Key Features
- Pure Silicone Formula — This oil is manufactured from pure silicone, which provides superior stability and consistency compared to mineral oils or synthetic blends, ensuring your shock and differential performance remains predictable lap after lap.
- 50 Weight Viscosity (600 cSt) — The 50 weight specification delivers 600 centistokes of viscosity, making it an ideal mid-range option for general racing and bashing applications where you need balanced damping characteristics.
- Extensively Tested by Professional Drivers — This oil has been rigorously tested over 12 months by some of Europe's leading RC racing drivers in real-world conditions ranging from Spanish heat to UK rain, guaranteeing proven performance reliability.
- Exceptional Consistency Across the Range — Professional drivers report that Fastrax oils offer more consistency and progression through the weight range than any competitor product, allowing precise tuning without surprises.
- Easy Pour Lid Design — The thoughtfully engineered lid makes changing your shock and differential oil quick and straightforward, transforming what could be a tedious maintenance task into a job of moments rather than hours.
- Climate Resilient Performance — Whether you're racing in hot Spanish conditions or the damp climate of the UK, this oil maintains consistent viscosity and damping characteristics, eliminating the need for multiple oil weights throughout the year.
- Comprehensive Range Available — Fastrax offers this oil in multiple weight options, enabling you to build a complete tuning toolkit and adjust your car's handling for everything from tight technical tracks to fast flowing circuits.
- Professional Grade Quality — This is not entry-level lubricant; it's a racing-specification oil designed for competitors and serious enthusiasts who understand that oil viscosity is a fundamental tuning variable.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 50Wt is engineered with a specific viscosity rating of 600 cSt at 40°C, corresponding to SAE 50 weight classification, which places it in the mid-range of typical RC car shock and differential oils. The 50 weight designation indicates that this oil will provide balanced damping characteristics suitable for general purpose racing and recreational bashing without being too thick for smooth operation or too thin for adequate cushioning. The pure silicone construction ensures that the oil maintains its viscosity characteristics across a wide temperature range, which is critical for RC cars that may be driven in variable UK weather conditions or transported to events with significant temperature variations. The chemical stability of pure silicone means the oil resists oxidation and degradation over extended storage periods, maintaining shelf life and ensuring consistent performance when you open the bottle. For shock and differential applications in 1/10 scale, 1/8 scale and other common RC car sizes, the 50 weight provides the kind of mid-range damping that works well for general racing without requiring extensive tuning knowledge. The easy pour lid mechanism has been specifically designed to minimise spilling and ensure precise application without waste, important when you're working with small volume quantities typical in RC car maintenance. Every batch is manufactured to racing standards with rigorous quality control, meaning you can rely on consistency between bottles and across the entire product range.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 50 weight and other silicone oil weights for RC cars? — Silicone oil weight (measured in cSt or centistokes) determines how thick or thin the oil is, which directly affects shock damping and differential behaviour. 50 weight at 600 cSt is a mid-range option; lighter weights provide faster damping and quicker response, whilst heavier weights offer more cushioning and smoother transitions. The 50 weight is suitable for general racing and bashing without being too extreme in either direction.
- Can I use Fastrax 50Wt in both shocks and differentials? — Yes, this pure silicone oil is formulated for use in both shock absorbers and differentials on RC cars. Many drivers use the same weight throughout their setup, though some prefer slightly different weights in shocks versus differentials for fine-tuning.
- How much oil do I need to change my RC car shocks and differentials? — RC car shock and differential capacities vary by model, but typically require between 5-15ml total depending on whether you're filling shocks, differentials or both. A single bottle of Fastrax racing oil provides sufficient quantity for multiple services, making it economical for regular maintenance.
- Is Fastrax 50Wt suitable for competitive racing in the UK? — Absolutely. This oil has been tested and endorsed by professional European drivers including UK competitors, and represents racing-grade quality. Many competitive drivers across the UK use Fastrax oils in their race setups.
- What makes pure silicone oil better than mineral or synthetic alternatives? — Pure silicone oil maintains more consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, resists oxidation better, and provides more stable damping characteristics throughout the racing season. It's the preferred choice for serious racers who demand predictability and performance.
- How often should I change my RC car shock and differential oil? — For regular recreational driving, changing oil every few months or after 15-20 hours of running time is typical. Competitive racers often change oil more frequently to maintain optimal damping characteristics. Fastrax oil's affordable price makes regular maintenance practical.
- Will this oil work with my specific RC car model? — Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil is universal and compatible with shock systems and differentials on all major RC car brands including Traxxas, Team Associated, Losi, HPI, Tamiya, Mugen, Axial Racing and other manufacturers. Simply check your vehicle manual for the recommended viscosity weight.
