Overview

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 5000CST is a premium differential lubricant engineered for competitive RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision tuning and consistent performance. This 5000 centiStoke formulation sits in the middle of Fastrax's extensive oil range, making it an ideal choice for drivers seeking balanced handling characteristics in a wide variety of track conditions. Whether you're running a 1/10 scale buggy, touring car, or competition-grade off-road vehicle, this silicone-based diff oil delivers the viscosity control needed to fine-tune your RC car's cornering behaviour and differential lock-up characteristics.

Developed through rigorous testing over 12 months by some of Europe's leading RC drivers, this oil has been proven in conditions ranging from the scorching heat of Spain to the wet and unpredictable climate of the UK. The development process involved extensive real-world testing with professional competitors who specifically praised the consistency and smooth progression through Fastrax's complete oil range. This means you're not just buying a lubricant – you're investing in a product refined at the highest levels of competitive RC racing. The 5000CST viscosity provides an excellent middle ground for drivers who need responsive handling without sacrificing differential control, making it suitable for everything from casual weekend bashers to serious racers preparing for competition.

What truly sets this diff oil apart is the easy-pour lid design that transforms oil changes from a frustrating chore into a quick, mess-free job. When you're in the middle of a competition season or testing setups between heats, the ability to change your diff oil quickly and cleanly is invaluable. Combined with the extensive range of viscosity options available from Fastrax, the 5000CST allows you to dial in your RC car's handling precisely, giving you genuine competitive advantage on the track.

Key Features

  • Pure Silicone Formulation — Fastrax's silicone-based construction provides superior stability across a wide temperature range, ensuring your differential oil maintains consistent viscosity whether you're racing in hot conditions or the cooler UK climate, which is essential for maintaining predictable handling characteristics throughout your driving session.
  • 5000 Centistoke Viscosity Rating — This mid-range thickness is ideal for drivers seeking balanced differential lock-up and traction control, providing responsive cornering without over-locking the diff, making it suitable for both dry and slightly damp track conditions and a variety of RC vehicle types.
  • Rigorously Tested by Professional Drivers — Developed through 12 months of intensive testing by some of Europe's top competitive RC drivers, this oil has been proven in extreme conditions from Spanish heat to UK rainfall, guaranteeing real-world reliability and performance that you can trust in competition.
  • Exceptional Consistency Across the Range — Users and professional testers have consistently noted that Fastrax oils offer unprecedented consistency and smooth progression between viscosity grades, allowing you to make precise handling adjustments without erratic changes in differential behaviour.
  • Easy-Pour Lid Design — The thoughtfully engineered bottle cap eliminates the mess and waste associated with traditional diff oil bottles, allowing you to change your oil quickly between heats or test sessions without spilling product or getting your hands covered in silicone.
  • 50ml Bottle Size — The convenient 50ml capacity is perfectly sized for typical RC car differential gearbox fills, reducing waste whilst ensuring you always have fresh oil on hand for maintenance, setup changes, or emergency top-ups during competition.
  • Extensive Range Available — Fastrax offers an unparalleled selection of viscosity options from ultra-light to extremely heavy, enabling serious RC racers to dial in their exact setup requirements and experiment with different oil weights to optimise their vehicle's handling characteristics.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 5000CST delivers exceptional performance through its carefully formulated silicone base that provides superior thermal stability compared to mineral oils. At 5000 centistokes, this oil strikes an optimal balance for the majority of RC car applications, offering sufficient viscosity to control differential lock-up and provide traction during aggressive cornering, whilst remaining fluid enough to ensure smooth power delivery and responsive handling. The silicone formulation is particularly advantageous for UK-based RC enthusiasts because it maintains consistent performance across the wide temperature variations experienced in British racing conditions – from cool, damp spring mornings to warm summer afternoons. The oil has been validated through competitive testing in multiple climate zones, demonstrating that its viscosity characteristics remain stable and predictable regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations. The 50ml bottle size ensures minimal product waste whilst providing sufficient volume for a complete differential fill in typical 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC vehicles. Quality testing by professional racers confirmed that this oil does not become runny or degrade even after extended use in demanding conditions, maintaining its protective properties and viscosity stability over months of continuous competitive use. The superior consistency compared to other brands on the UK market means less variation between oil changes, making setup tuning more reliable and repeatable – a crucial factor for competitive drivers seeking to extract lap time and consistency from their vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity rating should I choose for my RC car? — The 5000CST rating is a versatile middle-ground option suitable for most RC cars and track conditions. Lighter oils (1000-3000CST) provide faster, more responsive handling and work better in very low-traction conditions or for drivers preferring high-speed cornering. Heavier oils (10000CST and above) offer more differential lock-up, providing better traction and control for drivers who prefer a planted, stable feel. The 5000CST is ideal if you're unsure or want a balanced setup that works across varied conditions typical in UK RC racing.
  • How often should I change my diff oil? — This depends on your usage intensity. Casual weekend bashers might change oil every few months, whilst competitive racers often change oil weekly or even between heats to maintain optimal differential performance. Regular inspection is recommended – if the oil appears thin or contaminated with dirt and debris, it's time for a change. Fastrax's easy-pour lid makes frequent changes practical, so you can adjust your setup without spending excessive time on maintenance.
  • Is Fastrax silicone diff oil suitable for all RC vehicles? — Yes, Fastrax silicone diff oil is compatible with any RC car, buggy, truck, or crawler that uses a gearbox-based differential, including touring cars, buggies, truggies, trucks, and short-course vehicles. The extensive range of viscosity options means you can find the perfect weight for your specific vehicle type and driving style.
  • Why should I choose Fastrax over other diff oil brands? — Fastrax oils stand out because they were developed through 12 months of rigorous testing by professional European racers in real-world conditions ranging from extreme heat to wet UK weather. Users report exceptional consistency across the range with smooth progression between viscosity grades, superior stability across temperature variations, and a formulation that maintains its properties even after months of hard use. The easy-pour lid design and competitive pricing make Fastrax excellent value compared to premium alternatives on the UK market.
  • Will this diff oil work in cold UK weather? — Yes, the silicone formulation was specifically tested in UK conditions and maintains consistent viscosity even in cool, damp weather typical of British racing. This thermal stability is a key advantage of silicone oils over traditional mineral-based formulations, ensuring your differential lock-up characteristics remain predictable regardless of season or weather conditions.
  • Can I mix different Fastrax oil viscosities? — Whilst it's technically possible, it's not recommended for competitive use because it makes your setup less repeatable and predictable. Instead, choose the single viscosity grade that best suits your vehicle and conditions, or experiment with different weights across different sessions to determine which viscosity provides the optimal handling balance for your driving style and track conditions.
