Overview

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 65Wt is a professional-grade shock and differential oil designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive drivers across the UK. Whether you're running a high-performance RC car on track, tackling off-road terrain, or fine-tuning your RC buggy for competition, this 65-weight silicone oil delivers the consistency and performance that top European drivers demand. This is not a beginner's oil — this is the choice of winners who understand that suspension tuning can make the difference between first place and the podium.

Developed over 12 months of rigorous testing by some of Europe's leading drivers, the Fastrax Racing range has been proven in extreme conditions ranging from the scorching heat of Spain to the wet, unpredictable weather of the UK. This comprehensive testing regime ensures that whether you're driving in summer sunshine or autumn rain, your RC car's suspension will perform consistently and predictably. The drivers involved in development were unanimous in their praise, commenting that they have never encountered oils offering as much consistency and smooth progression through the weight range as these new Fastrax formulations. For anyone serious about RC racing or competitive driving in the UK, this is the oil that separates champions from the rest.

Unlike generic oils that perform adequately in narrow temperature ranges, Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 65Wt maintains its viscosity and damping characteristics across a wide spectrum of conditions. The extensive range of weight options available means you can dial in the perfect suspension setup for your specific RC car, track conditions, and driving style. The innovative easy-pour lid makes changing oil quick and straightforward, transforming what can otherwise be a messy and time-consuming job into a simple five-minute task. When you're preparing your RC vehicle for the next race meeting, you want to spend your time on setup and driving practice, not wrestling with oil bottles.

Key Features

  • Professional-Grade Silicone Formulation — This is pure silicone oil, not a synthetic blend or mineral oil substitute, which means it delivers superior consistency and predictable damping characteristics across a wide temperature range, giving competitive drivers the confidence they need to push their RC cars to the limit.
  • 65-Weight Specification — The 65Wt rating places this oil in the medium-weight category, making it ideal for general-purpose use across various RC applications including shock dampers and differentials, whilst remaining light enough for responsive handling in most UK weather conditions.
  • Competition-Tested Formula — Developed and proven by Europe's leading RC drivers over 12 months of intensive testing, this oil has been validated in extreme heat, wet conditions, and everything in between, ensuring consistent performance when it matters most.
  • Exceptional Consistency and Progression — Drivers consistently report that the Fastrax Racing oil range offers superior consistency compared to alternative brands, with smooth progression between different weights, allowing you to fine-tune your suspension setup with confidence and precision.
  • Wide Temperature Performance Range — Unlike oils that thin out in heat or thicken in cold, this pure silicone formulation maintains stable viscosity from the heat of Spanish summer tracks to the damp conditions typical of UK racing venues, delivering predictable handling in all seasons.
  • Easy-Pour Lid Design — The thoughtfully engineered lid makes pouring and application straightforward and mess-free, transforming oil changes from a frustrating chore into a quick, simple task that takes moments rather than minutes.
  • Ideal for Shock Dampers and Differentials — This versatile oil is equally at home in shock absorber assemblies and differential housings, making it the single product you need for most RC suspension tuning requirements on vehicles ranging from competitive buggies to short-course trucks.

Technical Performance

As a pure silicone oil with a 65-weight rating, this product delivers the viscosity characteristics that discerning RC competitors rely upon for precise suspension tuning. The 65Wt specification provides a balance between responsiveness and damping stability, suitable for a wide variety of RC applications including shock absorbers, differentials, and transmission assemblies. The pure silicone formulation ensures that viscosity remains stable across temperature variations, preventing the common problem where oils become too thin in warm conditions or too thick in cooler weather. This thermal stability is particularly valuable when racing outdoors in the UK, where conditions can change rapidly throughout a race day. The engineering behind this oil prioritises consistency over the racing season, meaning drivers can establish baseline setup parameters and rely on the oil's performance remaining constant from test day through to competition. The product has been validated through real-world competitive use rather than laboratory testing alone, giving it credibility that matters to serious RC enthusiasts. With its easy-pour lid and straightforward application, this oil integrates seamlessly into any RC workshop setup, from dedicated competition garages to weekend basher enthusiasts who appreciate quality products.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What weight silicone oil should I use in my RC car? — The correct weight depends on your specific car, track conditions, and driving style. The 65Wt offered here is a medium-weight option suitable for general-purpose use in both shock dampers and differentials. Lighter oils (like 30-50Wt) provide faster response but less damping, whilst heavier oils (like 85-100Wt) provide more damping but can feel sluggish. The Fastrax Racing range includes multiple weights, allowing competitive drivers to fine-tune their setup precisely.
  • Why should I choose Fastrax Racing oils over other brands? — These oils have been developed specifically for RC racing by testing with Europe's leading drivers across diverse conditions from Spanish heat to UK rain. Users consistently report that Fastrax Racing oils offer superior consistency and smoother progression between weights compared to alternative products, making them the choice of serious competitors who demand predictable, reliable performance.
  • Can I use this oil in both my shock absorbers and differentials? — Yes, this 65Wt silicone oil is designed for use in both shock dampers and differentials, making it a versatile choice that covers multiple tuning needs on most RC cars. This versatility means you can standardise on a single Fastrax product rather than managing multiple oils.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst beginners can certainly use this oil, it's designed for competitive drivers and serious enthusiasts who understand suspension tuning and want professional-grade products. If you're new to RC cars, you may find that standard off-the-shelf suspension setups work adequately, but if you're interested in improving handling and learning suspension tuning, Fastrax Racing oils are an excellent starting point.
  • How often should I change my shock oil? — Shock oil should be changed whenever you change your suspension setup, when transitioning between seasons, or if the oil becomes contaminated with dirt or water. At competitive racing events, some drivers change oil between qualifying and racing sessions to optimise performance, whilst weekend enthusiasts typically change oil once or twice per season.
  • Why does the lid design matter? — The easy-pour lid prevents spills and mess during oil changes, which is particularly important when you're at a race meeting with limited time or in a workshop environment. A good lid design also helps prevent contamination of the oil during storage and application, maintaining quality and consistency of your suspension tuning.
