Overview
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 45Wt is a professional-grade shock and differential oil designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers across the UK. Whether you're running a high-performance RC buggy, monster truck, or crawler, this premium silicone oil delivers the consistency and precision needed to fine-tune your vehicle's suspension and drivetrain performance. Fastrax has spent over a year developing this range with some of Europe's leading RC drivers, putting it through rigorous testing in extreme conditions from the heat of Spain to the wet climate of the UK, ensuring it performs flawlessly in any weather or terrain.
This 45 weight (45Wt) formulation strikes the perfect balance for drivers seeking controlled suspension response without compromising on shift feel through gear changes. The oil's 550 cSt viscosity rating ensures optimal flow characteristics whilst maintaining the precise damping properties that separate competitive drivers from casual bashers. Whether you're tackling technical rock crawling courses, high-speed desert racing, or muddy woodland tracks typical of UK RC venues, this pure silicone oil adapts to your driving conditions and helps your RC car UK perform at its absolute best.
What sets Fastrax oils apart from standard off-the-shelf alternatives is the consistency and progression through their entire range. Drivers involved in the development testing reported that they had never encountered oils offering such smooth progression between different weights, allowing them to dial in their cars with precision for all weather conditions. The thoughtfully designed easy-pour lid makes changing your oil quick and hassle-free, so you can spend more time racing and less time wrestling with messy containers.

Technical Performance
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 45Wt represents a significant advancement in RC suspension and drivetrain tuning fluids. With a measured viscosity of 550 cSt, this oil delivers predictable damping characteristics that allow drivers to achieve precise control over their vehicle's suspension response. The pure silicone construction means there are no synthetic additives or fillers that could break down under the intense heat generated during high-speed running or cause unpredictable viscosity changes in cold UK weather conditions. The 45 weight rating positions this oil perfectly in the middle of Fastrax's comprehensive range, making it ideal for general-purpose use across all RC vehicle types from high-speed buggies and monster trucks to technical crawlers navigating challenging terrain. The engineering behind this product reflects months of collaborative development with professional European drivers who demanded nothing less than absolute consistency and performance. These drivers tested the oils in real competitive conditions, from sweltering Spanish circuits where temperature stability is critical, to wet British tracks where the oil must maintain reliable viscosity in damp conditions. The result is an oil that performs identically whether you're running your brushless RC car on a summer's day at full throttle or navigating muddy courses in winter. The formula's stability ensures that once you've dialled in your suspension settings for a particular weight, you can return to those settings with complete confidence that the oil will behave identically, eliminating guesswork from the tuning process.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What weight oil should I use for my RC car? — The 45Wt rating in this bottle is ideal for general-purpose use across most RC vehicles and conditions. Lighter oils (lower numbers) provide faster suspension response ideal for bumpy terrain, whilst heavier oils offer more damping for high-speed racing. The 45Wt sits in the sweet spot for drivers who want versatility without needing to stock multiple weights.
- Can I use this oil in both shocks and differentials? — Yes, this pure silicone oil is suitable for use in both shock absorbers and differential gearboxes, making it a versatile choice that covers multiple tuning requirements with a single bottle.
- How do I know this oil is suitable for competitive racing? — This oil has been developed and tested by professional European RC racers in real competitive conditions, from extreme heat to wet weather. If it's good enough for drivers competing at the highest levels, it's absolutely suitable for club racing and recreational use throughout the UK.
- What makes Fastrax oils different from other brands? — Fastrax oils offer exceptional consistency through their entire range, meaning each weight change delivers precisely the expected difference in suspension response. The development process involving professional drivers and year-long testing in multiple climates ensures you're getting oils refined for real-world racing conditions, not just laboratory specifications.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst professional racers will appreciate the precision and consistency this oil offers, beginners benefit equally from the reliable performance and easy-pour lid that makes oil changes simple and stress-free as you learn suspension tuning fundamentals.
- How often should I change my shock and differential oil? — Oil should be inspected regularly for contamination and replaced when it becomes dirty or discoloured. Many competitive drivers change oil between rounds or after particularly muddy sessions to maintain optimal performance.
- Does temperature affect this oil's performance? — The pure silicone formulation maintains consistent viscosity across a wide temperature range, which is why Fastrax tested it in everything from Spanish heat to UK rain. Whilst all oils are somewhat temperature-sensitive, this one is specifically engineered to minimise those variations.
