Overview
The FASTRAX Tyre Hole Punch Tool (FAST605) is an essential accessory for any serious RC enthusiast in the UK who wants to properly prepare their RC tyres for competition or recreational use. This precision tool allows you to quickly and accurately add vent holes to your RC car or truck tyres when mounting them onto your wheels. Whether you're running a brushless RC buggy, a 4WD monster truck, or any other RC vehicle type, having properly vented tyres is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of your tyre inserts.
When building your wheel and tyre combination for your RC model, vent holes are an absolute necessity. These holes serve multiple critical functions in the operation of your RC vehicle. While some wheel designs feature built-in vent holes, many modern RC enthusiasts prefer the alternative approach of drilling the holes directly into the tyre itself, and this is where the FASTRAX punch becomes invaluable. Rather than spending time with drills, punches, or other improvised tools that can damage your expensive tyres, this purpose-built punch tool delivers clean, precise holes every single time.
The FASTRAX Tyre Hole Punch Tool is particularly useful when you're running your RC model in wet conditions. By having properly positioned vent holes in your tyres, water and moisture can exit the tyre through centrifugal force as your wheels spin, preventing the water from saturating the foam insert inside the tyre. This moisture management is critical because water saturation can lead to permanent damage to your tyre insert, compromising the handling characteristics of your RC car and potentially ruining an expensive component. This tool pays for itself many times over by helping you protect your investment and maintain consistent performance across different weather conditions and terrain types.
Key Features
- Purpose-designed vent hole punch — This tool is specifically engineered to punch clean vent holes in RC tyres, eliminating the need for improvised drilling methods that can split or damage your tyres. The punch creates precise holes that meet the exact requirements of RC competition and recreational standards.
- Protects tyre inserts in wet conditions — By allowing water to exit the tyre through centrifugal force rather than saturating the foam insert, this tool helps extend the lifespan of your expensive tyre inserts and maintains consistent handling in rain or wet terrain.
- Compatible with all RC tyre types — Whether you're running off-road RC buggy tyres, monster truck tyres, on-road racing slicks, or any other RC vehicle tyre, this punch tool works with all standard RC tyre formats used in the UK RC hobby.
- Easy one-punch operation — Simply position the tool on your tyre where you need the vent hole and punch. The straightforward operation means you can prepare multiple tyres quickly and consistently without requiring special skills or experience.
- Affordable essential accessory — At under £13, this is one of the most cost-effective tools you can add to your RC toolkit, yet it delivers professional-quality results that rival expensive drilling methods.
- Ideal for race preparation — Competition RC drivers rely on tools like this to ensure their builds meet all technical regulations and perform optimally. Having clean, properly positioned vent holes is often a requirement in RC racing events across the UK.
Technical Performance
The FASTRAX Tyre Hole Punch Tool represents a thoughtfully engineered solution to one of the fundamental requirements of RC tyre preparation. Built to Fastrax's reputation for quality RC accessories and tools, this punch is manufactured to create consistent, clean holes in RC tyres without splitting, cracking, or tearing the rubber. The tool has been designed specifically with the dimensions and durability of RC tyres in mind, ensuring that the punch diameter and force application are calibrated perfectly for this application. Unlike general-purpose hole punches that are too crude or too powerful for delicate RC tyres, this specialist tool delivers the precise control needed to protect your expensive tyre investment whilst achieving the functional vent holes required for optimal RC performance. The engineering ensures reliability across hundreds of uses, making it a permanent addition to any serious RC enthusiast's toolkit in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why do RC tyres need vent holes? — RC tyres contain foam inserts that can absorb moisture and water, especially when you're running your RC car in wet conditions or on damp terrain. Vent holes allow water to escape from inside the tyre through centrifugal force as the wheels spin, preventing the foam insert from becoming saturated and damaged. Without proper venting, your tyre inserts will deteriorate rapidly, compromising the handling and performance of your RC vehicle.
- Can I drill vent holes instead of using this punch? — While it's technically possible to drill vent holes, it's far more likely to result in splitting or cracking your expensive RC tyres. A rotating drill bit can easily catch and tear the rubber, especially on thin-walled RC racing tyres. The FASTRAX punch delivers a clean, controlled punch motion that creates a precise hole without the risk of tyre damage. It's faster, safer, and produces better results than drilling.
- Do all RC wheels have built-in vent holes? — Many modern RC wheels do feature vent holes, but not all of them. Some wheel designs, particularly some racing wheels and specialty designs, require you to add vent holes to the tyre itself. Having this punch tool ensures you can always add vent holes regardless of your wheel choice, giving you complete flexibility in your RC setup.
- Is this tool suitable for all RC vehicle types? — Yes, the FASTRAX Tyre Hole Punch Tool works with all standard RC tyres used in RC buggies, monster trucks, short course trucks, truggies, crawlers, and other RC vehicles. Whether you're running 1/10 scale, 1/8 scale, or other popular RC scales, this punch is compatible with the tyre formats used in these vehicles.
- How many holes can I punch with this tool? — This is a mechanical punch tool with no consumable parts, so it will last for hundreds of uses. You can punch vent holes in countless tyres without the tool wearing out, making it an excellent long-term investment for any RC enthusiast.
- Do I need any special skills to use this tool? — No, the FASTRAX punch is designed for simplicity. Simply position it on your tyre at the desired location and punch. There's no special technique required, making it accessible to beginners and experienced RC hobbyists alike.
