The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 30Wt is a professionally formulated shock and differential oil designed for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers across the UK. Whether you run a 1/10 scale buggy, monster truck, or any other RC car setup, this 30-weight silicone oil delivers the consistency and performance needed to fine-tune your suspension for optimal handling. Developed and rigorously tested over 12 months by some of Europe's leading RC drivers, this oil represents the pinnacle of racing-grade lubrication technology for the UK RC car market.
This premium silicone oil has been extensively tested in conditions ranging from the sweltering heat of Spain to the wet and unpredictable weather of the UK, ensuring consistent performance no matter what climate you're racing in. The development team worked with top competitors to create a range of oils that offer unparalleled consistency and smooth progression across different viscosity options. The result is a product that allows you to tune your RC car's suspension precisely, adapting to track conditions, weather, and your driving style with confidence.
If you're serious about competitive RC racing in the UK and want shock oil that delivers measurable improvements in handling and consistency, Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 30Wt is your answer. The easy-pour lid design means swapping oils between races or practice sessions takes moments rather than becoming a frustrating chore, keeping you focused on what matters—driving fast and winning races.
Key Features
- Pure silicone formulation — Pure silicone oils provide superior consistency compared to synthetic blends, ensuring your shocks and differentials perform predictably across a wider range of temperatures and track conditions common in UK racing environments.
- 30-weight viscosity — The 30Wt rating offers a balanced medium viscosity suitable for general racing conditions and versatile enough to work in most standard RC car setups, making it an excellent choice for both practice and competition.
- 350 cSt specification — This precise viscosity measurement (centistokes) ensures the oil flows consistently through shock pistons and differential gears, providing the predictable damping characteristics that competitive drivers demand.
- Tested by European racing drivers — Every batch benefits from real-world testing by some of Europe's most accomplished RC drivers, meaning the oil has been proven in genuine racing conditions rather than laboratory conditions alone.
- Wide temperature range performance — Extensive testing from Spanish heat to UK rain means this oil maintains its characteristics across the temperature variations you'll encounter throughout the racing season, from indoor heated venues to outdoor winter championships.
- Easy-pour lid design — The thoughtfully engineered lid makes oil changes quick and clean, reducing mess and downtime so you can spend more time driving your RC car rather than struggling with difficult bottle designs.
- Precise tuning capability — The full range of Fastrax oils with different viscosities allows you to dial in your suspension perfectly, enabling drivers to adjust for track character, weather conditions, and personal driving preferences with ease.
- Consistent progression through range — Drivers testing the complete Fastrax oil range reported that they've never encountered oils offering such smooth, predictable progression between viscosity grades, making it easy to find the perfect oil for your setup.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 30Wt delivers exceptional technical performance with a measured viscosity of 350 cSt (centistokes), which is the international standard measurement for oil flow characteristics. This 30-weight designation places it in the medium viscosity range, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC car types and racing conditions commonly encountered in the UK RC hobby. The pure silicone construction ensures stable performance across temperature ranges from cold winter venues to heated indoor tracks, maintaining consistent damping characteristics that drivers rely upon for predictable handling. The oil's formulation has been engineered to reduce friction in shock absorbers and differentials whilst maintaining proper dampening rates, which directly translates to improved handling response, better traction control, and more predictable cornering behaviour. The development process involved extensive real-world testing with professional drivers operating in genuine racing environments rather than theoretical laboratory settings, which means the oil has proven its worth under actual competitive conditions. Whether you're running a 1/10 scale buggy, monster truck, or short-course racer, this oil will work effectively with standard shock designs and differential housings found on popular RC cars sold in the UK market. The purity of the silicone means fewer additives and contaminants that could break down under the high pressures and temperatures found inside active suspension components during competitive racing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is silicone oil used for in RC cars? — Silicone oil is the standard lubricant for shock absorbers and differentials in RC cars. It fills the internal cavities of these components, allowing pistons and gears to move smoothly whilst providing damping force that controls suspension movement and improves handling consistency. The viscosity (thickness) of the oil directly affects how quickly your shocks compress and rebound, making oil selection crucial for tuning your RC car's suspension to match track conditions.
- What does 30Wt mean? — The 30Wt designation refers to the weight or viscosity grade of the oil. Higher numbers indicate thicker oils that provide more damping resistance, whilst lower numbers are thinner and provide less resistance. 30Wt is a medium-viscosity oil suitable for general racing purposes and most standard track conditions in the UK. Competitive drivers often keep several viscosity grades on hand to tune suspension for different weather conditions and track surfaces.
- What is 350 cSt and why does it matter? — cSt stands for centistokes, the international standard measurement of oil viscosity. 350 cSt is the precise measurement for this 30-weight oil, ensuring you know exactly how the oil will perform. This technical specification allows drivers to compare oils accurately and understand the exact damping characteristics they'll get, rather than relying on vague descriptions.
- Will this work with my RC car? — This 30Wt silicone oil is compatible with virtually all standard RC car suspension systems including shock absorbers and differentials found on buggy, truck, and monster truck platforms commonly used in the UK. Whether you run a Traxxas, Losi, Team Associated, or other popular brand, this oil will work with your existing shock cartridges and differential housings without modification.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — Many competitive drivers change their shock oil between races to maintain consistent performance, whilst casual bashers might change it seasonally or when they notice reduced damping effectiveness. Fresh oil ensures predictable suspension behaviour, which is particularly important in competitive racing where handling consistency can mean the difference between winning and losing.
- Why choose Fastrax Racing oils over other brands? — Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil has been tested by professional European racing drivers in genuine competitive conditions, not just laboratory settings. The consistency and progression through the full range means you can fine-tune your suspension with confidence, knowing that the oil has been proven to work reliably across the temperature variations and conditions you'll encounter racing in the UK.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a professional-grade racing oil tested by competitive drivers, it's also perfectly suitable for recreational RC enthusiasts. Beginners benefit from using quality shock oil because it ensures more predictable handling behaviour, making it easier to learn smooth driving techniques and understand how suspension adjustments affect car performance.
- Can I use this in my differentials as well as shocks? — Yes, this oil is formulated for use in both shock absorbers and differentials. The 30Wt viscosity works well in both applications, providing appropriate damping in shocks and smooth operation of differential gears. Many drivers use the same oil viscosity throughout their suspension and drivetrain for consistency and simplicity.
