Overview
The Fastrax Team Tool Metric/Screwdriver Set (6 pieces) FAST615 is an essential toolkit for any serious RC enthusiast working on RC cars, RC trucks, and RC buggies in the UK and beyond. Whether you're maintaining a brushless RC vehicle, tuning a competition rig, or simply performing routine maintenance on your RC hobby models, this comprehensive tool set provides everything you need to keep your RC equipment in peak condition. The set combines precision engineering with practical design, making it equally suitable for beginners discovering the world of RC for the first time and experienced competitors who demand reliability and quality from their tools.
Fastrax has established itself as a trusted name in RC tooling, and this metric tool set demonstrates exactly why. The combination of hex drivers and screwdrivers covers the most common fastener sizes used across modern RC vehicles, from entry-level ready-to-run models to high-performance competition builds. The carefully selected 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm hex wrenches, combined with both Phillips and slotted screwdrivers, means you'll have the right tool for virtually any adjustment or repair task that comes your way.
What truly sets this tool set apart is the attention to detail in its construction. Each tool features ground steel hard tips and shafts engineered for durability and precision, ensuring that fasteners are gripped securely without stripping or damage—a critical consideration when working with expensive RC components and delicate aluminium chassis parts.
Key Features
- Ground Steel Hard Tips and Shafts — The precision-ground steel construction ensures that each tool maintains its shape and grip integrity through thousands of adjustments and repairs, preventing stripped fasteners and damaged screw heads that can compromise your RC models.
- Extra Long Machined Hex Bit — The extended length of the hex drivers provides superior access to fasteners in confined spaces within RC chassis and engine bays, allowing you to reach bolts that would be inaccessible with standard-length tools, saving time and frustration during maintenance.
- Machined Lightweight Aluminium Handle with Knurled Finish — The hollow aluminium construction reduces weight without sacrificing durability, whilst the knurled finish provides excellent grip even during extended working sessions or when your hands are slightly damp or oily from handling RC components.
- Replaceable Bits — Should any hex bit or screwdriver tip become worn or damaged through intensive use, you can replace individual bits rather than discarding the entire tool, making this a genuinely economical investment that will serve you for years.
- Machine Cut Identification Rings on Handle — Each tool is precisely marked with machined identification rings that clearly indicate the size of the hex wrench or screwdriver type, eliminating guesswork during fast-paced pit sessions or workshop maintenance and ensuring you always grab the correct tool for the job.
- Lightweight Design with Hollow Handle — The thoughtful hollow handle design keeps the overall weight minimal, reducing fatigue during extended use whilst maintaining the structural integrity and durability required for serious RC work.
Technical Performance
This metric tool set represents a significant upgrade over cheap, stamped-steel alternatives commonly found in budget RC accessory ranges. The ground steel construction of both the hex bits and screwdriver tips ensures precision tolerances that prevent fastener damage—an essential consideration when working with expensive RC components worth hundreds or even thousands of pounds. The machined aluminium handles are anodised for corrosion resistance, protecting the tools from the chemical exposure inevitable when working on nitro-powered RC engines or handling fuel and oils. The knurled finish isn't merely aesthetic; it provides measurable grip improvement that becomes invaluable when you're making critical suspension adjustments or removing fasteners from seized components. Each hex size included (1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm) has been selected based on extensive analysis of fastener specifications across the most popular RC vehicle platforms, from small-scale crawlers to large 1/8 scale buggies and truggies. The combination of Phillips and slotted screwdrivers covers the majority of screw types encountered in modern RC vehicles, including electronic components, body clips, and chassis assembly fasteners. The extended reach of the hex bits addresses a genuine pain point in RC maintenance: accessing bolts buried deep within chassis cavities or engine bays on competition-grade RC models.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Fastrax Team Tool Set suitable for beginners learning RC vehicle maintenance? — Absolutely. This set covers the most common fastener sizes used in entry-level and intermediate RC models, making it perfect for anyone new to the hobby who wants to learn basic maintenance and setup procedures. The clearly marked handle rings mean beginners can quickly identify the correct tool size without prior experience.
- What types of RC vehicles can I maintain with this metric tool set? — This set works with virtually all modern RC vehicles, including RC buggies, RC trucks, RC crawlers, RC truggies, and specialist models. The metric sizing (1.5mm through 3mm) matches the fastener specifications on most contemporary RC platforms, from budget ready-to-run models to high-end competition builds.
- Can I replace individual bits if they become damaged? — Yes, one of the key advantages of this tool set is the replaceable bits design. Rather than discarding the entire tool if a hex bit or screwdriver tip becomes worn or stripped through intensive use, you can purchase replacement bits separately, making this a genuinely cost-effective long-term investment.
- Why is the extra-long hex bit design important for RC maintenance? — RC chassis and engine bays often feature tightly packed components with fasteners buried deep within cavities. The extended-length hex bits included in this set allow you to reach these recessed bolts without having to partially disassemble surrounding components, saving considerable time during pit sessions or routine maintenance.
- How does the knurled handle finish improve usability? — The knurled finish creates micro-grip patterns on the aluminium handle surface, providing superior traction and control even when your hands are slightly wet, oily, or cold. This translates to more precise control when making critical adjustments and reduced hand fatigue during extended maintenance sessions.
- What makes ground steel tips superior to stamped alternatives? — Ground steel tips are precision-manufactured to exact tolerances, ensuring consistent, tight engagement with fastener slots and hex cavities. This prevents the cam-out and slipping that damages expensive fasteners on your RC vehicles. Stamped tools inevitably have minor imprecisions that lead to fastener damage.
