just discovering RC cars for the first time to experienced weekend bashers, can safely use this product.
- What is the difference between green and blue thread lock? — The Fastrax Special Thread Lock may be supplied in either green or blue formula. Both provide vibration resistance and fastener security; the colour difference is primarily for visual identification if you choose to use multiple thread lock types on your RC car for different applications or fastener sizes.
- How long does thread lock take to cure? — Whilst specific cure times are not detailed in the product specifications, thread lock compounds typically require a period of time to cure before fasteners are fully locked. Always allow adequate curing time before running your RC car after applying thread lock to fasteners.
